I like the redesign, but the reason Stevens clothes stay on them the same each time is because they aren't fused- they're not made of light like the gem wear is

But the style of his shorts change on each fusion, they don't really make it consistent
@@alexthehopkins2529 I mean they fold up or tear. I imagine a fold can be established because pearls kinda a priss, they fold up over the thighs in Sunstone, and a tear with STEG and SMOKEYS pure size. STEG (I prefer to call him Mr Universe) DOES throw a wrench in this though as his shirt changes color entirely.
I’d say the biggest thing that goes against this is how Steven’s clothes completely disappear on Obsidian and after they defuse his clothes are completely fine. Personally, having a creative limit being “his clothes must stay the same” is kinda sad when it could be “his clothes must stay, but you can change the style or color of them if it makes the design better/more fun/easier to animate.”

I don't see these redesigns as "fixing videos." I see them as "how I would design these characters." Because sometimes WE HAVE IDEAS, but we don't even have to dislike the designs for these ideas to exist.

5:31 Steven being described as “smelling like warm hot dog water” is the best description I can think of for him in the pilot, I never could put my finger onto what felt weird about him and now I know exactly what to say lmao. Steven's fusions all wear his clothes because they aren't part of his body. They are, quite literally, not part of the fusion.
I love your redesigns. The Steven fusions were a let down when you think about all the other fusions being goddesses in their own rights. Everyone else's fusions ending with a magical pop, then you got the Steven fusions ending with a fart meme
my theory/headcannon about Sunstone's face head thingy is that there is a head and a neck there, but it's just covered in flames. like, imagine an episode where sunstone has to go underwater or get splashed with some water and the flame goes out to reveal a normal head and neck. to add on to that, they could either be forced to unfuse, or actually be completely fine because of the fact that sapphire, and thus her ice powers, are also in the fusion. so maybe Sunstone's flames could be doused, and they'd be completely fine????

I LOVE YOUR REDESIGNS!! Honestly the biggest issue I had with these fusions was the finale and how fast each one happened. I felt like they needed their own episodes like Smokey did. And for Sunstone specifically, I just couldn't see Sapphire anywhere in the fusion. You see her in Garnet because although Garnet looks more like Ruby, she has Sapphires personality. But with Sunstone it only felt like a fusion between Steven and Ruby
Your Rainbow Quartz 2.0 design makes so much sense, I think Pearl would have a lot more influence in the design because she would know what to expect with the appearance more than Steven would
The only fusions I really like are Opal, Obsidian, and Rainbow Quarts (the OG with Rose and Pearl)
They are so nice to look at for real. Especially Obsidian. Colors are perfect and the weapon is beyond badass. I want to see Obsidian again but i know it'll never happen 😢

Obsidian isnt what i was expecting looking at the stone temple, i figured she would be more...graceful?? not.....naked. the naked thing threw me off ngl, but they really grew on me so much
@@notroxa Naked??? I mean I guess she MIGHT not have "clothes" but theyre made of light so IDK. Technically no gem has "clothes" because it's just light energy that looks like it.

The BIGGEST glow up out of all three is Sunstone!! Your love for detail is one I admire, and it's clearly seen in all your beautiful designs!! Rainbow 2.0 is AMAZING. The design, the unity, how it fits with the characters - it's all just so AHHHHHHHH!! I can 100% say the same for Smoky as well!

I have to say that i absolutely LOVE how you bring shape back in their bodies. I noticed that often when they fuse their bodies become boxy and less human! oh my God but your recreation of sunstone was perfect!!

i love how this alludes to the body shape of fusion is linked with how alien they are(how much alien dna they contain) cause if you look at steven’s fusions with humans it makes total sense, see is like gigachad guy and stevonnie is like big person
I was actually really sad when I saw that she added shape back because like... Some people _do_ look like that, especially with shapes like Smokey's.
And also, maybe they don't look human because... They aren't? Just a thought.

