They were greeted by all the enthusiasm of a grateful community.
Amidst a makeshift peace in Kosovo, British paratroopers received a warm welcome by Pristina's ethnic Albanians on Monday.
The soldiers were showered with kisses and flowers.
One soldier was lucky enough to receive a much needed cup of coffee from a local resident.
But there is growing concern that the diversity of the K-FOR forces will rouse partisan feeling amongst the different communities in the Balkan conflict.
Tensions remain.
British paratroopers on Sunday fatally shot a Yugoslav police reservist in Pristina, after the man fired at a NATO patrol.
In Prizren, the province's second-largest city, German troops responded to heavy sniper fire, killing an armed man and wounding another.
Since the deployment of NATO forces, troops have been cautiously trying to avoid sniper fire and hostilities.

" The locals keep coming up, the amount of flowers we have been getting, we could start our own florist. They keep giving us bread, food, water anything we need. The house that's standing here, the bloke who's looking after it said we can doss, sleep, here anytime we like and do our patrols from here as long as we want. There's running water which is nice and quite hot as well. We've had baths, showers, and nice shaves- the first one in a
fortnight - it feels nice."

Those are not ordinary soldiers, they are the Paras, and they would have massacred anyone who tried to hurt the civilians they were protecting.
Good to see NATO commanders took the civillians' safety so seriously in this town.

Those UK soldiers for us Kosovans in the capital Prishtina are the most lovely and special not just soldier's, people. For us, they are a true living heroes. Still today, even that more than 20 years has pass, when ever i see this video and other videos from the same mission,. i use to cry. Those guy in UK Military, have make possible to me enjoying for the first time on my life the freedom. We still love you where ever you are.

I was your same age, i had to go to Albania for few month because our house was destroyed by Slavic-Servs. I stayed in tirana, an Albanian familly keept us, it was me and some of my familly members and at that moment i understood why SERVS hated us! Because we were strong, united and inseparable. An orthodox Albanian familly keept me and i will always remember them and their son "Donald" who told me "remember we are all the same blood, same history, same language no one can amd will divide us... Slavs will never be our friends all of them, muslim and christian slavs" till now i have always keept that saying, it stuck inside my brain and nawadays i realize why SLAVS will never change. They can change religion, god, languagr but in the end they will always be the same shit no matter what.

Beautiful scenes. During the war in my country the British troops came to evacuate their people. The order was for them to get their people and leave. But then they decided to check out the town a little more. Lots and lots of people were happy to see them and were hoping that they would stay to save them from the lunatic killers. That's exactly what their commander did. Great man. He stayed and with some slight show of force the rebels ran away. That turned out to be a very crucial decision during the war. It contributed a great deal to the end of the war because the rebels realized that they wouldn't get away with their madness anymore. Respect to the British troops.
