  • Power banks, portable USB chargers, battery banks... Whatever you want to call them, they're very handy for charging your gizmos on the go. The only trouble is that almost all of them take AGES to recharge themselves. Even though many models support Quick Charging of your gizmos, the power bank itself usually only gently sips juice from the wall outlet as it leisurely refills its internal lithium-ion cells. Typically, you may have to wait upwards of 14 HOURS for a full recharge! That's not very convenient. Enter the RAVPower 26800mAh USB C Power Bank - with 30W quick-charging INPUT for a full recharge time of only 4-5 hours! But the fun doesn't stop there...

    I only go for brand power banks, so Samsung and Xiaomi. Their 10.000mAh power banks are USB-C, fast charge both themselves and the devices up to 15-18W and won't break my device because they are official. They are also made of metal and are dirt cheap. Having 2 of those on hand is good enough for my needs.
    My Xiaomi power bank supports in/out on the USB-C as well, but I never used it bc I don't have a USB-C to USB-C cable and the USB-A fast charges as well. It also has a wireless pad, so I use it as a charger at night, and it always stays topped off.

      Well, that's weird... In all the times I have shopped for a power bank not ONCE did I find a Samsung! I found the 10000mAh Sammy with quick charge - 72€! Maybe they're just not popular in these parts.

    I picked up a power bank on Amazon that has solar panels on the top to help charge it. I just leave it near a light or window and it stays topped off. It has a flashlight and a small compass built in as well, so that is fun.

    Excellent video ! I thank you for the knowledge. (Looking for a good recharger to my Baseus power bank I use for my Steamdeck - lol. Deck needs at least 45w power going into it, in order to charge - so most regular ones for Cell Phones only aren’t strong enough) 🤓

    Thanks for the explanation about type C ...
    Have a look at Jump Start power packs .. they can be used to start a car etc...
    some are blocks like you showed and some have a handle..
    Some have 5v, 12v, 19v outputs, one had type C output...
    others have a small inverter or tyre inflator etc...
    then getting larger again .. go on to what are described as solar generators.. (no jump start) typically solar mppt 200w, inverter 600w/240v.. etc...
    It's a balance of money and what you want to charge...
    Go into the less portable realms and you get more for your money...

    cool, that's the one i already have. bought it before the initial corona hysteria. it's unavailable on uk amazon now though, maybe theyre upgrading and adding more type c ports. i felt the microusb meant it was a tranistionary device, along with the fact the design was released a couple of years ago.

    Thanks.Can you damage the power bank with a fast charger? A have a power bank imput 5v/2A same brand and after i used fast charging plug is getting very hot and burning smell when discharging.

    • @ScottiesTech
      @ScottiesTech  Год назад +1

      A fast charger shouldn't cause any damage - probably an issue with wither the power bank itself or the fast charger. Fast chargers work by "talking" with the thing they're charging over the USB data lines, and negotiating a charge at a higher voltage. If there's no "discussion", then the fast charger just pretends it's a standard low-power USB port charging a regular gizmo.

    • @ScottiesTech
      @ScottiesTech  2 года назад

      It should be pretty straight forward to charge the power bank. One of the ports is usually for input (charging). If it didn't come with a charger, you can grab something like this: amzn.to/3b3Xmr3
      Then also get a USB cable that has the right connectors on each end, and you're all set. For example. this guy: amzn.to/3OnyQQp is for normal USB (type A) to USB 'micro B' (which is the older small connector used on most power banks). USB C is like the teeny micro B connector, but it's oval in shape instead of a trapezoid. Hope that helps!

    Can u use 65w charger on power bank tht doesn't support quick charges??

    • @ScottiesTech
      @ScottiesTech  3 года назад +1

      Sure, that'll work. It just won't charge the power bank more quickly unless the power bank itself supports quick charging. But everything is backwards compatible, so you don't have to worry about explosions or anything!

    Have you found any good solar charging chargers that work?

    • @ScottiesTech
      @ScottiesTech  3 года назад +1

      Not yet. Given the small size of your average power bank, even the best solar panel on that very limited surface area is gonna charge REALLY slowly. It's a fantastic idea, tho...When I need solar, I still use my Big Blue foldable solar panel (amzn.to/3owuDxx). It's not Quick Charging, but it's handy!

      Oh dear... I'm afraid they were right. Some products contained a $5 gift card if you post a positive review. I did post a positive review (becuz I really love the thing), but never got the gift card now that you mention it. I still use this one as my primary power bank, and it's still going strong and charging at lightspeed.
