That’s just a stupid statement. And I’m not even an England fan. But harry Kane is the best no. 9 in the world and Jude Bellingham may very well be the best player in the world currently. If Phil Foden is your 3rd best player, you have some talent at your disposal. You wouldn’t know any of that from the 2 matches they’ve played, but that’s not the players fault. Nothing like subbing on three runners, mere minutes after taking Alexander-Arnold off (England’s best long ball specialist) to show you where the real problem lies. England doesn’t have the most talented squad at the euros (top 3 probably) and they should have never been considered favorites. I think the probelm is that England aren't and have never been as good as they think they are. There are always stronger teams than them at every tournament, yet for some reason go in thinking the trophy is in the bag before a ball is even kicked.
Well as someone who lives in England, my whole life everyone has been pessimistic about our international team's chances. This idea that "we think we're so good" comes from nowhere. Just annoyed at England fans public appearances doing exactly the same thing every other team's fans do. Saying they're going to win? People just single out England for it, not sure why. Probably annoyed at our cultural relevance compared to other European countries.
@@lokischeissmessiah5749 As someone who's been living in England for the past 10 years I will say that, from my point of view, I've always perceived my English friends as too optimistic about winning the Euro/World Cup even before the tournament had started. I supposed it's not your case, but from my friends, it's always been like that and it always left me a bit perplexed. I have never seen that overly optimistic attitude from fans in my home country, Spain, not even when we were the current European (and later World) champions.
They need to be able to beat big teams when it matters most. England have done well in recent tournaments because they played teams that were not that good or not as good as they use to be like Germany in the last Euro or teams at the level of Colombia or Senegal. I do think England will do well this Euro hopping they win cause I'm English and I've never seen England win a single tournament in my lifetime. I also do believe that luck wasn't on our side in crucial moments like the last Euro or World cup. They need to be able to beat the big teams without going to penalties or even Extra time for that matter. Look at Argentina for example they scrapped by and suffered to win a world cup even with Messi and all they’re talented players. However in crucial moments Messi stepped up , Martinez rose to the occasion or the other players raised they’re game.
Well, it is a mixture of many things. Spanish football was in a similar position a few decades ago; when LaLiga was the "Star's League". We were the best league, but the national team always failed. Spanish players were not used to be the main protagonist of the teams; formation was not the keystone of every team; we were the richest ones; so, it was unnecessary to seize and develop a really strong tactician and player formation system. We did not export players on that time; so, our players were less competitive and able to adapt to different kinds of styles. In addition, Spanish football started a formative revolution during the 90s (not just in La Masia). On national team and club level. Less physicality and more understanding of the game and technical training. This kind of making things started on England just a decade ago. When the economic crisis arrived to LaLiga, we were forced to seize our football schools, export players and harvest the previous job done by national football federation. It took decades. That's similar in countries like France or Portugal, where there's a huge national football formation network (very young taleted players like Mbappe or Tchouameni were selected to be trained on national team academy when they were youngsters searching for a team). English football was very coarse and isolated of the ultimate football revolutions until premier league (mainly the Sacchi and Cruyff innovations), further more after the europe's ban from competitions in 1985, and started to be important and modernized on the late 2000s. You began to implement football formation like in Spain or France even lately. Now you have started to produce modern players instead of English players; but there's a lack of modern national coaches with its own ideas. It will take time cause you need coaches that experienced and developed modern football mentality instead of the old English one. At the end, modern English football is still in its infancy; like I said, just a few years ago Premier League wasn't even as professional as other leagues; first Spanish players that arrived to PR talked about the lack of structure and method inside clubs during 2000s. I even remember Malouda talking about the lack of the minimum tactical knowledge of English players when he arrived to Chelsea. Players like Phoden, Bellingham, Grealish or Saka are starting to show how can be national english football in a few years. You are doing well, but takes time!
Southgate has taken England to a level higher than anyone since 66, he has nullified the pressure on his players better than anyone and he has built a unified squad who want to play for each other. The trouble is that he is a defender with a risk averse mentality and hardly the best tactician in the world and under him this is the best the team can be. I would love to see him stay but step down to coach the things he excels at. Alongside him I would love to see Pep Guardiolla or someone of his stature and nouse taking charge of England. Then we would win something.
