All I ever do is drive at night. All of these points are very accurate and true. Always pay attention to everyone as they approach your vehicle. When you’re approaching the pick up location it’s important to always park where you will be able to see the rider(s) approach your vehicle. As I pull up to a location I always leave my Suburban in drive with my foot on the brake until I see the riders and deem them to be safe. Keep your doors locked until you’re ready for your riders to get in and never park where you block yourself in and can’t simply keep driving forward in the event that you need to leave. Always be aware of your surroundings. Be aware of the types of neighborhoods you pick up in. Night time driving is the best in my opinion. It’s just you, your riders and the wide open road.
I like night time driving but only to a degree. Sunday nights until 1159 pm. It's difficult for me to wake up early the next day and enjoy the following day if I stay working past mid night plus the pax are like Vegas, increases the risk factor of picking up the inebriated
@@stayng oh yeah I know what you mean. There's definitely that factor where the later you're picking people up usually the drunker they are or there's just some issue going on with them at times lol
6 years driving Uber and no one puked. Until last Sunday AFTERNOON!! Even if I had bags it wouldn’t have helped. She threw up so quickly. I’m horrified of driving people again!
There's a good 3-piece cleaning kit that car detailers use. You keep the three bottles and some microfiber towels in your trunk organizer. You can clean it instantly, if it should happen. People exaggerate this - and you are proof of it. Just once in six years.
Greg, while I would definitely be horrified, I would look at it like once in 6 years?! You’re good for at least another 6 years! 😬🤷♂️Having said that, I’m grabbing the mentioned three piece puke cleaning kit asap and recommend every driver so the same, thanks for that! 👏
Full time Uber driver in Las Vegas and I can confirm that absolutely nothing in this video applies in this market. Stuck up, entitled, pretentious girls, pimps and hookers and overall people who can't handle Vegas..... basically a million ways to have that one girl report you and ruin your job. Definitely don't advise it I stopped doing late night crowd a few months ago and I'm much happier and making more money
I’m in a big city market too very similar to Las Vegas, think of Las Vegas in the East coast, (Miami). Anyhow, I agree with you, most of what Jay is talking about does not apply in my market, no bonuses, no incentive for driving weekends nights all the way to the morning hours…I’m generally working on Fridays and Saturdays anywhere from 9 or 10 pm to 8 or 9 am and we are hardy getting any surge prices too. Unfortunately Uber and Lyft aren’t what used to be. And I do agree that at night there is no traffic which is one of the reasons I do it and for that reason I have always been surprised that Uber and Lyft do not pay more at night since there should be less drivers wanting to do nights, plus really is more difficult, more dangerous, it requires more customer service, even driving is more dangerous since there are a number of drivers that are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and those drivers are driving so fast that if they hit you, it could be deadly. Again, unfortunately none of that is important to Uber and Lyft and they aren’t or won’t do anything about it because the main reasons they aren’t offering more money, bonuses or incentives is because they both have an excessive number of drivers all days, all nights, weekdays, and weekends. There is so many drivers here that “Trip radar” is almost nonexistent here. When I get them, just by the time I open them to see the info. it tells me another driver already got it, at least 90 percent of those few I’m able to open are taking right away by another driver.
@@ardoario4990 Trip radar is a scam. It does not always mean that someone else got it. Sometimes it shows me one and I press on it but it tells me in red that another driver got it, then half a second later I get that same trip. The algorithm makes you think that someone else clicked on it but I believe it assigns it automatically at some point. And I have had times when it pops up already with that red message lol. I don't click on them anymore because it's just an annoying distraction. The ones that stay on are the ones that pay nothing and not worth it, and you can see that by the count that multiple drivers have looked at them and nobody took them.
Vegas driver here too. Uber sucks!! Mofos wont bring back the surge. Also u should put ur rate on at night runs to 4.9+ yea u still do get those assholes but u have a higher chance of getting better riders
I figured this out within the first few weeks of driving. Made bank so much bank that I moved my business. 60/hr. Drove 9p to 3a for 5 years. YOU MISSED THE BOAT!
