Russian soldiers have turned back British and French NATO troops from Pristina on the second day of their occupation of the city's airport.
NATO troops had hoped to use the strategic airfield as its headquarters.
Despite the standoff, NATO Supreme Commander General Wesley Clark has insisted the airport is not crucial and that K-FOR was never going to use it for any deployment purposes.
The standoff at Pristina airport has entered its second day with Russian troops turning back NATO forces early on Sunday morning.
Russian troops blocked a road near the airport in the Kosovar capital to British K-FOR tanks and soldiers late on Saturday night.
As daylight broke the impasse continued with the Russians allowing local traffic through their makeshift checkpoint, but refusing K-FOR troops access along the road to their local headquarters and to the airport.
Reporters at the scene said that there was at least one more Russian A-P-C further along the road.
Russian and Serb troops are still showing no signs of allowing the troops into the airfield.

"Our mission was to deploy a tactical fuel depot here at Pristina airport, but when we arrived half an hour ago Russians and Serbians told us that it was impossible to enter into the airport."

Despite the difficulties at the Pristina airport, British troops have busily fanned out around the perimeter of Pristina, taking up positions along main roads.
Soldiers are reconnoitering the area, searching for helicopter landing sites and setting up field headquarters.
The NATO security force was initially expected to set up its command centre at the airport, but that facility's status now remains unclear.
NATO and Russian commanders met face-to-face on Saturday to discuss control of the airport, which the Russians took over after arriving unexpectedly in Pristina early on Saturday.
At least 100 additional Russian troops are expected to move soon into Kosovo from nearby Bosnia.
Russia had been expected to take part in the peacekeeping force, but U-S Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott has failed in negotiations so far to resolve differences with Moscow over who would command the Russians and where they would be based.

Quality of life in Russia is rising despite setbacks.
Currently Russia sees itself as successfully fending of strategic attacks led by the US.
US is considers itself the world policeman and boss while Russia disagrees, which means it is evil. US has a lot of good and cheap stuff but its society is crumbling to pieces. The free press is full of lies. Universities produce hordes of leaders of the communist revolution. Free speech is basically gone. The US continues to meddle in the politics of other countries causing war, hunger, death and migration. I don't think the US is evil but it is the end of US led order and it doesn't know how to handle itself. Even the rule of law is evaporating.

I was here at the time of this. I was on the ground one day in Kosovo, then a couple of days later (having left the AOL through Macedonia), I was on the first flight in to Pristina APOD. Very hairy situation. BMP and BMD guns pointing in our direction as we landed. It stayed like this for months. The only way the situation was relieved a little was by sharing our fuel. They had zero fuel to operate their vehicles and no money to purchase it, all used up on the redeployment from Bosnia to Kosovo. A weird situation to say the least.
They have no logistics transport route and all attempts for air transport will be stopped by nato. Yugoslav communist regime attempted to import s300s but this was stopped at the right time.
yea i heard about the redeployment how Russians tricked Nato by secretly and as it said it all happened so fast they had to redeploy to the airport before the nato does and in record time 700 km were passed with wat was left of fuel and armament but the order was to be there before any1 else and not let any1 there

I'll say it: Russians and Europeans have a true sense of honor that we do not have one bit of here in the not so hot USA. We live like idiots and look at the food people eat. I am so angry and disappointed in my country that constantly the thought of moving to Russia when I'm older in age than now (I'm nearly 40) is becoming more and more of a reality. I would move to Italy, France, Germany, Russia, any number of countries in the true world the old world. Look at their history and look at what good people they are. As Maria stood in front of her home crying, her Albanian Catholic neighbors told her that KLA members had committed the killings. Both victims had their throats cut. *"They (KLA) took the old man's pants off and threatened him with a gun. They told him that they'd rip his eyes out of their sockets. Then they took the blunt end of a knife and gave him these two black eyes. They asked him: "Whose country is this?" When my brother-in-law answered that it's for everyone, they weren't satisfied. They said it belongs to the KLA, and they forced him to say this."*
*"He and his friends in KLA uniforms began to beat me again. Then he took his gun which was empty and said, "Kill me." I said, "I don't know how to use it." He hit me in the head. Someone [else] began beating me with a baseball bat. The KLA commander and two others and two women took me to another room. He had a pair of scissors and told me, "We're going to cut your fingers and ears off."*
*"Killings of Serb civilians took place near the village of Gracko, in central Kosovo. Fourteen farmers were shot dead as they harvested hay in the single biggest massacre since KFOR entered the province. The farmers were reportedly shot at close range."*
Another set of killings took place on June 19 in the village of Belo Polje, near Pec. *Visiting the village a day later, a Human Rights Watch researcher viewed the bodies of three ethnic Serb men, each of whom had been killed by a shot between the eyes at point-blank range. Serb villagers who claimed to have witnessed the attack told Human Rights Watch that ten uniformed KLA soldiers entered the village and "executed" the three men at approximately 5:30 p.m. One man was killed in the street in front of the Stosic home; another was killed by the front door of the house, and the third was killed inside the house, on the second floor.*
*According to the Serbian Orthodox Church in Pec, approximately thirty Serbs were killed in the Pec municipality in the months of June and July, although the circumstances of their deaths are mostly unknown. Malica Miric, twenty-six, was allegedly killed by two men, one in KLA uniform, in Belo Polje on June 26. Milena Vujsevic was allegedly killed by unknown assailants in her Pec home on June 27.*
*There have been multiple killings of Serbs in Kosovo's capital, Pristina. On June 23, the body of Milenko Lekovic, a Serb professor for the economics faculty, was found in the faculty's basement, along with the bodies of Miodrag Mladenovic, a Serb guard in the building, and Jovica Stamenkovic, a Serb waiter from a cafe in the building. Lekovic and the other men had been shot and beaten with a blunt instrument. Human Rights Watch has also received a report about the killing of four elderly men from the village of Slivovo in Pristina
*Several security incidents in the town of Lipljan appear linked to efforts to force Serbs to leave. Exactly a week after the decapitation of a Serb in the town's market on July. 75, there were four grenade attacks on Serb homes in Lipljan in the early afternoon, killing one person.*

I hate the fact NATO expanded to any nation that directly borders Russia, I don’t agree with that membership due to sphere realities. Agreements for weapons exchanges on both sides yeah. However The Balkans is in Central Europe....it effects Western Europe and the US not in great ways to have a quarter of a continent in a genocidal, mass rape war. If the refugees effect and is in line with international law, by 75%+ UNGA agreement, that’s bs, self assured anihilation over territory that DOESNT border Russia within ANY hundreds, only thousands of miles. That’s the European backyard. Everyone has an interest in smothering out any flames or radical behavior there if needs to be and I wish Russia would participate. However the forces are helping it and it’s not helping and wasting a lot of Russia’s money and relationships with the outsider world for no benefit if Russia can maintain the base and 50% of agreements with whatever future govt combining the moderate SAA and SDF/Kurdish forces begin. The nations ignore Russia in slot of international affairs, and they need Russia, so if they keep what they have why stay? I mean it’s a screw up we did in Iraq and payed for a lot later.