Yeah agreed he has done well but can’t quite get them over the line when it matters most - in finals. Seen calls for Klopp to take it on. That would be something 🔥
07:44 - the hype - this is so true it's unreal. Every tournament they're hailed as the champions, and it's hilarious. I remember when that tosspot Beckham got injured before the 2002 World Cup, and the first headline in the news was 'Can England win without Beckham?' my dad just started laughing, and said 'They can't win with three Beckhams!'

Italy were actually cursed in the tournament from when it became a real tournament with a good amount of teams to when they won it in 2021 which was by them having to be statistically the best team (despite a much harder route than runners-up England). But 1996 to 2016 Italy were the best team to not win any of those 6 tournaments. 2 finals, 1 of which they were about 20 seconds away from beating the WorldChampions (France) and it should've been 2-0 before France scored the very late equaliser but also Italy's goalkeeper Toldo had a great tournament but got his nose studded in that final. Italy had won their first 4 games and got the better of both hosts and knocked out the favourites&co-hosts Netherlands without conceding to them when Netherlands had scored 13 goals in the 4 games before playing Italy. 2 uniquely unlucky group stage exits which has basically no chance of happening in today's format. 1996 (a group with the 2 eventual finalists Germany & CzechRepublic, the latter Italy had a better record than but UEFA's rules allow a team who beat you however lucky it was to finish above you if you're on the same points regardless of the goal difference, CzechRepublic had worse GD in my book & Fifa's book that means they had a worse record it's as bad as having a point less UEFA disagree and because Czech beat 10 man Italy 2-1 they progressed just for that reason but had 2 worse results out of 3 than Italy. Plus Italy were the better team vs Germany and also missed a penalty which would've made them finish top of the group let alone qualify) & 2004 it's extremely rare to be eliminated from a group where you get a win and 2 draws with zero defeats. The 2 eventual finalists that year would've massively struggled a lot vs Italy had either of them had to face them. 2 shootout exits 2008 (vs Spain who dominated World football 2008 to 2012 the latter was Italy's other Euro's final defeat) & 2016 (vs Germany the reigning WorldChampions) Italy were better than the eventual winners of that competition (Portugal) it's just Italy kept having to play the best teams every round while Portugal avoided everyone (Italy, Spain, Belgium & Germany) and were still unconvincing.
the reason England don't win shit is because of the fa. they are men running the team who have never played the game. they need a coach with passion, balls, leadership, good knowledge of the game and who is well respected. the only reason why we have the best players in the world is because the clubs want to win by any means so they get the best coaches. but what does that stand for when you have a man who was a shit player, soft character and really has no idea about how to win as the manager. come on man. It's funny how on the back pages they are saying England are shit they put saka on the cover when he has had the most man of the matches for England. mark my words England won't make it out of the group and again as an English man I wouldnt give a shit.
The EPL no longer attracts the best players in the world.....that's the point! If it did, then Vinicius Jnr, Bellingham, Mbappe, etc would all be playing for English clubs - not elsewhere. You could argue that we no longer attract the best managers either - look at United, Chelsea, Newcastle. It's delusional to think that we do - either in terms of players or managers. The days when we went toe to toe with La Liga clubs are over. I think in a few years time the EPL will be overtaken by Series A. The Italian league is slowly on the way back. Give it another five years and by 2030 we'll be losing players to Serie A - just like we did in the 90's. Everything goes in cycles. The EPL is now on a gradual decline, and Serie A, on a gradual rise.
I agree with most of what you said, but I disagree with your "really has no idea about how to win as the manager" comment. The one thing that Southgate knows is how to win, at all costs - it doesn't matter how you play, if you go behind, as long as you win the game then that's all that matters. It is also one of his big criticisms because people aren't accepting that he's willing to win (whatever the cost/playstyle entertainment) at the risk of playing unappealing football
An English manager has never won the Champions League, the Europa League, the Premier League or the Euros, or the Club World Cup or the Nations League or . . . . . . . . . . . there’s your problem
Here, and everything this guy said about England's failure to win the Euro is 1000% accurate, lack of unity and discipline is one of the vital aspects of building a team and winning trophies, 1966 was their only year when they actually played like a complete team and even then refs ruined it kinda, what Southgate needs is to develop his coaching philosophy, that's how one grows, what he has looks good on paper but never actually implemented it when you really think about it. Managers like Pep, Xabi Alonso and other managers/coaches who aren't English know that you have to adapt your style of play otherwise you won't win any trophies, club or international, especially given that football is changing rapidly, another example is Turkey in 2021(2020 Euro) the coach had a good tactic that he could've used to win the whole tournament and can beat anyone with hell even go on a long winning streak like Colombia but the problem is that the coach simply didn't put that philosophy into action and which resulted in them losing all their games in the group stage. Bottom line, you have to be willing to unite and let your coaching marinate so it can actually produce trophies otherwise overhyped players is all your gonna get.