Been doing 9pm to 3am lately Pros: No traffic, music sounds better at night, customers are sleepy so they generally don’t try to talk to you. Cons- Can get slow during weekdays, feels sketchy at times (Idk if I’d advise women to do it), you will get tired if your not trained to drive late. (Will try that keto drink when I get a chance)
I love the late night drunks who tip cash. They often over-tip to begin with. Then they wake up the next day, check the app and freak out that they forgot to tip since they can’t remember most of last night. So they over-tip again through the app!
If it wasn't for safety I would do more late-night. I love the fact that late-night riders are more laid back. Late-night riders are more talkative and don't mind the music you play. Daytime riders are more uptight except for a few here and there.
That makes no sense you say they are more laid back then say if not for safety , so does make sense it's Dangerous and not laid back is it or laid back and safe.
I don't drive at night at all, or weekend. I stop at $350 a day, regardless of how long it takes. Usually 6 to 8 hours. But this is Honolulu, the best market in the US.
@SoloHiker1 it takes longer than 6 to 8 hours to make $350 a day here, but since this post I stopped driving after 10 or 11 p.m. There's been a lot of carjackings here.
For the past seven years, my motto has been. I’ll bring them to the bar so somebody else can take them home. Nobody has ever gotten sick in my car yet. I guess I’ll have to try late night and see how it works out.
Been doing overnights for 3 months..A lot of true things here. But most of the time if they don't tip in cash they will not tip in the app because they are too wasted too remember. The vomit bags saved me 3 times already. I would not advocate running any red lights though 😂.
I'm pretty exclusively a night time driver. I don't agree with you regarding the music... 😉 Other than that your review was good regarding the drunks, but the majority of my rides are riders who are the swing, night or very early morning workers; fork lift operators who meet the semi trucks at the stores.... caregivers, nurses, doctors, truck drivers who re going to be gone 3 to 5 days droving and don't want to leave their vehicles at the depots. The riders are always so grateful so customer satisfaction is very high.
I try to avoid the after-bar riders because my experience has been that they are less likely to tip at all (though they do tend tip well when they tip at all), they are less coherent and less considerate. So I like to get up and start my day at 4am, take people to the airport for early flights, pick up as many reservations as I can and drive until about noon or 1pm.
I dropped off 3 drunk passengers in one ride,3 stops. first persons gave me a $10 cash tip. The second person asked what his buddy gave, he upped it with a$20 tip. the third person was apologetic because he ran out of money at the event. Total trip was $11 plus $30 in tips.
I'm a night driver and really enjoy it. I keep the barf bags in each door and in the pocket in the seats. I have learned to not be afraid to say something as soon as somebody drunk gets in my car. I just tell them where the bags are and there's no judgment. Just use them if you need them.
#8 safety. There's a reason 3rd shift on weekends pays more. I believe you're telling the truth. I'm just not willing to risk my life to find out for sure.
Good points. In my market, Fri & Sat nights are for all practical purposes the only time you can count on seeing at least some surge. People taking ubers to go out for entertainment purposes tip better than weekday day riders taking ubers for utility (work, shopping, etc). Traffic (lack of) is a big deal. It's not just that it's nicer having less traffic to contend with. It's the time factor. Far far less time spent stuck in traffic, waiting at traffic lights, etc. translates directly into your bottom line hourly earning rate.
You take risks driving drunken chaps late at night you'll find out how things will turn out. Remember it takes one heroic puke to make your car smell bad forever no matter how many cleanings you'll do.
Risk adjusted, he actually made less. He was lucky for a night, but eventually despite all his best efforts, he gets someone, with his/her friends, in his car who has had too much to drink. Throwing up in his car is bad enough, but even worse is belligerent drunks…
Just finishing my shift in L.A. 4 p.m. - 2 a.m. We get paid for distance. I dial in LAX 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. [if needed]. Roads move quick. Difference between $15-$18/hr. To $35-$38hr. As per music, depends on the rider I haven't seen any bonuses tho Just able to drive more efficiently My day trips tend to tip higher however
This is something I learned from the get-go. Less traffic means you can get from A-B faster, and complete more rides. When you're not moving, you're not getting paid.
