Not 100% correct. It wasn't about the Nyan cat wrap but the "rebranding" of the Ferrari as a "Purrari". Sadly, due to how precedence works in the judicial system, Ferrari had to send a C&D or they could lose other "rebranding" cases in court.
@@PureGamingTV From what I recall it wasn't necessarily rebranding it as "Purrari" that was the problem it was the re-use of recognisable Ferrari *branding elements*; like the Ferrari font and logotype, and the design identity of the Ferrari badge (a yellow oblong but with the Ferrari logo replaced with Purrari and the prancing horse replaced with a leaping cat). He could have called it whatever he wanted, even Purrari, and, as long as he didn't use anything recognisably "Ferrari", then there would have not been a thing Ferrari could have done.

Not knocking it so much it is just a bit of a surprise I suppose for someone that is clearly so tech aware/friendly. Plus it doesn't exactly fit the decor of the room as whole. I was expecting a Herman Miller or something along those lines.
I agree, but someone who likes MTV Crib might not like this video because it's very tech oriented, where as MTV Crib I assume doesn't tend to be. Sort of apples and oranges
Honestly, a Netflix or HBO documentery on deadmau5 would be incredibly cool. If Kanye and Dr. Dre (with Jimmy Iovinne) and others had it, why shouldn't deadmau5?
I've never listened to deadmau5's music until I've discovered his feats with Kaskade (kx5) a few months ago. And honestly, I would have never thought that this guy was this much of a tech guy. It is damn impressive what him and his team came with in terms of installations (and I'm speechless in front of this GIANT "home-studio"). As someone who likes to push the technical limits of equipements and who likes inovations, I see them as absolute exemples of giving yourself at 100%, searching further, and maybe one day life will reward you, and if not, atleast you'll be proud of all that you've created and in the end that's the only thing that matters. Incredible, from France...