A loser mentality. Grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Shake the absolute shite out of the opposition by letting the attacking talent play with freedom. Lift that trophy. But, no! We've got Southgate. 😢
It's like you are Nostradamus. Predictably, every time we took the lead or miraculously equalise, we sit back and defend and try and see the game out to extra time & pens. Someone, luck allowed us to get to the final
Letting yourself go a goal down against a team as good as Spain is a recipe for disaster. They managed to scrape through a couple of games prior to that but they were lucky. Perhaps because they had done it before they thought it would be the same. Complacency is their biggest problem
saying that the Premier League has never been conquered by an English coach in its history, then talking about 1966 is a bit misleading, considering the Premier League era only started in 1992. An English manager won the top division the year before with Leeds, nevermind legendary English managers like Brian Clough or Bob Paisley.
@@YourFootballZone I mean it’s technically true but it implies a lot more that “they’ve never won the premier league in history” then “never won the top division since 1992”, especially when 1966 is brought up the next second. The premier league is just the same top flight of English football, the difference being that it was broadcasted on television, so I don’t understand the obsession people have with saying stuff based on it being since the “premier league”.
Exactly, it skips from 1966 straight to 1992. To be fair the England teams of the 70s & 80s were dreadful beyond belief, I remember Euro 80 being particularly bad. People often forget the English teams were dominating European football from the mid 70s to mid 80s. However the national team were utter shite during that period. The 82-85 period England was god awful.
From what I know the spanish national team often suffered from the rivalry between Barcelona and Madrid. It was different between 2008 and 2012. They put their rivalry aside and won everything in that period.
@@Harry-tb8yo It's not just rivalry... Madrid & Barcelona are bigger than the National team.. They put Spanish football on the map & the National team has always played 2nd fiddle or worse... Still today it's not as important as it is compared to National teams from other Countries like Brasil, Argentina, Italy, Germany & even England whose National teams put them on the map
It’s largely because in England they believe that being English automatically means they are somehow ahead of everyone else at the start gun. Everyone else is against them or they are unlucky. It’s actually because other nations teach the kids to play in technique from a young age not just kick and show physical prowess or passion. Same in business too.
Is there really such a thing as a curse? Maybe it's just that England haven't been good enough. They are no good at penalty shootouts and they don't try hard enough and they don't play to win.
If we look at the 8 countries that have won the world cup, 7 have won 4 or more international tournaments. England won the world cup, in England. They didn't have to qualify, they played every game at Wembley. This is not a track record of a power house football nation. Expect something similar, and you won't be disappointed.
Not sure if it was HiTC Sevens whom studied Englands’ progress through the 1966 event but the interpretation demonstrated how the team were more often than not on the good end of refereeing decisions along with the overall politics of the tournament weighing in their favour. I’ve never heard an alternative narrative or critical take on 1966 but it was a real eye opener. 👍
among the problems, assumptions like the premier is the best league... where Spaniards are the managers leading the board year in year out. and considering that because it's the best league in self promoting and making money, means it's the best league in the field...
