I came to the comments to say that Nissan should re-release it as an EV just as Jonny said the same! Nissan should definitely do that - they'd sell all of them in seconds.
The Nissan private museum storage place building facility room, that you were trying to remember, is the Zama Heritage Collection in Zama, where they keep their heritage collection.
You can still see Figaro driving in Japan, along with Be-1 and Pao. It in in the collection at Nissan Headquarters in Yokohama Minato Mirai 21, along with a Datsun Go parked next to a Nissan Titan. And a couple of Nissan New Mobility Concept aka Twizy for hire. When I was there I spoke to a guy who just had a test drive of a Nissan Leaf Nismo edition.
The S-Cargo is sort of insanely timeless. There's one often parked near Rivington Street in Shoreditch [incase anyone wanted to see one in the flesh] and it's really hard to imagine it being almost 30 years old. Nissan were killing it down the ol' Pike factory.
I can't believe it was made in 90/91! Growing up and seeing them parked around I thought they were still in production! (2000's) I remember there was a figaro specialist and dealer that we would sometimes drive past that had at least 30 all parked bumper to bumper on his forecourt. I always thought they were funny looking useless cars but I guess I'm getting old because they are really growing on me!
There's a street in Notting Hill where there's three plus a very rusty Rover 105. I love the Figaro. I never minded the way the Micra drove, even with a 4 speed manual. I would probably be able to live with a Figaro :D. Pity the rear camera died by the way!
The Be-1 caused a mini sales spike in Minis in Japan - which started aping the Be-1 billboard ads, except with a mouc of a Mini in place of the Nissan, and the tagline "The 1"
I couldn't think of any other car with two bearded guys in it on the road looking so much batting for the other side. Except perhaps if you were in a MX5, with the roof down, perhaps.
RoobehTunes Clarion do an upgrade. Wouldn’t get one via the Figaro shop as they charge more than the company. Just google Nissan Figaro clarion upgrade and look for the official website:-)
It’s an Emerald green, not topaz mist ;-) One of my friends has 300,000 miles on it now, same engine etc. Still a few in japan too, not too many now though. Great video.
In The Netherlands, proper old cars ( older than 1978 iirc ) are allowed to use classic car plates (dark blue with white letters). Also: only cars that really cannot fit normal EU plates (like SOME US cars) may, id granted a special permit, use small license plates. I’ve seen a bunch of these on the road in NL, especially in rich neighborhoods of Amsterdam, and ALL have the small and dark blue license plates (illegal). They just look so old that nothing else would look good. I can well image only the most an@l officer will actually find the owner of a car like this.
I am the only one who had to Google JDM? There goes my car-nerd street cred right there! Luckily, Google realised I was looking for Japanese Domestic Market and not some fetish website! Together with a bright pink Morgan (yes, really), I used to see one of these locally for many years. Nissan never replaced it, so I suppose owners just kept them. Like Rich, it seems I underestimated the Figaro though. Slightly naff, but in a good way! I did admire the Cube (saw one the other day), although it must have the Cd of a barn-door (and a particularly flat barn door at that!) Personally, the S-Cargo was always my fave, with it's inspired name and design.
Clique53 did someone say cupholder?! Haha. One of our two has one, can’t find a cheap one for the black one. (Ezra). Gurt, the green one has a cupholder, parcel shelf, parking stick & boot tray. All found from friends/cheap scrap yards 😊
I love how Rich can shoehorn the Rover 75 into any line of conversation.

Love the fact that all the internal components are bespoke to such a marginal model.
This is the perfect car for filming youtube chat videos! it captured lovely shots of British country side.
I love that car. It's got genuine character, and you can use all of it all the time. :)
Oh my god the S-cargo is named "escargot" because it has a snail shaped body.
How on earth did I not see that before.
That is GENIUS
FFS! :D
Right? That's how I felt!
How did you not know that 😂
A marvellous vid', as gently info packed as one of Harry's Garage vids. Lovely line about your wife's 'big smile' in her car, Jonny....priceless.
You make a lovely couple in that Figaro.
Fun fact, Johnny and I used to have almost the same pairing of cars: Nissan Cube and Pao. I was a Car magazine subscriber then! O back in the days!
Gotta make it an EV Jonny - ideal project for watching on Fully Charged!!
Still my all time favourite car, one day I'll get one.
These are such great car chats, I could probably listen and agree with everything said for hours. Keep up the superb work boys!

