Should’ve would’ve could’ve. The only two police officers I’ve seen who paid any consequences were the man that killed George Floyd… and the other young man, who was using his gun and badge to intimidate women-while he was on duty-into having sex which is a nice way of saying he r a p e d them. and I’m talking a lot of women…. The same thing happened to me when I was pulled over after work when I was 19 years old… The cop could see I was vulnerable and young and cute with a short skirt on… He kept flashing his flashlight down at my crotch, telling me to lift my skirt up. This was BEFORE body cams or smart phones. There are some good cops out there, but sadly events like that just shatter your trust…. Now whenever I see a car behind me when I’m driving, I go into a full panic attack even if I haven’t done anything wrong because I did nothing wrong that night… I go into full sweating and my body shakes… It’s a horrible feeling 😢

When that was announced in the news, everyone I know wanted to slap those jurors. What in the hell were they thinking? Anyone who saw all the police body-cam footage should have found that cop guilty... unless they were totally blind. Glad to know that Daniel's family will at least have financial stability, even though it doesn't make up for losing a son, husband, & father. Oh my god I feel sick after watching that…I feel like I’m just in a state of horror now. Daniel looked like your average American. He didn’t even look threatening or menacing! To keep yelling at them/him and never ask (once they were “subdued”) if they had any medical problem or if they had been drinking or taking drugs is incomprehensible! You can see he gets visibly confused and thoroughly apologizes after the couple mistakes. Again, once they were on the floor, one of the officers should have still had their gun pointing at the two while the other officer patted them down. This absolutely never ever needed to go the way it did.
I’d have been terrified out of my mind! I have the utmost respect for the police and I know some personally that are great people and great at their job. Most police are great at their job. That a**h*** seemed to think all being a cop was to be aggressive. Clearly he’s not a great guy if he only tried to get reinstated for money. Now cops risk their lives daily potentially and that’s got to be terrifying in the back of their minds, but to have the mentality of shooting first at even just a slight movement isn’t someone that should be a cop. They need to have a clear, calm head and I wish officers would shoot someone in the arm or leg to disarm/subdue them. I get that it can’t always happen, but when you also have tasers, I don’t understand going full force of shooting before understanding the situation.
I know it was a call about a gun and so the cops needed to be very careful, but like I said before, to not check them once they were subdued is ridiculous to me. They could’ve known safely and easily that neither were armed and they were trying their best to follow directions! Oh and that bs about the cop being afraid that Daniel was going to try and ambush them while crawling is just insane. He was only crawling because that’s what the dang cop told him to do. He likely would’ve never approached them because of the fear that he may be killed.
I kinda feel like I’m rambling and so I apologize. I just feel like there are a billion thoughts about the video going through my head. To take a life so callously and to lose your life while trying to do what you’re told is an absolute tragedy. I thank the police out there in the world that treat the job with honor and respect for the law and for their fellow people! I send my deepest sympathies to his whole family; I just can’t even imagine having that happen. I know there are no words to make the pain better, but I do hope they eventually find some peace.
Thank you for another excellent video! It’s one I just can’t get my head around for sure.

I completely agree with your comments and analysis of Shaver's slaying. I've watched the uncut video in the hotel hallway. He's clearly terrified, at least half drunk, and trying to comply with their orders. He's in a t-shirt and gym shorts. It's hard for me to believe he looked armed or appeared to be a threat. They treated him like some known violent felon or a terrorit suspect.

    Hello ❤ !
Thanks to you as well as the gentleman who emailed you for calling attention on this horrific case of blind police brutality.
There are so many fake cries for officers violating their power and rights. But still, fact is that cases like Daniel's exist, and are still way too many each year.
I honestly say that I was not afraid to live in a semi-shady neighborhood of Los Angeles, but what I feared was police enforcement. Not that I ever was involved in any police activity, I never held a gun in my life or broke the law, but like Daniel, exactly such a case can and will occur again.
Now that was back in the 90s I'd live and work in LA for 12 (wonderful!) years. Eventually I've been pulled over for speeding, and I remember how my knees would shake! Later I realized how messed up I must have looked to the officers, as if I'd hide something much bigger. Luckily I'd get away with a fine and online traffic safety education (the very first of its kind, lol).
RIP to Daniel and my deepest sympathies to his wife, children, his family and friends.