Let's start with the richest league in Europe "The Premier League" it maybe the richest and most popular league in the world but I reckon it's overrated and underwhelming compared to La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy) or the Bundesliga (Germany). The problems begin with the so called "Tall Poppy Syndrome" within the national team and yes the egos do clash at times and the rivalries between the big clubs are very intense and at times "very toxic" between the fans, the media & of course the players. I also feel that the way England won the World Cup in 1966 was off the back of their style of play using tactics like "Physicality & Brute Force" by targeting the top players like Pele & Eusebio with hard fouls and physical exertion. Speaking of England's style of play, one: It's outdated, two: It's boring and predictable, three: it lacks creativity and flair, and four: it lacks cohesion and chemistry. What I've noticed about England is also it's lack of identity within it's own country and the way the national team is viewed by the media and the fans particularly by the media who I reckon have a so called "Bipolar Disorder" where they hype up and endorse the team so much one day and then brutaly chastise the team the next day instead of sympathising and encouraging the team through tough periods. Over the years they're playing styles have improved but a lack of patience and faith by the FA, the fans & the media of constant failures does also affect the mental state of the players on the park so players go into a pattern of thinking and a "Fear of failure" mentality which is a dangerous way of thinking instead of instilling belief of "We can win this" mentality which causes players to play a "safe & low risk" type football instead of "High risk & high reward" mentality where it just being predictable, ultra defensive, and relying on opposition to make mistakes instead of taking the opposition head on, in trying to crack the opposition defences.
A big reason I think is because of the pressure from the fans. You all should just be like Scotland or Ireland. Just go to the tournament, have fun, have no expectations, and if something happens act surprised. It might work.

@@YourFootballZone Of course there have been opportunities to win it, but that’s where the luck part comes in. Spain won 75% of their trophies in a 4 year spell. Thank you, very interesting. I was too young alas to remember the 1966 world cup. But as an 8 yr old fanatic, I remember all too clearly the horror of the 1970 qtr final defeat to W Germany, after being 2-0 up on 70 minutes. It remains the single most painful for me all these years later, and perhaps was the baseline for the next 50 years. On your point about club rivalries impeding the national effort: the FA realised there was some sort of underlying malaise by the mid to late 70s. In this period, Liverpool - then populated mainly by English players, Emlyn Hughes et al - were dominant at home and in Europe. We experimented for a shorth while by cramming the national team with Liverpool players, But this was soon abandoned.
Hello, my friend, seems we are roughly of the same age. Sorry, a German speaking here. The Wembley final in 1966 was the very first most important football match I ever watched at the age of 8. It was quite exciting, abeit I barely understood what it was all about and what it really meant. After the match we, the boys of the block re-played the game between some garages with a tennisball, haha. And, yes, the 3:2 in the heat of Mexico has always been a highlight for us, but even more important was the 3:4 defeat against Italy in the semi-finals. I think the first German victory a t a l l against England was a 1:0 in 1968 in a friendly in Hannover. Until then Eng vs. Ger normally ended 8:3, 5:1 or 6:2 if not even worse ( from the Ger perspective). From the Mexico WC on you could have called me a football fanatic too. After the Italy-Brazil final I calmed down significantly, we wouldnt stand a chance against Brazil, no doubt about it. Anyway, after all those years and decades the question remains why England actually didnt win a single trophy that counts. You can find many answers here or in discussions of the leading football pundits. I have to admit, I dont know. Three years ago I thought, well, they‘ve beaten us in Wembley which will set free enough energy to finally win the EC cup. I didnt doubt that for a second. But you know, we suffered a lot from the Italiens and they were always at their best when all odds were seemingly against them. So, terribly enough for England the unexpected actually happened. In my opinion, and that may surprise you, the German team will not go to the semi-finals this year. German football is seriously damaged since 2018 and at best recovery has only begun recently. England? In all honesty, I would like to see the EC, or even better, the WC trophy in the hands of your captain, believe it or not. But in my sixties now I think Football‘s just a game and life will go on, with or without the trophy in our hands.

No…England don’t have winning mentality at national level..expect the usual nations like France, Italy and Germany to grow into the tournament..Spain may do well also…
I think the difference is the British are quite a sociable as we love or pubs and social clubs compared to other nations. I love how the Germans see taking a penalty as a great honour where with the English we’re petrified that we’ll end up in a Pizza Hut commercial. Plus we have very good players but also our education system crushes any trace of individuality out of people that’s why we end with bland leaders like Sunak , Starmer and Southgate. Come on England! 🏴
Well, in 1966 Christmas came early. This year's championship was offered to England. They were heavily helped to defeat Portugal and reach the final. From the change of field to another city not respecting the initial draw, damaging Portugal to a goal from Eusébio that the referee didn't want to see.
Expensive primadonnas do not a great national team make. For that you would need a healthy national pride and love for your country. Now, go back and look what has changed in the English national teams since 1966.