I drive 5pm to 4am most people are either going to work getting of work going to the airport or leaving the airport. Had drunk people but no one ever got sick in the car. I did have to pull over once or twice.
I only drive Friday and Saturday nights from 7pm - 3am( the latest). I usually do my last ride at 1am-1:30am, heading in the direction of my house. I don't buy barf bags. I use regular kitchen trash bags which I place on the sides of the doors. I believe that it is much better when the passenger can reach for them themselves. Also, I work the area where the people don't get wasted. They might have a couple of drinks to relax and have fun.
I haven't driven the whole late night but have been out 'til 3 AM several times. I have had some characters in my car for sure. Some can be a little scary angry drunks but talk to them and keep them calm and get them out of the car as fast as possible. I had a couple young ladies the one time someone puked. They wanted me to leave them in the middle of a bad neighborhood because she felt so bad about throwing up. I refused to do that. We cleaned up as best we could. I had trashbags for her to puke in and I drove them home. After that I got a $50 tip. Definitely made more money late night but some of those scary drunks make it unnerving. Something to consider if you really need the money or not.
7 yr. Uber driver exclusively at night. Emissis bags have saved me at least a dozen times. I have them everywhere in car since I started. You get a cover for back seat (scuba material)& weather tech mats. 2 times people puked between their legs. Puked on seat with cover and mat. It still will ruin your night though. Working at night time is not what it's cracked up to be. It's dangerous! Anytime you're dealing with alcohol there is likely to be a problem.
I've been driving late night 80% of the time for the last 6 years. Some of his points are valid, however I would not recommend breaking any traffic laws. While it is true that late night there is hardly any traffic but guess what? someone in the crossing traffic is thinking the same. I learned to slow down even when I have green and check both sides. Almost got sided by this guy running red light one time so I never take any chances. Late night crowd is different, you have to have a lot of patience and high threshold of tolerance for people's behavior especially the drunks. It all depends on what kinda drunk you picked up. Some of them are mean, some are friendly, so it all depends. I cannot keep my windows down every time I pick up a drunk person because of the weather but as soon as I hear the window being pulled down in the back, I slow down and pull over to the side of the road. That's a sign that they want to throw up, sometimes they tell you and sometimes they don't. You just have to assume the worst and ask them if they need you to pull over. I have had 3 people throw up in the car and many more outside. I also keep plastic bags in the car just in case and I let them know if they need one. Tips are a hit or miss with the drunk crowd. My market is a college town so I don't expect much tips when they are drunk. Uber bonuses used to be good for late night but not anymore in the last year or so. In general if you don't like traffic and you are an insomniac then late night driving would be the best option for you. There is also a lot of shady business going on at night. You have to be a little more careful with the crowd you pick up. I have been insulted and threatened on multiple occasions and there are areas where I stop any new requests if I'm dropping off someone there. You have to know the city well and avoid dangerous areas at night.
Hey Jay, Thanks for the info, I am a new driver. I mean my first day was Aug. 23rd with Uber. I've been just upping my hours and not making significantly more. I am also stand-off-ish about nights but not after this video. I'll get me some barf bags, and hit it. i also like the Ketone IQ idea as well. Thanks Man! A new Night time convert here!
In SLC Utah Lyft and Uber pay $20 an hour regardless of time of day. After expenses it is a $10 an hour job regardless of time. I've driven 6pm to 6am for a year and 6am to 6pm for a year. Ride share is the best $10 an hour job ever.
It’s extremely risky. Keep in mind that you can get 4 belligerent drunks in your car. All it takes for them to become violent is one of them requests you drive “a little” to a different location… Also, keep in mind that it often takes 20 minutes for Police to arrive - you need to fight 4 violent thugs for 20 minutes to survive, not end up unconscious on a respirator in an ICU, and even if you survive, with long-term disabilities… In short, risk adjusted, it’s not worth it.
Another benefit is No A/C if driving at night. During summer in LA when hot must use A/C at night No A/C. less wear on car. Night is very best in many ways.