Hello everyone, I’m Joseph and I relayed this story to The Cellar in hopes of one day seeing this very video in his amazing and unique style. To be passionate about a subject like investigative journalism and maintain objectivity, whilst simultaneously displaying such a high degree of empathy and respect is not easy. Some would even say contradictory, but he somehow pulls it off every time, something that continues to impress me.
I found this story when I was looking to make sense of my own experience with excessive force and corruption by men who should not be wearing that uniform. When I watched the body cam footage of what was done to Daniel Shaver I actually felt physical, visceral pain. That kid was no threat to anyone, he was so terrified that he was shaking. He was having trouble breathing and speaking. That is not the behavior of a man looking to attack 5 armed men in close quarters. And his death was not the result of self-preservation instincts and a desire to defend fellow officers, it was an execution by a psychopath wearing an officer’s uniform. The fact that he got early retirement and counseling for PTSD while Mr. Shaver’s children, wife, and parents had the most important person in their lives ripped away from them is an injustice so perverse it’s incomprehensible. At the time I learned of Shaver’s story that was all the information there was, so I’m grateful that The Cellar was able to discover and share more extensive information and other details that were unknown to me. I hope both Mrs. Shaver’s and Daniel’s children have some measure of peace from their settlements, since once again justice seems to elude us. And I hope the Officer and his Sergeant both rot in hell for eternity.

When I first saw it when it was going on my first thoughts were how Linda would’ve been sick at the way these police officers, and I use that term loosely here, the way these men handled that situation. The behavior of police and stressful situations was a frequent topic of conversation between the two of us and it was surprising to me. How seldom she would take the side of the cop. Even when the civilian involved was being a total jackass, she would point out that the police were trained to deal with jackasses and to de-escalate. She had already passed when this became a new story, but I can still imagine her incredulity at the actions of the police.

@@kathyinwonderlandl.a.8934 We knew each other for nearly 50 years but only became a couple in her last 5 years. I owned a home in Oregon but lived with her in New Mexico for a year until til she retired and then we returned to Oregon. We played music together professionally and she became an accomplished marijuana grower. A few of my friends were suspicious and judgmental of her because of her life as law enforcement. It was disappointing to see friends I had known for years being disrespectful to her.
Throughout her career she was well aware of the impact she could have on people’s lives and refused to judge even the people she arrested without knowing the person’s situation. She helped several people improve their lives through this understanding. Meanwhile my friends judged her without knowing her. They all came around but still, …

Wow, just wow. What a bloodthirsty, powertripping, s.o.b.
It's a damn shame both officers escaped true justice but at the very least neither of them remain on the force.
It's stuff like this that make me afraid of the police. Obviously the ones that act like this are the minority, however upon encountering officers, it's not exactly like you can tell which ones are going to be "good" or "bad" just by looking at them...and even if you could, what can you do about it?

I have heard of this story and watched the whole video from beginning to end; from the cop cam perspective. The confusion was apparent as the officer(s) were SCREAMING orders at this guy; constantly threatening to SHOOT and kill him. Contradictory orders to impossible orders to follow.....listen carefully and explain to me how ANYONE can keep their feet crossed, keep their arms straight in the air and crawl forward all at the same time. Physically ridiculous. I actually tried it myself and there is no way to do it. To crawl; knees automatically uncross; arms go to the ground...have you ever seen a toddler crawling??? Knees and hands on the ground; go forward. There was NO way this guy could comply.....cops were SO F-ING ridiculous....so sad...over a pellet gun....

In the British Army we call what these cops were attempting to do a "hard stop", the idea is to immobilise the target. Once the person is sitting on his crossed legs with his hands interlocked, one of the team should have moved forward and plasti-cuffed him. I spent many years on counterinsurgency operations but never witnessed anything like this, it was amateurish, totally unprofessional. The drill is designed to instil fear in the suspect, in this case however it seems the cops also instilled fear in themselves. This would be considered a war crime in any theatre of operations I have experienced.

    • @TheCellarTrueCrime
      @TheCellarTrueCrime  5 месяцев назад +1

Thank you for your input. I thought the same. Why wasn’t he approached and cuffed/detained. Why make him crawl to them and play this elongated game…. Oh wait.. because they wanted him to give them a reason to pull the trigger. I don’t see any reasoning for deadly force being used here