No seriously, Keep up the Nerd-Cribs thing going. It was super-cool :) I don't know how many times I've seen Joel in action in real time on his session-streams, but it never ceases to amaze how cool his entire setup is... If only I had millions to produce a studio such as that... Both of you: keep up the good work!
Seeing Linus' updates on his new home makes me realize how much inspiration he probably took from Joel's house. The dude honestly deserves it, happy for him!
With his insane connection, he doesn't need a storage for porn. he can just open hundreds tab of porn in 4k and just watch it in 1 click without buffering. wait, he doesn't even need to watch porn. he can simply ask the pornstars to just come to his castle.
Joel is a guy who unlike your average "rich" or "wealthy" celeb, takes his money and spends it on cool shit that he actually likes and makes all his customization dreams come true in every regard. He reinvested a ton of money back into making the studio customized beyond belief so he could best make music the way he wants to in his own "temple" and output a better product. He didn't have to do that, he could have been like 98% of all other successful artists out there who just book a studio and force rush a product because they are on rented time with a producer, with in some cases shitty setups. Most who get rich off entertainment blow their money just on pure opulence because they can, he uses his money creatively. I mean even his house is not a lavish mansion, its just a big house. Part I like the most is the money truly never changed him, he got rich and still all he wants to do is make music and play video games.
Yep. This isn't lavish and stupid spending, but it's not smart investing either. It's just fucking DOPE. It's just his answer to the question "what would you ACTUALLY do if money wasn't an issue". The dude obviously knows his shit, and knows people who know more than him. I knew he was cool and nerdy, and that he had some dope toys, but this video really shows some stuff I'd never seen, or even thought was possible. Mad respect.
Coming from the latest video where Linus made his Pool into a heat sink. Thinking back I feel like Linus has been chasing the high he felt at Deadmau5's place.
Had the privilege of chatting with Zimmerman a couple times and this guy is super genuinely a good dude. Just wants to be left the fuck alone, most of the time, but hell, with that level of fame, I don't blame him a bit. Good music, great production, and a total geek who just wants to lay back and be a dork now and then without anyone bothering him about his work. I dig.
And how did you gather that I was saying people were harassing him while walking down the street? Nothing I said implied that. All I said was, 'guy is good dude', 'guy wants to be left alone', 'guy doesn't like incessant questioning about his music on his off-time', the end. Also, can you fucking spell something correctly, please, ya fuckin' yokel.
After watching this I immediately bought Joel’s Masterclass. Absolute life goals right here. Hire all your best friends, build cool shit, & share your love with the world
raw uncompressed audio files at maximum bitrate/frequency can actually take up a ridiculous amount of space. the file gets mega compressed when you send it to youtube and spotify obviously, but its nice to export in as high quality as possible, kind of like "super sampling" your graphics at 4k and scaling it down to 1080: it makes sure that all the important details get into the mix before the websites do their own compression
So - I was VJing at this small festival some years ago. Gave me the boon of visiting the center stage mixing floor. And there was this guy - doing the visuals for Deadmau5 who was on at this point ... and omg ... it did not look like much - but it was all custom made. The software, the controller (three black orbs) and the visuals themselves were out of this world (my favorite was the statue of liberty shooting laser out of her eyes before eaten by a even bigger Kraken. Bless the freaks.
I've already loved Joel's music... but the fact that he makes his own stuff and knowing he uses so much analog equipment for his music makes me appreciate and respect the man much more.
@@IguanaJoose I hear ya man, he had a lot of great hits and it's hard to find music that can capture the nostalgia. There's always a chance he could come back with something killer.
I found out all this after finding Deadmau5 on vinyl at my local record store. I was baffled as to why such a digital artist would release on vinyl. The clerk knew a fuck-ton about Deadmau5, tho, and schooled me on Joel's obsession with tone. I re-listened to a bunch of his stuff on my more fancy-pants audiophile gear and I was really surprised by the depth of his production. Worth buying in an analog format, for sure.
@@alexthejapanfan7905 I enjoy EDM in all of its forms. There is a nuance of sound using analog equipment that digital cant do organically. That being said, digital software can still make amazing and complex sounding music. It really all depends on the person who creates the music. Joel has one of the very few BOSE recording studios ever made and he has it at home. Like mentioned above, Joel is always looking for that right tone. He really digs into the tiny detail of sound to find what he wants and using analog equipment helps him do that. He does mention in his master class that somebody with a laptop can make a killer mix with just some software. Not everyone can afford Joel's setup and not everyone needs 100s of thousands of dollars of equipment to make good music.
@@germandan5 sure. And noted. Edit: I think Digital Equipment can also do that organically. You just have to find a way to probably tweak any sound you like and tweak any presets you like just to make it more organic for you, that’s pro tip of the day. 😉👍🏻