Ketones are the molecules that are created when the body mobilizes the contents of fat cells. They can be used by almost all cells. That state is called ketosis. Brain cells will use them enthusiastically. If you're seriously interested in losing weight (emptying fat cells) you must reduce carb intake to the point that your body switches to ketones. When Jay drank his ketones, they were used preferentially, but he didn't burn any of his own fat, because that wasn't his goal. When my dementia symptoms start I'll be drinking ketones, too.
High level of ketones in your body is actually BAD. Your blood becomes acidic. This is what happens to people with diabetes - kidney and organ damage, brain swelling that can eventually cause a coma, and fluid buildup in your lungs. Read about keto-acidosis…
@@onedaily2471 I have. Now you read about nutritional ketosis. Ketoacidosis is a concern for type 1 diabetics, not for type 2 or people supplementing with MCT oil.
Jay - I'm about to start driving for Lyft and Uber. Your videos have encouraged me to overcome some natural inhibitions, and I appreciate that. What's the very best way for me to overcome some of those issues? Good information -- accurate and documented -- given in a no-BS, un-hyped fashion. Reason and logic. So, thanks! Also, I really wanted to study the data you've provided in this video. I've been reluctant to be out and around on Friday and Saturday nights myself. Sleep issues have pretty much dictated the easy to maintain the hours you describe here. This may be THE video of yours that put me over the top. In order to catch everything, which included viewing your numbers five times, I slowed this video's playback speed to 50%. You know what? Makes you look and sound more than a little tipsy! Thanks again, Steve V PS -- You expressed curiosity about how much income you may have missed out on by not driving Saturday nights. I'd suggest another way to look at that. It has to do with quality of life. A driver with other obligations, family, for example, might be able to drive 20% fewer hours to meet their income goals, according to your recent experience. Put another way, a driver might be able to earn as much in four days by driving Friday and Saturday nights, instead of their normal five days of driving. (With the quick acknowledgement that you've recorded just one night's data. Other drivers, in other locations, may do better or worse. Do like Jay and keep good records.)
Yep, totally worth it. 10pm to 2:30am is the sweet spot. I'll head out around 7 or 8 just to get into the groove and make sure I've got my car washed, supplies and fueled up. I keep to accepting trips with a premium...If you're drunk in my car, there's a premium for that. It usually goes from trips that just have an increased base fare, to full on surge. Many min trips that are $6-8 base fare, plus $5 - $20 surge.
question about how you start. Do you focus on airport runs, do you drive to a spot, or do you just accept everything. I'm just starting out, and i feel like i want to go where the action is, but i also want to avoid 'city' areas. too dangerous late night, but willing to work until 9 or 10pm
I know this is old, but it's given me an incentive to do the night "thang!" One other plus - you're seldom going to be dealing with luggage or airport drops.
I'm in phoenix, az been driving nights for almost 3yrs. Roughly 8pm to 6am. Most of what he says is correct. If have to add that i use less gas driving at night. Out of 6200 trips I've had 3 people throw up. Once in the car. $250 from uber. Once it the window $40 from customer and $70 fro. Uber. 3rd the girl got half on the back seat because boyfriend didn't hold bag right. $90 from uber. As long as you have a strong stomach is not bad. Odds of someone throwing up is pretty rare. Surges are there from concerts etc. Especially when bars close here at 2am. I've done days a couple times. Way more traffic. Use more gas sitting. 15min trip at night takes less than 15. Days it takes longer because of traffic. So i have more time at night for more trips. Oh and the stories and personalities at night are great.
Love your style, Jay! Been watching you since I started, we are very similar in our preferences, and I always seem to use your advice and it’s been working great, thanks man!!!👏
Better gas mileage when not running a/c constantly. I turn it off when no riders are in the car and get some fresh air. I drive 9pm-3am and do very well.
