    I'm so stoked on this.
    I love how all my favourite production artists are rockin small workstations in their apartments. And their names are masssssive!
    Gives me motivation to dream big and realize I'm almost there with what I'm doing.
    I guess all I need is a pretentious image to force feed to the public and then I'll be popular.

    Rich kid? Joel had a very humble beginning. He has worked his way up because he is good at what he does! I wish more people would stop freaking out about musicians making money doing what we all wish we could be doing.

  • @hchchc948
    @hchchc948 11 лет назад +8

    he's been saying it was due to the label putting pressure on him to produce more pop tracks, and that he plans to release more ambient stuff in the future. i think theres a bright future ahead of him still

    I can't stop watching Joel's ancient videos. There's just something weirdly nostalgic. Maybe it's the classic deadmau5 tracks or the poor quality that's super 2000s. Or both. Probably both (I miss the 2000s).

    This is what I gotta love about the guy. He really is just a proper nerd done good. He's got a little cave, and a disco ball, and a futon. The Little Phatty costs twice (thrice?) as much as his bed, because priorities. Fuck sunlight man, whadda we need that for. We got Christmas lights, job done.The KRKs aren't even anything terribly special, because nerds know their specs and hate getting raked over the coals for some brand name. Nerds are cheap, until it's that one thing they throw all their money at of course. Then you gotta get the one with the blue lights, even if it's extra. Really, this apartment could be the apartment of several people I know, and he's fucking deadmau5, ffs.

    RAT is indeed pure gold. It's an incredible piece of music, and I'll say it's his best continuous piece of music, though not his overall best. Personally, I really enjoy his chill, ambient stuff, old and new. You know, like Brazil (first edit), Soma, Sleepless, as well as some of the stuff he's been putting up on soundcloud lately, like Somewhere Up Here, Satellite, Coelacanth, Omnifck, etc. That's just my preference, although his progressive will always be a close second in my book.

  • @epicpolyphony
    @epicpolyphony 12 лет назад

    @17ICEFIRE17 they are called studio monitors. Most speakers you buy don't have a flat frequency response (they boost certain frequencies so that your music sounds better, or due to their shape) Monitors are basically speakers but with a flat frequency response, so you hear everything in balance. If it sounds good on monitors it will sound good on almost any speakers. They are a necessity for good mastering and mixing. (and just overall sound production)

    Forgive my ignorance, but why do you have so many different computers? Are they connected together some how, or do you use them individually? It seems that a good number of professional musicians use multiple computers like this, but I don't quite know why... thanks!

    Hi, I don't think deadmau5 will answer this post, so let me give you an answer.
    Little Phatty has 3 editions: Tribute (blue lights), Stage (orange lights), Stage II(same as previous, but with an arpegiator and USB). All versions have lightened wheels.
    The prophet 08 has regular and special edition: special edition has glowing wheels and Dave signature, while regular has not.
