    Nice to the point video. However it's super important when baking to make sure the new texture you created is selected before baking. this is the same when you're doing any kind of baking and needs to be done for every material you have in a given seen that you are trying to bake too. Just use the same image for each material. If you see a message at the bottom saying no texture selected, that's usually the problem. Cheers!

    Using v.2.80. My area already has all the materials and UV textures done. but the shader editor appears to lack a vertex color node.

      Same here, I updated to the last version because it haves some new tools I really needed for painting but now transfering Vertex colors to Evee or Cycles is complicated as hell wihtout the vexter color node 😢.

    • @Asterion608
      @Asterion608 2 года назад +1

      Nevermind, I just realized the "vertex color" node is now called just "Attribute" and it performs the exact same function but better 😆 everything works fine now.

    Is there a quick video somewhere import a .glb, convert the vertex color data to a uv map and export back out as fbx? I can't imagine this being that hard of a process yet I can't find this information anywhere.

    if anyone is having trouble baking out the vertex colours what i did was use the vertex colour as a factor in a mix rgb and baked out the colours i wanted. this will work perfect for cavity maps or ambient occlusion factors i guess

    • @jlewwis1995

      Do you know how to bake lighting to vertex color properly without the surface color getting mixed in with the light color and screwing up the lighting? I tried baking the shadow pass only but that didn't get indirect lighting for some reason whereas when baking combined with a plain white diffuse color I did get both direct and indirect.

    For some reason this doesn't work unless you unwrap the object.

    blender is sometimes program of total randoms.everytime i try to bake there is something that doesnt work. Even if go wirth simplest tutorial he is bitching about something. mainly no valid selected objects. And yes, yes, yes. I created image texture, no its not connected anywhere, yes object is unwrapped. yes it is set to diffuse, yes i am in cycles. Anybody any idea please why is baking so problematic constantly?

    • @BerraLilltroll
      @BerraLilltroll 3 года назад

      Because you dont see what you work with in a proper window. It is a real pain. Most tutorials forget one step, and you are totally lost. Immediately. Baking is a process that uses connection between different windows. And no, I cant explain what you did wrong. But after a month of not getting it. I now get it much better. I still dont really understand the connection between the uv-unwrap and the baking. Are those different images or the same? Does it store the unwrap in blender, and the unwrap image is just an image of that? Perhaps. All I know is that 32 bit float is useful. Perhaps. I click on that. Blender has, I guess, a secret box with uv-things, that is just hidden. Or is it? Or does it show in the uv-editor tab left side.... himmm.... I will go check.

    After I bake I'm getting some black lines through the texture. I fixed any overlap on UV, but still have issues? I'm making a basic asteroid as a game map. Tried a few things, but just can't get rid of these black lines.

    • @fournerdsreview8452
      @fournerdsreview8452 2 года назад

      @Genshi Studio I haven't fixed it properly yet, but it seems to be an issue with the UV map. There's overlap, and it only seems to be an issue on complex UVs.