I love sunstones personality, however their design always felt more Ruby & Steven, rather than Garnet & Steven to me.. like I don’t see Sapphire at all. Your design brings in the blue more making it feel more like Garnet. ☀️
YES! I was just saying that all Sapphire got was a pocket and sunglasses. Ruby got a lil more in Garnet’s design, but it was still pretty well balanced, meanwhile Sunstone just threw her awayyyy

For those unaware- I do want to quickly add that Smoky uses They/Them and that Rainbow uses He/They and Sunstone uses She/They! Being nonbinary myself it means a lot when the like…10 characters in total in media that uses they/them are known! Love the art 💙

@@goldenbacon1572I tried looking it up, but honestly I’m still a little unsure lol. I’ve found stuff like twitter posts and things from the steven universe fandom, it seems to be officially so. For rainbow, it says theirs were confirmed by their char designer on twitter, Colin Howard (found on the fandom). Sunstone was confirmed on the steven universe podcast it says..? And smoky I’m not sure, i think it’s not official but implied smoky is labeled they/them through the show.

4:00 Fun Fact! Steven's clothes can be found on the fusion Obsidian. On the hand where the laundry line would be at the temple statue of Obsidian, you can see her have his clothes on her finger like a ring! My favorite redesign is Smoky Quartz, I love that you kept her body type. ☁️
If you do any more SU fusion redesigns, I'd love to see one for Malachite, Bluebird or Garnet herself. Or maybe some fan fusions Blue/Yellow Diamond fusion or the original Rainbow Quartz with a more Pink Diamond and OG Pearl outfit. Or a Garnet/Peridot fusion for when she offered her to fuse❤ God bless! You're a wonderful artist with funny humor and editing, and I can't wait to see what other content you may make!🎉

People do have to remember that firstly, when Steven fused with any of the gems it was the first time, usually when gems fuse for the first time they don’t have a set appearance/outfit so the outfits aren’t gonna be too pleasing and also Steven’s clothes aren’t made of light so they can’t bend and mold with amethyst since her whole physical form is light, her clothes aren’t real unlike stevens. So that’s why all the gems who fuse with Steven will pretty much wear the same thing because of stevens clothes.

I loved all three. I loved their original designs already personally but you definitely enhanced them very well so much so that I couldn’t pick just one. I love Rainbow 2.0 being all frilly and puffy giving a very elegant yet but inviting look. Smoky already looked good but her new drip looks great. Sunstone to me was always a blast with how corny yet cool they were, I definitely prefer the clothes really giving the cool 90’s vibe though I do like how juiced up OG Sunstone was which made them different from Steven’s other fusions before Steg (or was it Stag, I’m bad at names)

My least favorite part of Rainbow 2.0 in the show, is the pants. They look too tight to me. Rainbow 2.0 should have Steven's blood veins. But those pants strangle those veins from the knee down.

Your 🌈 design and fit? Life-changing, the whimsy and fit is off-the-charts, I really like how it feels like there's more references to both Pearl and Steven (and even Rose, which makes so much sense, love that) than the original design. All of the designs were so amazing honestly, glad Sunstone finally got justice too

The only thing I'm disappointed with the original sunstone was their weapon, like wtf, they got Steven's shield and Garnet's gauntlets, and they came up with those weird ass suction cup climbing thing, like they could've made an armor for them or something

Smoky Quartz is my favorite fusion* and I love the redesign you came up with! They're such a fun, relatable, and warm character, so seeing them with a bit of a glow-up to make them look even better just made my day.
*I don't include Garnet when I think of these things because A) she's a main character so her appearances feel less "special occasion," and B) she'd win every time anyway. XD

I'll say this much on clothing, if they're made of light, they can project over the clothing presumably, whether like a hologram or the clothes are just Somewhere In There as part of the fusion's internal structure.

I'm not a big fan of redesigns but THIS.. this is it! Coming from your newer video & then seeing this.. wow! You are an amazing artist & obviously a dedicated fan! Maybe I do like redesigns maybe I've only seen ppl who don't give as much detail & homage to the org.
These are SO good that I really wish they would've been the final designs or at least very similar final designs in the show!!! It just makes more sense, and way more appealing to the eye! I didn't even realize what bothered me until you pointed it out, then I was like- oh yeah.. yeah that's what it is.
😂 Didn't realize 85% of the problem was that f-ing Greg's crusty ass old band merch Steven wears for the entirety of the show. It is kinda odd how in your face it is, but other elements whether it's Connie's clothes, Amethyst.. Pearl.. Garnet! It's really unbalanced & extremely refreshing to see these outfit changes when that would've fixed most of the problems! You geniusly implement everything so well!!!! I can't praise you enough! Again, this is coming from someone who doesn't like redesigns, but I wish your designs had the final say in the show! It would've been so much better, so thank you for this!!