Umm . . . Thank you, Jay! Driving in Las Vegas over the late night shift has many more drawbacks than people puking in the car. Shucks! I had a lady puke in my car at 1:00pm, coming from her “lunch” of tequila! Drawback IS traffic. Concerts are ending, which might be a good thing, except it takes over an hour to get out of the venue area! Bad drivers here are common, then they get drunk and I’ve had more than a few riders who were t-boned by drunk drivers or drivers of stolen cars (who if they can still walk, run from the scene!). Sorry, but as long as I’m here, I’ll cut-out at 8:00pm and stick with my $700 week. I think drivers have to know their area before pulling “over-nighters!” Sometime it can be outright dangerous at the extreme and costly at the best. I’ve driven here for 5 years. I know the area! If you’re in the Bay Area, drivers are MUCH more tame and traffic IS much more light . . . Go for it! California drivers make way more than we do anyway, so your theory is kinda messy with the inequality.
Night time driving will take it's toll on your health. There is no way of keeping this up for a few days. It will wreck your entire week and only get worse.
@@mrhumboldthippy I’m not sure why people see gig work as fake. I see a lot of comments say “get a real job” as if this type of work pays in monopoly money.
You can make money if you are willing to work when other arent. A couple of things to consider is crime might be higher during these hours and even though the roads are empty this is the most dangerous time to drive. I got hit by a drunk driver a few years ago at 3 am. Vehicle had no lights on, blew a red light and hit me going freeway speeds. The ER doctor told me that 1-3 am was the most dangerous.
only once so far did someone vomit in my car. the cleanup wasn't so bad because it was mostly on the outside of door. I received a big tip for how I handled the ride (long pickup) and toward cleaning, which I did myself.
A tell-tale sign someone is about to throw up is you're driving them and one of them suddenly rolls down their window for fresh air. Plus Walgreens sells barf bags.
I love driving nights. Less traffic and less competition. Puking is pretty rare. I've been doing it for the last three years and I prefer it to day driving. It is a little more dangerous though. People do stupid things driving around at night.
I think it depends on your area, Our bars close at 3 am on weekends, earlier during the week, yes, I love picking up our college or military people at night, it’s a party in the car. during the week I found that I can make more in the early mornings. I had a few “appointments” which actually pay a little more, so I think it’s finding out and exploring your area is the key, if you are full timing, you have the freedom.
Another benefit of late night is you might get car jacked. Another benefit of late is you might get pulled over by the cops at check points. Another benefit of late night is it's dark and you can't see the pot holes in the road until you are in one.🤣
Really awesome tips thank u I agree w most Have been lucky doing xl most clients r pretty nice n responsible Pick high end areas and high end hotels and bars people r not Aholes
Puke is Liquid Gold $$$ easy $150 with a 10 min cleanup, Steps take pics 1st, go to car wash with vacuum pay $2.00 suck out the nastiness, go into your hatch / trunk have for you cleanup kit wet wipe and fabreeze and boom back on the road and you never touched it.
I will go back to later hours once it gets into late spring. whenever we have to roll back the clock, I end up waking up earlier because it doesn't feel like a drag.
I've Always Been A 3rd Grave Yard Shift Worker. Especially With Ride Share Driving. It Is So Much Easier To Navigate Around Without So Much Traffic. Even When Daytime Surge Pay For Demand Is High Most Of That Will Pretty Much Go Right Back Into Your Gas Tank So Technically The Pay Amount Evens Out It's All About What Shift Will Fit Best Within Your Schedule. Yet Although I Wouldn't Recommend Late Night Driving To The Females Unless It's Very Necessary. But If So I Would Recommend To Travel With Mase, Electric Shockers ETC. Or Even Better. I Would Suggest The Food Delivery Platforms When You Can Travel With Someone Who You Know And Trust. One Can Drive While The Other Picks Up And Drops Off The Deliveries. Take Turns With It If You Can. Make It Like A Team Effort Thing To Keep The Car Running At All Times And Someone Other Than You Is Near A Phone And Watching Your Back. Remember SAFETY FIRST ALWAYS
my nephem drove lyft years ag did 9 pm untill 4 am mde a whopping insane $450 im joimg uber right now rentals but found out to get non owner insyrance because hertz avis enterprize will gouge you for like 1000$ a month and it's far better to drive late nights cause you do not want to get caught in high trffic rush hours and itting through 2 relights
I agree about driving late night. I’ve driven since 2018 and I used to drive 9pm until 3-4 am here in Phx, Az. I got tired of playing Russian roulette with Will they barf or won’t they?? You do make more money driving the graveyard shift though but it isn’t for everyone. I may go back to it towards the holiday season because you definitely make more money during that time of year combined with late night/early morning driving
I've had 3 people get sick in my car... ALL were before 8pm one was before 3 in the afternoon. Then again I drive in Nashville where everyone has lost their mind. No thanks to late night driving... been there done that. Also in Nashville there is still a lot of traffic late night and no one will tip as drinking is very expensive here and they are broke by that time lol
I had a couple from a nice restaurant. Still they had been drinking. The more I talked, the more 20s were tossed over the seat. Just kept tossing 20s. I Bartended for many years.