Because they believe they have a divine right to win. Put all your money and resources into getting better tactics and you win. It’s a choice. Rather than turn up believing we are so much better than everyone else. Look at Athletics or rowing or cycling. They succeed on a fraction of what football has in england

A lack of decent Brithish management is the main issue. Years ago, England had a great selection of English managers to pick from the only problem was they would always pick the safe hands instead of the most talented and astute mangers. Imagine picking Ron Greenwood over Brain Clough and Roy Hodgson over Harry Redknapp or anyone at all, really. So again, England has a talentless manger with all the charisma of a dead tortoise leading some of the most talented players in the world to inevitable and totally embarrassing defeat. When will the F.A of Englad get tired of this shameful and tedious mediocrity. Maybe when they do, they will get a seriously talented manager for England. Jugen Klopp needs a hobby 🤔
The English FA could go after any manager in the world, regardless of nationality, pretty much since the beginning of its existence. Your answer makes no sense.
Ron Greenwood over Clough was the correct choice as Ron was far and away Britain's best coach and better adapted to international football than Clough would have been. The job of a club manager is basically motivation which is why Clough was so good. The club manager has to motivate a small group of players at regular, short intervals, even when they do not feel like playing. The international manager must have an idea of the kind of team which will, with very little practice, blend into a team ten times a year. His most vital function is not motivation but selection. The club manager is pragmatic; the international manager should be concerned with the broader development. That was not Clough's forte and the pressure of the job would have made his alcoholism worse. What made Ron Greenwood great was that he coached West Ham to play real football not English ‘fight-ball’. This was emphasised when West Ham beat Swiss team Lausanne en route to winning the European Cup Winners Cup in 1965. Afterwards their manager Karl Rappan said, ‘West Ham cheated they didn’t play English football.’ Another fact that is not often appreciated by English critics is that other managers are successful because they have a lot of really talented players at their disposal, and a manager cannot do a good job without the necessary resources in terms of human material. So, Southgate has performed a minor miracle.
Statistically England are on a par with Portugal but stylistically have more in common with Belguim. People shouldn’t expect any more from them than the Belgians do from their team. The idea that England is some sort of elite footballing nation is nonsense and only has its roots in the fact that the game originated in these islands, but it was the Scottish who really adapted and refined it. The World Cup victory in 1966 was due to home advantage, a handful of their best players ever, three of whom - Peters, Moore & Hurst were developed by England’s best ever coach - Ron Greenwood, whose West Ham side didn’t play traditional English football. The success at club level in the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s was greatly assisted by Scots, Welsh and Irish players. England have never produced players skilful enough (with a handful of exceptions) for the very highest international standards due to the league’s physical, results-oriented football (which is what the fans really want) and because we have still not accepted the fact that coaching is a vital part of the game. Another fact that is not often appreciated by English critics is that other managers are successful because they have a lot of really talented players at their disposal, and a manager cannot do a good job without the necessary resources in terms of human material.
@Ruda-n4h Clough was able to win and retain the European cup even with his alcoholism which by the way, was not that uncommon at the time. Alcoholism was not treated as a health issue but a matter of personal weakness, which was a familys own affair to deal with. So, in the end, that made even a discussion of the subject a social minefield. Also, saying that England hasn't had enough world-class players is a weak argument when we consider that both Greece and Denmark have been able to win the Euros. Had they got better players than England, I don't think so. The problem with the 1966 World Cup win was that after 1966, England's F.A. and England mangers believed they couldn't learn anything from another nations' playing style or training methods. English teams have been able to win and even dominate Europe because they actually learnt from playing in Europe and used what they had learned to get better, but the English F.A. and their loyal servants like Ron, Roy, and Gareth aren't interested in learning or changing. It's an attitude that's beyond understanding.
England were hosts in 66’ it was as much a fluke as Greece winning the Euros when they hosted. England are not one of those elite footballing nations. They have the strongest league filled with players and managers from all over the world, and it is by far the wealthiest league, but this is no divine right to trophies. England are perennial underachievers who feel as if they are in the same conversation as Brazil Argentina Germany Italy France and Spain. England are on par with the Netherlands as far as tournament legacy. If a sense of entitlement and a false sense of superiority won trophies Englands cabinet would be full.