In Zama
Used to cycle past a house near Upper Bucklebury, west of Reading, in the 90’s that sold these cars, great to see a review!

I really like the ones where there's some good obscure car chat. :)

I think an EV Figaro would be a cool project!
no
fuck that

GOD at last I know what this strange car I see in my home town is. Took me 3 years but now I know!
A motoring journalist who's not able to immediately convert 160,000km to miles. For shame.
I now want a Mazda Porter.
I couldn't think of any other car with two bearded guys in it on the road looking so much batting for the other side. Except perhaps if you were in a MX5, with the roof down, perhaps.
Please get the mini-F40 madness that is the Autozam AZ-1! always wanted one of those beasties
If you are interested in the AZ-1 then Tom out of off of Tom's Turbo Garage recently got one. He's also got a video series on his Figaro.
Thanks, i'll check that out!
Bloody hell. I just checked on an Australian car sales website. £9,504 - £15,043
Johnny, where did you get the radio rebuilt? I'd like to give mine the same treatment!
RoobehTunes Clarion do an upgrade. Wouldn’t get one via the Figaro shop as they charge more than the company. Just google Nissan Figaro clarion upgrade and look for the official website:-)
Cool, Thanks!
Clarion UK do it.
Cheers!

300k miles or KM? Either way it's impressive
Is this your Figaro for sale on the A47/Upton/Castor roundabout?
That guy at the end did not look pleased in his Ibiza
There is one where I used to live near saitama :p used to look at it every day wondering about it...
How can someone with the encyclopedic knowledge of cars as Mr Porter not be able to immediately convert 160,000km into miles!!
14:19 Did they say Mazda Porta because I can't find anything remotely close to that name online?
Mazda Porter
There's like half a dozen of these in Swansea and I have no idea why.
Check RUclips Tom's Turbo Garage in the US. He has or had one and he also went to see some guy who had a warehouse full of JDM imports.
Topaz Mist is the beige one.

Brilliant video, very annoying noise of clackers just behind the camera.
There is a traders garage in leatherhead that only have figs 🤣
Love it, would like to have seen under the bonnet
might it one day, when the motor runs out of spares be reborn as an EV?
lets be honest, it would be a perfect EV
They passed a Tesla at 0:40
Peter Brazier what does that have to do with it?
a launderette is where you get your clothes cleaned its no a car with no roof .
Turn off stability control and you’ll avoid the image of the car floating around.

This took me down a strange route that led to a Mitsuoka Viewt on Autotrader. Shudder.
Me too...
LIKE LIKE LIKE !!!
Have U got the mega expensive cup holder?!!! 😅

Clique53 No I don’t - couldn’t face the expense of one. Would like a parcel shelf and parking stick though.
Not yet. I want one, as she spills tea on the carpets. I also want the parking mast.
When American's want to import a Figaro, they will have to look over here. It's true what S&S say, they are all here!
Teeny 50bhp engine . And I know Vanessa feltz had one .
Eric Clapton imported the very first one of these in to the he UK.
We have a similar vehicle in the us called a juke...comes partially convertible like this and it may be a small suv.
THANK GOODNESS FOR ENGLISH SUBTITLES. AS AN AMERICAN IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY'RE SPEAKING A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE.
The Figaro looks like a homage to the 1947 Cisitalia. ruclips.net/video/2iMo8yVi2b8/видео.html
Jdm charm
Haha
pitty nissan is so crap with their vehicles now
Nissans nowadays are just boring as shit
Its ok everyone I know who disliked this and they are a shitehawk.
