I don’t think this is quite what you mean but I would want to visit the OG, Detriot-era, Motown studio back when it was actually in use because what better way to ground oneself in “skills matter far more than the equipment one uses so stop making excuses and just make music” than seeing the most successful home studio ever at work
We record at Brooklyn Recording Paradise. Kinda torn right now, since these guys absolutely deserve the recognition, but I'll be annoyed if they get too popular for us to book time 🤣
My studio in the 90s had a Sound Workshop 28 channel board (from 1977). It had tape based automation that still worked (with ADATs). It had LED meters (about 10 LEDs per channel), transformers .. great sounding board. Worked great with the ADATs.
@@Producelikeapro I had 5 of them .. with the BRC. I think we were the first studio in Atlanta to be exclusively ADAT. Did a lot of rap and syncing the MPC or SP1200 to the ADAT was a breeze. Also doing tape offsets to fly vocals around was cool. At the time we had just a 4 channel ProTools rig .. so it was easier to move things with offsets. Just needed a little pre-planning when laying out the tracks.
Cool space and seems like great guys to make a record with! I'm really glad to have discovered "Superbloom" through this video as well, keep up the great work guys!
Rockfield. I got to hang out with wasted there when i was sixteen and Paul Chapman introduced me to the rockman. great guys and a dreary but cool studio [ only dreary cos it always rains.] It's Haunted too.
What I like about Warren is that he came up with meager gear and is not a snob, But I'm sure after being around the top gear is spoiled a bit but totally deserves it.
I feel daunted by the gear on your shows Warren, I feel like my little home studio is like a cassio VLtone to your Mini Moog, well at least these days home recording 'Enthusiasts' can get a sound which really is amazing when you think of how much outboard gear goes in to professional productions. All the best as ever mate.
Before we got this studio - I worked out of my house for 8 years, then a mostly abandoned warehouse with water coming thru the lights and possums in the building (not joking), then a sub-basement of another house. Now this space 11 years later! Keep cooking 🍳
I hear you on the Peavey controls having weird names. My first amp was the Peavey Rage and two of the controls were 'Supersat' & 'Post'. I also had a 90s era solid-state Fender and one of the controls was 'Contour'.
The custom tube mic pre-amp featured at 24:00 was a Jean Christophe Morrison design. JC used to be based in NYC but has been living and working in Sweden for the past decade+.
At least this studio had outboard gear that mere mortals can afford. First time I ever recall a studio tour extolling the virtues of ART gear! Usually it’s “yah, we have six Pultec EQs and four vintage Fairchilds in every mix room,” “here’s our eight vintage U87s, each hooked up through a Manley preamp and Massive Passive EQ … or into channel strips scavenged from a Neve console Sinatra used on one of his last albums,” etc.
Hi Edward, we've done a lot of studios with inexpensive gear o are the years! I love being able to balance all the bigger ones with the smaller private studios!
Cool studio in my home town Brooklyn!!! Seeing a lot of familiar things I have in my studio, the Genelecs, were the first on the list, and a LOT of familiar microphones. I actually have a Neumann U87, several MD 421´s (Best mics for Toms) and I actually bought a pair of 1970´-80´s MD 441´s with the old tuchel connections for 200€. That was a steal. :) And you can´t have enough snares!!! I have 11 of them including a 1978 Ludwig Black Beauty 14 x 6.5 Super Sensitive!!! :)
The Black Lion FET looked really interesting. Still quite unusual to see a wet/dry knob on hardware. I think we will definitely start seeing it more and more as a new generation of manufacturers come up.
surprisingly well stacked, for such a small space, and you can tell the guy's passionate. it would look 10 times better if they got a broom, though. some people are into that "clean" look - where you're not afraid to sing into the microphone.
Wow, a 3630! Legend is right! Legendarily HORRIBLE lol. I had one in the early 2000's and even then we rarely used it unless we wanted to mangle a tone intentionally ;) Apparently there was someone that was modding them though.
If you could visit any professional recording studio in the world, which one would you choose and why? Please comment below!
Kohle Keller Studios , cause it’s not so far away

Blackbird for sure!
Benny Andersson's of course. :-)
Wisseloord Studios in The Netherlands. Completely rebuild now, but the old studios have a lot of history.

Hahaha. Sorry not sorry! They're great guys and thanks for watching
Always got time for you 😘

Great tour. Years a go I sold my Aphex Easyrider, should have kept it. I got the Orban 424A blackface, great piece.
Thanks ever so much for sharing
Many Happy Returns Warren!
Thanks ever so much
Really enjoy these studio tours - it's really interesting to see the type of gear everyone is using.
Thanks ever so much! Really glad you enjoyed this
Lovely looking studio with lots of goodies. Thanks very much for the video
Thanks ever so much Joey
absolutely loved seeing all that gear , great video as always Warren👍
Thanks so much for watching!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The Lauten FC-357 is the only outside kick mic I'll use. Fantastic choice fellas.
Marvellous
A shower?! Ha - these guys are great. Looks really cosy and somewhere you would like to work.
Absolutely!
I have that Japanese double bound tele. It’s such a beautiful guitar. Plays well too
Absolutely! Agreed 100%!
@@Producelikeapro I’ve just got setup with MacBook Pro m2 and UA Apollo twin x quad. Can’t wait to use Luna

Big fan of these studio tours! So cool seeing the different setups and all of the glorious gear

"That Pendulum's been hanging around for a long time." I see what you did there!
Haha yes, indeed
Love the studio! I need to come by!
Head out there! They're great guys.
Me too.
@@Producelikeapro I can totally see it. Organic and cool vibes for sure.

Great tour! I got the same pink Squire Bass VI! After setting up it is an amazing instrument!

AMAZING.
Thanks, Carter!
That was my old space until Covid cleared us out. Great space! The burrito spot of the corner is magic.
Yo no way! Please come by and check it out, would love to meet you. Burrito place just closed and we've got another deli there now.

You're absolutely right! You can make great sounding records from your home studio.

That's amazing! 'THRASH'!! Yes!

Have a pair of those mpeq1 too and they are the best. Hope they get reissued.

We use them plenty - the zen pro audio mod has made a huge difference. Ends up sitting on piano/stringed instruments a lot here
Great tour!! Thanks as always Warren et al - but, I don't think I've EVER seen Warren in a tee shirt?! Hah! At least it's black 🤘🏻

It really is solid - hoping more people catch up with that. Gets used 90% of the time for that reason alone
Cool gear, great video!

How do you remember which guitarist plays the solo of a song in bands like Metallica or others?

5150 Studios.
I was there a few years ago and it was beautiful
You skipped the Altec 1567a...
NS-10 drivers sounding fantastic is highly offensive.
Your man reminds me of Mark Agnesi :-)
Does that rattle in the background come free with recordings or is that extra? 😅 Studio looks fantastic, genuinely. Great gear selection! and space!
