"hector had no idea that the area he was in was one of the lowest points the track of the roller coaster ran through" how does a person have no idea? just look around... man, that's so weird. were his eyes closed as he went into the area? this just doesn't make sense to me lol. having no idea you're around roller coaster track as you enter a forbidden zone. WEIRD.
I used to work as a ride operator at a Six Flags theme park when I was a teenager. If this guy would've informed one of the operators that his wife lost her hat, they would've been told to come back when the park closes for the day, and they would be happy to retrieve it. It would take too much time to close down the ride and perform a lock out (absolutely necessary) while the park is still open.
We've reached a point where everyone and everything needs to be bubble wrapped. I don't need to understand the language when there's a roller coaster track above my head
This took place nearly 50 years ago, when safety standards were not as strict as they are today. No one should have been able to enter that area, whatever you might think about "bubble wrap(ped)."
@@gjk540More like 25 years. This type of thing can still happen today if someone is determined enough to ignore signs and fences, which is universal for Stay Out - its dangerous (if fast moving Rollercoaster cars aren't enough of a deterrent).
@@gjk540 it was nowhere near 50 years ago, this happened in the 90s. 🇺🇲 Very sad death, and injury for the two people in this rollercoaster tragedy... I worked at Marriott's Great America in Gurnee, IL, in 1978 as a fifteen-year old kid (now called: Six Flags). Back then, they had a cable-car sky ride high above, and all the way across the park. It was a huge attraction, with long lines, & wait times. I really loved it. But it had no safety really, other than to obey the rules, to stay seated! By the early 80's, the Sky Car ride was gone! Completely removed, without a trace! And no mention of it in history, that I could find; and very few people even remember it's existence! At that time, when I asked about the reason why it had been dismantled and removed so suddenly, no-one had a definitive answer... Somebody said it was too dangerous... Someone else said it was too costly for maintenance in the harsh illinois winter weather, if the main cable rusted, or eroded... And some kids told me a guy fell out and died! And the park suppressed the news story, to avoid lawsuits... I knew that was very possible I never found out why that Sky Car cable ride got removed, but have remained curious about it to this day! You can just make out the Sky Car cable ride in old photographs of the park from that Era, late 70's, early 80's online. Maybe you could take a look, and ask some questions about it? If a death had occurred, it's possible the park, and the local officials covered-up the incident, and claimed other reasons as to why the ride was dismantled. Did other Great America amusement parks also feature the Sky Car cable ride? And if so, were they too, removed early on? And what was the reason given? Have YOU ever heard of this ride? Or of anyone falling out?
That was so sad! But I’d have to agree he should’ve known he was in a dangerous place considering the track was near him. Nevertheless I feel awful for him! All he wanted to do is make his wife happy. I hope she doesn’t blame herself. That poor woman on the roller coaster! I would definitely be freaked out for awhile after that! . I’m actually surprised it wasn’t worse. But mentally she’s going to need therapy. Thx for another interesting video & I’m watching out for the next one! ♥️
You don't climb a fence without knowing that you are somewhere you are not supposed to be. If you were allowed there you would go through a door or gate. You would not have to climb over a fence. Language was not the problem.
All that because of a hat. It's so sad but it's also an example of the absence of common sense. You don't need to understand a language to know not to jump fences and go under rides at theme parks. Hard to feel bad for him. Typical lack of common sense on his and his wife's part (because who actually wears a hat on a ride like this). Also, one doesn't need to speak the language to see a clear warning sign with a big word in red on the fence. What could that possibly mean🤔🙄 I only feel bad for the lady who became an innocent victim and was scarred for life.
