Thank you for this honest review, so many other videos were essentially 5 minute long commercials. While I am not in the market for one of these now, I think that this would be a great segway for lots of folks who need a way to get around and want to have some fun, but might not have looked for an alternative to riding dirtbikes in the street. Raising awareness of these options is a good step forward, and knowing the pros and cons will help them make informed choices.
Appreciate the video! I’m an onyx owner and I can agree with your cons. But honestly the bike is fun as hell and it overcomes the cons. But hey I don’t think there is a perfect ebike in this world.
Gotta add the seat being firm (not always the case for everyone) and shocks being needed to be replaced for some kind of comfort (+$200) the thing that really saves the onyx is not the company and their efforts, its the community. Knowing that u know what to do when something happens and all the knowledge being in the FB group gave me a bit of confidence to purchase this But since its legally an electric bicycle it also doesnt need to go through the qualifications before production like most motorcycles, minibikes etc. U get away with some red lights and all that, they get away with chinese quality. Still a good bike overall and still beats most of the other e-bikes out there.
Glad for your honest feedback. I’ve got a Super 73 RX, and obviously speed and torque is blown out of the water, but it’s interesting the pros and cons are almost flipped lol, though she handles well
I'm surprised yours came with plastic pedals. Mine came with metal pedals. I will say, even though they're metal the paint has been coming off of them pretty quick. I do love this list though. I love my RCR. The pros outweigh the cons for sure. Happy riding man, stay safe!
One of the best electric moped bikes out there without modifying. If get a 3000A motor kit for a regular bike will cost you upwards past $1000 on top of your original purchase on lets say an Ariel X which is north of $3000 if you gonna do it yourself. That's easily $4000 and honestly its probably going to be more then that($5000 +) installation or from unforeseen circumstances. With the ONYX in my opinion more of a plug and play and better buy for the money.
Great video Sam and thanks! This def helps with the possibility of purchasing one when I'm ready. For now, I'll stick with my even more expensive hyper scooter. They're just easier to bring into my tiny studio here in NYC, lol.
Great video man thank you for your honest pro and cons I don't which one to get the onyx rcr, Huck cycle Stinger or the surron or segway I'm not very technical to ebike
Just purchased one. Hasn't arrived yet due to a shortage of batteries. I appreciate the list of what YOU like and don't like. I agree 100% that the color scheme of the covers is lacking appeal. A good scuffing and a fresh coat of paint, and maybe an airbrush or decal will solve that. I am looking to tweak it in the future. Are there aftermarkets for the the brake levers, shocks, motor and controllers?
I am going to purchase one as well in the coming months. I think it's a better buy for your money in regards to speed and torque. The customer service is excellent from my experience so far. The support and assistance from the ONYX groups are also awesome. So yeah The RCR has my vote and my money lol
@@WILSONsHobbies Im on the same boat! Have you managed to get one yet!? I have been looking around and the onyx seems promising. Just like Sams son, i have been bugging the shit out of my dad so he can get one too and we can ride together xD
Awesome! Yeah I'm trying to get away from that big heavy steel frame and besides that it's kind of fragile did Ben's easy when you're hard on it I have it at a metal shop now they're going to weld up the swing arm where I cracked it and then I'm having them cut a rectangle area out of the side covers so I can ventilate the controller.
Hello, thanks for the video. I'm wondering if you have thoughts on long-term reliability. I'm looking at commuting 250 miles a week and am concerned about the expense over time. I understand you've had small quality issues, but what about the fundamental power train?
Wow that is a lot of miles, we have 2,000 miles on ours and I can tell you that we have had no major problems really just minor stuff the bike has been very reliable and about half of its life is spent off road.
Hi, thanks for the cool video. What's the real range do you think with the big battery? Driving around 30. And could you have a back up somewhere on a b8g trip
Hello thanks for watching, I've never tested it but I'm going to guess it somewhere around the range of the battery in my Enduro probably around 40 miles
I bought a Juiced HyperScrambler2 52v / love it. Just got my Delfast Top 3.0 a few months ago love it MORE. But you can't find many people local AZ to touch these bikes!!! Do ya know anyone qualified?

Hello here in California is considered a class 3 electric bike so long as it is in a setting that limits it to 28 mph no license no registration required you would have to check your local laws, it's different state by state sometimes even by City Just go to your local DMV web page and they should have all the information there for you.
Well on the streets around here most of the speed limits are around 45 mph and the onyx is way faster most card off the line I easily pull three four car lengths as soon as that light turns green.
If I can get decent shocks and an all black battery cover I'm sold. If I can daily it and still take it on some rough trails it seems like a great buy. Would it get a recommendation?
Hi Sam and thanks for the video. Suspension question - how much did your swap cost? If I only have manual bicycle repair experience do you think I could manage? Thanks!
Hello I have a video on the rear shock swap ruclips.net/video/L1iSDAgD_Ew/видео.html It is very easy to do it's only two bolts I think they were about $150 for both of them
Nice review. I especially appreciated the last con. I was worried about police breaking my chops with this thing. Cops are a little gung ho where I live.
Hello where I live it' is legal as a class 3 e-bike in that case no you do not need a license but there is a 28 mph limit and you need to wear a helmet
Hi owner of the RCR personally disagree with con 1 about quality. it rides much like a motorcycle and the rear break isnt as effecient as the front break youre supposed to use that front break the most on street environments
Damn 4k I thought it was about 2k. I'd just buy a Sur Ron at that price tge only reason could see buying this over tge sur ron would be local laws because this had pedals and sur ron doesn't
*So far so good my **Latest.Bike** , 35 miles so far, been great. Changed seats, makes the ride a little better. Lot of power, happy with purchase.*

Awesome review Bro I totall agree 100% EVERYTHING that you said 100% right on all points !!
Insightful review. Have been wondering about the reliability.
Hello reliability' has been really good only had one small problem with the power switch in 2000 miles.
I wanted this bike for long time but the delivery wait time is what turned me off. Maybe in the future
I know I think my son waited two months but I do not think there is a long wait anymore onyx website shows 14 days.
The wait time is not 2 months anymore theyll ship it in like 2 weeks I ordered mine 6 months ago and got it in 3 weeks

I’m learning this area and all these trails from all the different e bikers I’ve been watching
That's funny you mention that I was thinking about doing a video about the riding places around here, showing where they are.

Yeah we found some halfway decent shots I did a of video on them, as far as the battery cover you could always wrap it in any color you want
the RCR AND THE Suron are the current kings of ebikes however top speed and rcr leaves the suron in the dust with the sickomode mod turned on
