Great video - as always 👍🏻. When I worked at Mercedes, several of us wondered if Artico was the German sense of humour.. and it was short for artificial cow.

Mercedes also have Airmatic suspension - also a 50's name. They used to call the normal cruisecontrol "Tempomat" which REALLY sounds like something made out of cream/mint green metal.
well absolutely didn't expect to hear Keith Urban mentioned in a Smith and Sniff video.
The A AMGs and the RS3's are absolutely totally, 100% guaranteed to be driven by people who do 45 in all 30 mph zones, and spend most of the time deliberately downshifting into 2nd and backing off so they can do that pop 'n bang nonsense because there car is "well fast init"......
Yes to the latter of your deductions- in my case anyway (A35), because why the hell not? It makes me smile.
you dont have to downshift for the pop n bang, it pop n bangs also if u give a short push on the throttle

Great vid as always. Although I'm surprised at the lack of helmswrightery, was expecting you to give it the full beans.
Instead of playing the BHP (unusable on public roads) game, the AMG 35 allows you to use more of the car and, more importantly, to have fun. That’s why I grab the keys to my MX5 sometimes instead of my M5. I test drove one of these last week and it’s great, not perfect, but fun. The new Golf R is the better car but I’d take the AMG 35.
There have been old shape A Class Mercs in the BTCC, not sure if/when they'll be changed to the new shape

Argghhhh, someone else that says AMG Line is just a trim pack. No its not !. You get..... Yes AMG styling on the body panels and interior. Uprated Drilled disks with Performance pads. AMG Speedshift DCT if fitted. AMG Speed Steer steering. Lowered sports suspension. Bigger anti-roll bars. And specific mapping for the engine and DCT. My dealer confirmed that the engine software is different, even on a A220d (2.2d) AMG Line against a stock model. The part numbers are different for the software. Unlike the Audi S-Line, or Gold R-Line for example which as just styling packages.
DJ_PaulTUK they are still for people who really really want an AMG but can’t afford one, they are fake AMGs.
@@Jabber-ig3iw Maybe so, but a A220d is only 1.3 seconds behind a A45 pre-facelift on 0-100 mph !. Thats it. Ive had a A45 and its really not worth the badge, Yes its 0-60 is good, but thats where it ends.

Do engineers understand what fun is? I've not met one yet who has given me any evidence that they do.
Love the channel, but the sound quality needs to be improved. Very hard to hear over all the road noise.

Jonny looks a bit too tall for that foot well. Is that just the camera angle or did you struggle to fit in comfortably (ie, could you drive 100 miles without walking like a penguin when you got out)

Absolutely hate how mercedes have cheaped out on those stalks.. the one in my c220 looks premium with chrome or aluminum but that looks something off a Dacia

As a A45 facelift owner, i fail to see the point of the A35. Its basically a A45 with 80bhp missing and you would always be asking yourself why didnt i just get a A45....
This car and it’s ilk are not hot hatches, too much power and far too expensive. They need their own catagory.

An A35 is a Mercedes now? What kind of millennial nonsense is that? Everyone knows that an A35 is an Austin (like Wallace & Gromit's van).
So it has three times the BHP of a 1990 RS Turbo. I’d still rather have the Ford, even at 30 years old. That Merc is just like a high powered American fridge freezer.

The problem is your thinking of this car compared to some of the top end stuff you have driven and also as car people. This is a PCP status symbol.
I would take a c class over this anyday even a less powerful one they just drive so much better
I've just got the other way, C250d AMG Premium plus 4matic estate mapped to 260bhp..... to an A35. It's awesome, the C class is for old people, so boring.

Sorry guys but it does indeed look twatty. Extremely twatty. Mind you I own a W-123 so I am not the best judge but, having seen an A35 AMG in person, they are very twatty. And very sad.