Late night is the time to make the bucks. I have the barf bags in my car and used them once. They are handy when you need them. Doesn’t hurt to pull over to let them puke outside too.
I only do deliveries from 11am to 3am, and only airport trips from 4am to 9am. I loss money but my piece of mind is better. If you drive night ling enough, the issues will arise. I Stoppd picking people up late unles its an airport trip
If you continue to pick up between 1200am-400am you will be attacked. Passenger will be drunk and scream your going wrong direction because he’s drunk nothing worth getting hurt.
I dropped off a passenger at a club last week and had a pick up at the same location. I saw a guy on the ground passed out and 2 cops picking him up. I was in front of a cop car so i moved out the way a bit. One of cops banged on my car to stop, open the back door and threw him in. Wtf. What's going i said. Another guy said can you take him to xyx. I'm thinking if it took 2 cops to get him in how I'm i going to get him out by myself. The guy had black stuff coming out his nose and was in bad shape. I got to location, down town Atlanta and told a cop i need help. The cops at a club put him in my car. The cop called an ambulance. 30 minutes later they show up. The cop told me to take his number incase i need to make a statement. The next day he called and said the guy overdosed and is still unconscious. If he doesn't make it i need to come in and make a statement. He hasn't called back yet.
Unbelievable that the cops would foist the responsibility of this guy's well-being on you as a driver! They should have called an ambulance to begin with. Black stuff coming out of his nose? WTH was that? That doesn't sound right at all and you'd think that would be obvious. You don't stuff a person who is in that shape into a car. Especially when the guy is unconscious!!! That is negligence at the very least and possibly manslaughter. And what about the trauma you endured being thrust into that situation?
Hi Jay, question to you: are you doing rideshare as an llc? If yes, did you start off with it or you started without it and just set it up some time later?
I don’t mind late night driving. Just hate constantly getting rides from the ghetto high crime gang activities. You denied enough rides your acceptance rate drops slows you down
The thing is I’ve this mindset the early birds get the worms so I’m usually up in early making my money and by the time is late at nigh I’ve already met my goal or completed my challenge and quest and bonuses that I become too tired and unmotivated to stay the night. But I did it once and got close to making 1.2k just working weekends so I know you can make money

Been doing 9pm to 3am lately
Pros: No traffic, music sounds better at night, customers are sleepy so they generally don’t try to talk to you.
So they over-tip again through the app!
nonsense bs

If it wasn't for safety I would do more late-night. I love the fact that late-night riders are more laid back. Late-night riders are more talkative and don't mind the music you play. Daytime riders are more uptight except for a few here and there.
I wouldn't drive late night if they paid me $200.00 a ride. My life is worth more than that.
Absolutely my strategy lol!
Sounds like you just jinxed yourself lol 🤢
same here i usually stop driving at midnight or at least drive far away from downtown lol
I've ONLY driven late nights in Los Angeles since 2018! Starting at 9pm works the best for me. I love the night vibe 😁🙏
Yes that's a good time in Connecticut too.
Been doing overnights for 3 months..A lot of true things here. But most of the time if they don't tip in cash they will not tip in the app because they are too wasted too remember. The vomit bags saved me 3 times already. I would not advocate running any red lights though 😂.
I agree, never go through red lights. surprised to hear him advocate that.
I believe he meant he uses it like a stop sign .
I've done that because the light don't change.