It won't be the "music files" requiring that that much storage (although software and associated libraries can consume huge amounts depending on how obsessive/rich you are😂), it will be the custom video content Joel creates for shows that is the real reason he has that much storage. For video playback at shows Joel uses VJ software called Resolume Arena which, although it can use different video codecs, for technical reasons works best with its own proprietary video format called "DXV" (not to be confused with the old DVX format). Unlike lossy formats, like MP4, DXV is a lossless format and, as such, it can result in some eye-wateringly large file sizes. Looking through my library of files from colleagues that I've transcoded from MP4 to DXV, just a *single* 91.4mb MP4 (1m24s @ 9000kbps) transcoded to DXV consumes 1.08gb! Now, even bearing in mind that most (but not all) shows will use much shorter clips which are often themselves looped, content for a 60+ minute show can easily still consume 100's of Gb of storage space. This doesn't even take into account rendering out "video" from 3D software as individual lossless frames for things like post-processing in other software, etc, this too can quickly consume Gbs of data. Then there is development/test renders, and so on. Yeah, audio can take up vast amounts of space but video, especially if you stick to a lossless pipeline, is in a whole different league.
@@DJShadesUK Linus was specifically talking about music files. All the takes that make up the stems, any destructive edits with redundancy copies, any unused ideas, different mix renders, VST bounces, and a single song can be tens of gigabytes. I'd imagine if you have the luxury of fucking around endlessly, they can take up even more space. To say nothing of the sound libraries that he himself has probably built, and any that he's bought. Obviously video production takes up even more space.
@@dougthemoleman Sorry but audio is p*ss in a pond compared to lossless video when it comes to chewing through storage space. I produce both audio and video and, as I said previously, audio can, and does, quickly consume storage space but it is nothing compared to a 4k lossless pipeline.
Ill be honest, I was one of those people who said it doesn't take talent or skill to produce theses sounds. You know what, after watching this, I take that all back. I admire him for showing the tech side of his studio, and what It takes.
BananaDoe believe me, it doesn't take that much to make music like his, all your really need is a computer, he just has all of this stuff to perfect the sound
Having modular synths means more control than a UI could ever provide, also for trial and error until you find something that chimes. Software synths are meh for this...
@@matthewwatson41 Surely depends on the output. A fiber optic cable would be faster, but with a big mast like that I imagine it's better than some garbage copper wire phone cables.
Vintage analog equipment vs: digital emulation: Me and my friend had an orignal Linn Drum Drum Machine. He got it from one of "The Stranglers". We set it up and played with it for hours; and then we set up the digital equivalent on the computer. Did a/b tests: There was NO difference. So: rather than worry about having an "original, vintage" piece of gear? Screw it (until you are rich and famous) and use your digital stuff. Good songs can be played on anything, and will shine thru. Cheers "LiL'JpD."
He gets a lot of hate because he unapologetically does and says whatever he feels like. yet has climbed to a status that many of the more "PC" producers would dream of. Still... Regardless of your opinion of glowing mouse heads or his music, no honest person could objectively say that he hasn't put in his time, thought, and effort into creating what he has. Thank you both for showing me one iteration of the potential that is possible when technology and creativity are paired harmoniously.
There are many similarities in the two based on my statement. The critical difference comes in the following paragraph where I mention time, thought and effort. Trump owes his success to nepotism. He inherited all of his money and connections and has actually handled them rather poorly, from the little disclosure that has been made/speculated on his current financial state. There is definitely some validity to pointing out his success in getting elected (though its legitimacy is debatable). The fact he even made it into double digits is a real eye opener. However, I digress... This video is about music and nerding out and I'm happy to see it stay that way.
This is what I tell me friends. I'm not a Fan of DeadMau5's music. Im more into Metal and Harder stuff. But GODDAMN, This man is a freaking performance artist, and I wish my favourite bands put HALF as much effort into their stage productions as these guys do
If you guys haven't, check out some his behind the scenes performance stuff. The visual on the "cube" are nothing compared to what's going on behind it. He doesn't just pop in a CD and play with a mixer, he's got probably $200,000 in gear in the cube that are all running on a sync signal and playing independently. When you hear a note being played, it's playing on a keyboard, then running through this machine, getting filtered through that machine, etc. Crazy cool stuff, i'm also a metal fan but god damn do i respect the shit out of deadmau5.
I'm a Metalhead but love Deadmau5's stuff... diversity is really something great, especially as a musician myself you can get inspired and learn a lot from different genres of music.

It's just his answer to the question "what would you ACTUALLY do if money wasn't an issue". raw uncompressed audio files at maximum bitrate/frequency can actually take up a ridiculous amount of space. the file gets mega compressed when you send it to youtube and spotify obviously, but its nice to export in as high quality as possible, kind of like "super sampling" your graphics at 4k and scaling it down to 1080: it makes sure that all the important details get into the mix before the websites do their own compression

I just really hope you’re not against Digital equipment for music. Just asking since I found this just recently.

"Do music files really take up that much space?" Oh, you poor, naive soul.
Yeah, audio can take up vast amounts of space but video, especially if you stick to a lossless pipeline, is in a whole different league.
the finalized download versions from various platforms? no. But that's, by far, not the whole story.
Making a one 1 minute track is like 50 MG. Also there is a difference between the actual music program file and the audio file

Vintage analog equipment vs: digital emulation:
Me and my friend had an orignal Linn Drum Drum Machine.
Cheers
"LiL'JpD."
