      Paisley Park in Minneapolis, not sure whether there is still all the gear. Was for sure one of the best studios in the world and one room was inspired by Studio 3 of Sunset Sound Studios. Cory Wong made a cool performance and recordings there about 1 year ago btw.
      A lot of great producers and musicians from Mnpls, it's not just LA, NYC and Nashville!

    I engineered at the Bunker studio A about 2 weeks ago for the first time, recording an octet live. Absolute world class experience. I've worked in a lot of amazing rooms but the staff at this place was phenomenal. Hats off to Nolan, our house / assistant engineer. Happy to come back anytime I get the call!

    • @fortressgalaxy
      @fortressgalaxy Год назад +1

      @@MikeSylvestre I worked with an ensemble that's going by "Raffi Garabedian Octet" or perhaps "Raffi Garabedian"... I don't know what his release plans are. He's an amazing composer and tenor sax player from the SF Bay Area. I'll share a link here when it comes out, and update that information! The pre-mix stuff is sounding phenomenal. I used all of the Bunker's RCA 44 mics on horns, RCA 77s, and a lot of Neumanns on everything else. We put all the horns in the big room, separated by gobos, and even at that, lots of bleed but good bleed. It's simply what you get when you have that many people tracking live. I used all Neve console pres, and a lot of outboard compression on busses (to tame saxophones, flute, etc). I couldn't be happier with what I've heard so far. :-)

    I’m always thrilled to see a Neve 80nn console for tracking. The whole range shares a signature rainbow of sound from the preamp and EQ. The best of it is a bit hidden as these two sections are interdependent in a less than obvious way. Backing off the preamp and trying to make-up the level with the EQ opens up a more modern, crisper character. Doing the inverse, the pre creates so much nice even order distortion the EQ is working with a whole new signal, subtly compressed. It took me the better part of a session to grasp this. Either way, the EQ is a very powerful musical tool, quick and easy to make one happy.
    That looks like one great studio, The Bunker. Such a beautifully equipped facility, really oriented to musicians, with special instruments everywhere you look. I’m so happy to see the obvious success it has enjoyed, with a treasure chest of outboard for the old schoolers. I’ll remember this.

    I had to come back to say this because I think it's a really important part of being in the recording business these days.
    I'm a huge advocate of creating an environment and atmosphere which helps the artist to do their best work.
    There's a moment that Aaron wants Warren to get the full experience of the piano so he opens it up and stands out of his line of sight.
    It might sound stupid, but not many studio people know how to remove themselves from those moments.
    It's a big deal to me.

    Hi Warren. What makes a studio "Swedish"? I'm from Sweden, and we have studios of all designs, shapes and types here. I've never heard the term "Swedish studio" before. It would be nice to know what characteristics make a studio "Swedish".

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  Год назад +2

      Interesting, that seems like quite an obvious thing to us outside of Sweden given the history of world class studios in Sweden. When ABBA built Polar Studios in the late ‘’70s it became one of the dominant studios in the world, Led Zeppelin for instance recorded there. It’s spacious design with a lot of beautiful light coloured wood (presumably pine?) was very striking. Maybe you don’t know of Polar or it’s history?

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  Год назад +2

      The point is that a lot of ‘80s studios built around the world took that design and hence it’s influence became huge and often name checked.