They do that on 3rd Street all the time and even the cops here stop and then go I know cuz I'm sitting there watching😊
Alot of places will change their lights to flashing red at night. So you just stop & go!
1 in 10000 trips u get that, jus pure luck
I'm a night driver and really enjoy it. I keep the barf bags in each door and in the pocket in the seats. I have learned to not be afraid to say something as soon as somebody drunk gets in my car. I just tell them where the bags are and there's no judgment. Just use them if you need them.
#8 safety. There's a reason 3rd shift on weekends pays more. I believe you're telling the truth. I'm just not willing to risk my life to find out for sure.
Yep, it pays more because you take more risk - risk adjusted, it is actually less.
I agree
As per music, depends on the rider
I haven't seen any bonuses tho
Just able to drive more efficiently
My day trips tend to tip higher however
This is something I learned from the get-go.
$200 in promotions??? WoW!! I haven't seen that much in over a year.
I havnt gotten a M-Th bonus in months.
My Fri-Sun bonus is less than $1 per ride
How do you apply the surcharge for puking. just curious...
Great video! I drive for Uber and Lyft but primarily Uber and driving late nights are better to me as well.
I improved my pay by one hundred percent. By not driving for Uber, lol😂
That's the direction I'm heading
Lol god damn right
u missing out on the awesome slave labor
The best answers are usually the most simple and obvious 😂
I have been doing it for 5-ys love it keeps me young! Dallas Tx.
I’m a New driver in Orlando. Trying to maximize my earnings. Maybe i will try this one of the weekend here. Wish me luck Jay!
Dudes suck. Be careful out there.
It’s extremely risky. Keep in mind that you can get 4 belligerent drunks in your car. All it takes for them to become violent is one of them requests you drive “a little” to a different location…
Also, keep in mind that it often takes 20 minutes for Police to arrive - you need to fight 4 violent thugs for 20 minutes to survive, not end up unconscious on a respirator in an ICU, and even if you survive, with long-term disabilities…
In short, risk adjusted, it’s not worth it.
Thanks again, Steve V
PS -- You expressed curiosity about how much income you may have missed out on by not driving Saturday nights.
7 years for me. I have never driven past 10pm weekdays and never past 6pm weekends.
That's how I avoid drunks in my personal car.
Drunk people won't talk either. I had 1puker in 5yrs. Of driving but now I use Para to block all bars and just pick up late night workers
What is Para??
😍 I’ve been running late night red lights for years.
I think drivers have to know their area before pulling “over-nighters!”
Sometime it can be outright dangerous at the extreme and costly at the best. I’ve driven here for 5 years. I know the area!
If you’re in the Bay Area, drivers are MUCH more tame and traffic IS much more light . . . Go for it! California drivers make way more than we do anyway, so your theory is kinda messy with the inequality.
I have done various shifts and love the late nights . Saturday night is the best . The pay is better , no traffic .
Night time driving will take it's toll on your health. There is no way of keeping this up for a few days. It will wreck your entire week and only get worse.
So will real work
@@mrhumboldthippy I’m not sure why people see gig work as fake.
Drive in Oakland and Richmond and see if you have the same assessment 🤪
only once so far did someone vomit in my car. the cleanup wasn't so bad because it was mostly on the outside of door. I received a big tip for how I handled the ride (long pickup) and toward cleaning, which I did myself.
A tell-tale sign someone is about to throw up is you're driving them and one of them suddenly rolls down their window for fresh air.
Plus Walgreens sells barf bags.
Truth!
I drove a NYC Taxi in the '70's from 12 midnight till 10 am for years. In a big city, that's the way to go!
Really awesome tips thank u
I agree w most
Have been lucky doing xl most clients r pretty nice n responsible
Pick high end areas and high end hotels and bars people r not Aholes
Puke is Liquid Gold $$$ easy $150 with a 10 min cleanup, Steps take pics 1st, go to car wash with vacuum pay $2.00 suck out the nastiness, go into your hatch / trunk have for you cleanup kit wet wipe and fabreeze and boom back on the road and you never touched it.
I will go back to later hours once it gets into late spring. whenever we have to roll back the clock, I end up waking up earlier because it doesn't feel like a drag.
