    So a not so fun fact, I was chatting to a chap who writes for WhatVan magazine (who knew right?) and he was saying that the Raptor's trick suspension reduces the payload so much that it no longer classifies as a commercial vehicle and therefore you cannot dodge paying the VAT. Also a Transit Raptor may not be such a pipe dream after all (nudge, nudge, wink, wink say no more).

    Fiesta Raptor needs to have the ST engine at least... proper road going rally car. It'd be awesome

  • @jryalls
    @jryalls 5 лет назад +3

    I’d buy a Fiesta Raptor. Focus RS or Fiesta ST Engine, Shocks from the Ranger, 4WD, big tyres and brakes, Focus RS Bucket Seats, Half Roll Cage and Harnesses, Under protection.
    I also wish they’d make a Mondeo RS by dropping the body on a V8 Mustang chassis or putting a The Focus RS running gear in it to compete with the Kia Stinger etc.

  • @SmallBlogV8
    @SmallBlogV8 5 лет назад +2

    Of course, Fiesta Raptor would be Spanish for Party Dinosaur [kind of], which would be a fantastic name for a 'roided supermini.

    (I would never condone drinking and driving, drink responsibly, lives are at stake) Imagine driving back home under influence on empty streets late at night. Combine this truck with lack of self control (probably already present in someone who would buy it) and empty roads and you'd wreak such havoc. Jumping roundabouts

    Massive drawback for the majority of users who will be buying for a business is that the Raptor is not classified as a commercial vehicle for tax purposes. Normally, dual cab pickups are classed as 'dual purpose vehicles' but this one does not have a one ton carrying capacity, so it is classed as a car, just like a Discovery or RR Sport. Makes a massive difference to the running cost. VAT cannot be reclaimed for a start, so that's a 20% penalty, before you start on the general tax relief available on commercial vehicles verses cars.
    It is not rated to tow anywhere near the normal Ranger's 3.5 tons either.
    This is approaching the price of the new Defender110

  • @paulcfyeung

    I was under the impression that this particular model doesnt get a tax break for some odd reason? Also the load capacity on this model is far lower than the rest of the Rangers since it's got the more "normal" suspension, something that Ford doesnt want you to know about....!

    • @NJRD977

      I think it loses the VAT break because it doesnt have a high enough tow and/or capacity.

    My parents have the original Raptor 6.2L. When we got it I was highly enthusiastic, but after I had driven it a couple of times the shine quickly wore off for me. It's such an unrefined, absolutely MASSIVE (mind you we live in the Netherlands) overcompensating ridiculous vehicle. The tires are so heavy that every time you go over a bump the vertical movement of the wheels disrupts the entire car. That combined with the live rear axle makes the ride absolutely horrible. But then again, I don't really think that I should've expected anything else. I've also never experienced 400hp feel so slow. The infotainment system is absolute dogshit and the interiour quality is (apart from the seats) horrendous. When we first got it I loved it for all the reasons that every person likes Raptors, but to live with in Europe it's absolutely idiotic

    £50k. I can probably afford that but I'd pay no more than £500 for a pick-up truck. I'd occasionally use it to move largish things that are terrible and can tolerate rain (dead carcasses?). However with a few more moments thought a van does a much better job overall (maybe not with dead sheep). Moreover, I wouldn't subject family and friends to a pick-up despite the 100% AIA and VAT tax advantages, most of which the manufacturers play with in their retail prices in any case.

    21:30 i was so hoping this would play out in typical fashion post that statement, and the raptor would be at 90degrees across that lane, stuck between the hedges, blocking traffic and needing a winch. I most definitely not done this more than .. half a dozen times

    Towing capacity is only 2500kg which limits it for farmers and contractors, height of the bed makes it a pain to get stuff in and out of.

    Transit Raptor is a brilliant idea. A double cab, with leather seats and can carry a pallet of 8'x4'. And cos it's a van you wouldn't have your tools stolen at the traffic lights.
