I want to say THANK YOU for putting out the Jet Force content and RareWare content. Jet Force Gemini was THE first game my father ever gifted me as a kid, and it's one of the earliest memories I have growing up that I can remember. To this day, it has been my favorite game. And, after 23+ years, I finally beat it this year and it was one of the best days ever.
Heck yeah! I noticed Jet force Gemini in particular has very little content aside from like let’s plays. I’m trying to make it interesting! Rare on the N64 is my all time fav!
I played this game a lot as a kid. I was convinced that Lupus needed the blue key to access the area in Ichor. I thought he was the only one that the game would allow to get through the window in the sniper area and get the last ship piece. I thought that Lupus could survive getting to where Juno gets the blue key, but nope. That gate only opens for Juno. Some time later i actually paid attention to the dialog after beating Mizar for the first time and realized you had to save all the tribals to get the last ship piece.
I think Wizpig, being a wily villain, got his terrorism sanctioned by the intergalactic racing commission. The Jet Force can't intervene in time because they're stuck navigating the red tape, and all their maverick cops who don't play by the rules are off fighting Mizar.
The music is banging in Jet Force Gemini. Even the character select screen is on fire with an epic Imperial March style of bombastic brass band marching.
@@jiggylookback pretty much everything from story gameplay, development, to Easter Eggs, Even hidden secrets like the names of levels. For sekhmet, Anubis for Egyptian gods. Even goofy names like eschebone, tawfret, and rith essa which are anagrams of “knob cheese” “wet fart” and “shit arse”.
Did anyone know you could play as Floyd during the main story by pressing start with a second controller plugged in? Your stationary but get unlimited ammo
Had Rare not been bought out, I think we would of gotten a peak JFG sequel on the Gamecube. It would been interesting where would stacked with likes of Rachet & Clank.
Regarding the space station blue door. I remember reading somewhere that Rare originally intended for you to proceed to the center of the ship where its core was. You'd find an NPC who'd give you a spaceship part and would show you a cutscene showing how Mizar attacked the space station and how it came to be abandoned. But due to time constraints it was scrapped. I think they moved the spaceship part to another location as a result, or so I figure. It's a shame they didn't get to add that in because I would have loved to see what exactly happened to the space station!!
Makes sense to me that this blue door was also what Lupus' blue key was for, and when they ran out of time and lost the reason to use it they just patched out the key as well.
Its the only N64 Rareware Game i never played. I read so much comments, that its kind of annoying to complete (rescue these little Koala guys) I listened to its soundtrack!
This game was indeed a classic. Only i never fully played it and would watch one of my friends mostly. I do remember once in a while, we would plug in a second controller. This would allow me to play as the little flying robot character.
My biggest jfg mystery is what did the original theme song sounded like considering the final main theme was originally the roman world theme from twelve tales Conker 64 yet jfg released right before twelve tales started transitioning into bad fur day so it makes me wonder since other rare games repurposed scrapped ost for other games(scrapped tracks from project dream even made it into viva pinata for example) and maybe the original jfg theme could have been repurposed for bad fur day after scrapping 90% of the twelve tales ost.
Great video! These are all interesting questions! I loved this game when I played it many ages ago, but it is probably the only N64 Rareware game I just couldn't complete as I couldn't find/save all the Tribals! 😭 I really want to give it another go again as the atmosphere and gameplay were quite fun. I remember the controls taking some getting used to on the original N64 controller, though!
If we're going off of your map of the rare universe, then this probably takes place right in the perfect dark timeline, but also at the same time. Maybe the beginning of the killer instinct. That's why they are like super soldiers and have the super powers
Could very well be. Since it is on earth. But that diddy Kong racing track would have been preserved really well then! Wish it was a little worn down to confirm my map even more haha
Yeah it’s a good game!! If you have it on switch online that’s a good one. Emulation is tricky unless you have a good controller for it. It really comes down to that.
I do like jet Force Gemini the only thing I don't like about that game it's a awkward controls it really takes some getting used to i horizontal controls kind of frustrating but but you do get used to him
I couldnt get anywhere in this game as a kid lol. So I tried again on Switch as an adult but using a regular controller as an N64 controller is just awkward so I couldnt play any N64 games with any level of control. SO I got a wireless N64 controller for the switch and it works great and tried Jet Force again. Still cant get anywhere lmao, I have lost ALL skill with N64 aiming 😅, too used to modern controls now.
I understand. It really takes a couple levels with the N64 controller to get it all figured out. Really it takes a bit to adjust. I think it took me like 3 worlds to really get the controls down.
what about stop and swop. Nintendo asked that Rareware remove it on october 9th. the game started being sold on october 11th... it works better on the older n64s ns1xxxxxx because of longer ram retention. its in there the first few lines of code after the cic handshake do a ram scan for??? stop n swop...
I might have an answer to Lupus' cybernetic enhancements, and it's to do with the character select screen While the humans Juno and Vela have bio scans showing their brain and nervous systems, Lupus is the only one who shows his skeleton, or at least half of it (for whatever reason, his head doesn't animate to rotate profiles, so it's always from the side). His skeleton and nerve endings shows or seems to imply that he doesn't appear to have front or hind paws, seemingly suggesting that his feet are cybernetic prosthetics that function as his hover engines. The tank upgrade though isn't a full body replacement, it's just grafted around his body. If you look closely at his model, you can see his traces of his real body shrunken underneath to fit in
The absolute worst Rare game on the N64. Even in the 90s I thought it was unplayable. Worse still, it's one of those games in which you need to collect EVERYTHING just to access the final boss.
I agree with the collecting everything to complete the game is trash. But the worst rare game on 64? Ummm maybe…I don’t think Killer Instinct or Blasts Corps are quite as strong as Gemini, but I guess with N64 titles like DKR and Banjo it is more bottom tier
What to do next? hmmm
paper mario 64 would be great
Viva piñata would be amazing
WWF No Mercy
Body Harvest or Space Station.
Mischief Makers? Don't hear much about that one. Someone else said Body Harvest too and that's another one I never hear anyone talk about
Imagine being a fan of the N64, and specifically everything Rare did for the console, and finding a channel like this. It's glory itself!
Thank you :)
They’re actually is a second purpose for the fish food. You can use it to distract the maggots aboard the SS Anubis and they will go to eat it.
The fish food is exposed to be used for the final boss as the final boss is allergic to it :P

The biggest flaw in the design of the game in my opinion. Collecting all the tribals is not easy,
This game would really benefit from a remake.
It really would
I can only think I would still think the original has better art style. But I'd like to see it back for sure, it's unique.

Another one worth a play. Though I will say completing it is a slog. It forces you to collect all the tribals which is sort of tough.