I doubt their aim will be good to make it on that bag when they are drunk.
Hey I just started for Uber and Lyft. Can we talk about waiting for airport rides? It seems a waste of time waiting in queue. What do you think?
I agree about driving late night. I’ve driven since 2018 and I used to drive 9pm until 3-4 am here in Phx, Az. I got tired of playing Russian roulette with Will they barf or won’t they?? You do make more money driving the graveyard shift though but it isn’t for everyone. I may go back to it towards the holiday season because you definitely make more money during that time of year combined with late night/early morning driving
I've had 3 people get sick in my car... ALL were before 8pm one was before 3 in the afternoon. Then again I drive in Nashville where everyone has lost their mind. No thanks to late night
driving... been there done that.
Sometimes all money ain't good money. How much more of a risk is late night driving?
I've been driving for over 2 years now for Lyft and Uber.
Fast forwarded is a good thing. I’m past the late night driving. Not safe out here in dc area
Late night is the time to make the bucks. I have the barf bags in my car and used them once. They are handy when you need them. Doesn’t hurt to pull over to let them puke outside too.
Tips from drunk people? That's why I stopped driving late nights. Drunk people will promise you a great tip. But they forget when they're sober.
Why is there no way to find customer service when Uber overcharged us for an amount that has already been agreed, I think it is not pair
Too crazy for me. Been there done that.
You couldn’t pay me all the money in the world to drive at night. Hell no!
Please do not block the curbs at DFW Airport some of us are trying to get in and out with our riders? thank you!
I only do deliveries from 11am to 3am, and only airport trips from 4am to 9am. I loss money but my piece of mind is better. If you drive night ling enough, the issues will arise. I Stoppd picking people up late unles its an airport trip
Glad you've found a strategy that works for you.
Uber no longer reimbereses for such cleaning. So i dont drive. 4 am when people go to work
Thanks for that video, it's help me. for sure I'll do some late night riders. thank you for encouraging me.
This is different now. Lyft and Uber started paying less during the more dangerous night hours.
If you continue to pick up between 1200am-400am you will be attacked. Passenger will be drunk and scream your going wrong direction because he’s drunk nothing worth getting hurt.
All I do is drive nights my car is brand new except for the back seat it's been puked in five times now in a couple near misses
Thank you for turning everybody on to the decent shift and now they're all gonna do it and it'll be a crap shift
Did you need two separate phone
For Lyft and Uber
Or how I do 2 at same time
Please advise thanks
Dave
Barf bags won't help you if they are way too drunk unless they have a less drunk partner with them
My biggest issue driving at night is my headlights, i have upgraded them and i still cant really see all that well. 😢
Thank you. I'm just starting out with Uber and about to start. As a female it kinda scares me.
This is clutch! Excited to try some night time drives.
Hi Jay, question to you: are you doing rideshare as an llc? If yes, did you start off with it or you started without it and just set it up some time later?
What strategy is at the strategy to start making videos on RUclips instead of driving...
The big "U" is using taxi drivers in New York. Who heard?
Hi,
Driving late at night,
Yes,
You take the risk,
50% chance to lose either your life or your car
NOPE!!!!!
He doesn’t realize that risk adjusted, he makes less.
20% pay increase for 50% higher risk is a pay cut
I don’t mind late night driving. Just hate constantly getting rides from the ghetto high crime gang activities. You denied enough rides your acceptance rate drops slows you down
And if you don’t pick them up because you don’t feel safe, they report you to Uber or Lyft as a racist.
So if that's the reason then you're up in Tahoe every weekend where it's a $145 a mile
As a woman driver i wish I could drive at night but I just don't feel safe that late alone. Sucks cuz day driving pays 💩
Back in my taxi days I found that nights paid 2-3x as days. It was dramatic.
Wow! How fast do you drive late night!! I don’t think everyone out late are drunk.
did you get a pay out when you hit 10,000 rides for lyft or are they lying?
What areas of town are better to focus on?
What kind of people are you seeing getting rides at 3am?
The drunk passengers rarely tip, just a few of them send tip the next day
Jay, what market are you in?