@@EliasRoy I think he means that England winning in 1966 was as much of a fluke as Greece winning in 2004. While I don't necessarily agree, I do think that England are clearly a level below the absolute top nations historically
@@AW-zk5qb That is a fair assessment. Statistically England are on a par with Portugal but stylistically and have more in common with Belguim. People shouldn’t expect any more from them than the Belgians do from their team. Until people accept it, they will be condemned to eternal disappointment and failure. It’s only when you accept that fact, however unpleasant, that you can then begin to make some progress. It’s like being an addict, you have to accept that you are something that you don’t like the idea of.
There are a few reasons why England underachieve that i think are not looked at here. 1. Training/ coaching. England players are coached to play a role for their clubs. They are generally one-footed, not technical enough and unable to play even slightly different roles, causing incompatibility with other similar players in the team. The dirth of players who could use their left foot unbalanced the team. For professional players this is embarrassing. 2. Not enough English managers leaving innovation absent from England academies and a lack of respect to England managers from players who have typically achieved a lot more than the manager. No English manager has ever won the EPL. Only 2 English managers have ever beaten a Guardiola side. Depending on your definition there are only 4-6 English managers in top Leagues in Europe. Almost more Danish or Austrian managers which on a per capita basis is ridiculous. 3. This is more nuanced, but since WW1 there has been a split in English schools when it comes to sport. Posh, or at least aspirational schools, played Rugby and Cricket. Other schools played football. I think this has lead to a lack of 'academic rigour' around the thinking/ creative positions in the formative years for English players who can be coached into behaviours but might not know the why, or the theory around positional play. We always seem to have physically gifted players but not the creatives and seem distrustful of them. The answers to 1 is academy programme implementation guidelines from FA. St George's park will help train flexible England style and develop genuine 2 footed players. 2. Should be FA support for coaching programmes, bursaries and outreach. Try to keep successful ex-players within the game rather than pundits. 3. Is schools outreach and training/ coaching overhaul. Gradually things will get better, but its a pyramid. With more managers there are more likely to be a successful candidate with more technical players they are more likely to be tactically flexible etc
England has won the euros many times. The English Media tat is. Always arrogantly proclaiming its coming home. Lousy quality players,,,, Slowly wait Maybe 3024 euros will come home

@martinranalli8572 I don't have any expectations of England any more. In my opinion, the winning of a future title is a matter of hard work and not only in terms of football, even more so in working on the mental chip. Spain started becoming successful in foitball after having scrapped the nickname of "La Furia Roja". Defining themselves as furiuos was counterproductive because fury makes you lose control. The English team, public and media need to get rid of their stubbornness and entitlement of wanting to "bring back home "their" football trophies". If they don't get more humble in their approach, they very likely won't win anything if it's not a matter of luck.
2 bad things for England. 1.) If they have to face France they need to play against Mbappé. And he simply would tear their "decent" defense apart together with Griezmann. And a medioker goalie as Pikford isn't able to stop those 2. Remember last world cup Mbappé made a hattrick in the final. He was the first player ever to make a hattrick in a world cup final. 2.) It's to bad for the people of England Haaland choose to play for Norway instead of England. Because he also have the English citizenship. Because he was born in Leeds when his father was playing for Leeds United.
Jordan Pickford has been great for England! no don't play both saka on each wing, Foden is shit on the wing and it is a waste. Southgate has brought team spirit to England, that he learned from Euro 1996, the only thing he does wrong is he waits way too long for subs.

Your problem has a name: arrogance and lack of humility. Every euro, every World Cup you always act as if you were the favorites, the best, and all just because you have the premier league. You forget the foreign players who play in your league, the foreign coaches who bring the soccer philosophies of Latin America and southern Europe like Portugal and Spain to your league. English football is not what it is without the contributions of hundreds of foreign players and coaches. A clear difference must be made between English club football and English football as a nation, they are not the same, in football philosophy and neither in human resources.
But that’s not true. God I wish it was because it’d make losing hurt less. But fact is the team has great players which is what makes the losses so tough
And arrogance… If they actually realized there was much to improve they would get better and maybe win. Keep blaming self-sabotage and bad luck and things won’t ever change.

I have never seen that overly optimistic attitude from fans in my home country, Spain, not even when we were the current European (and later World) champions.
Let's simplify it. Lacking skill, brains and self belief. All you need to be successful.

2 shootout exits 2008 (vs Spain who dominated World football 2008 to 2012 the latter was Italy's other Euro's final defeat) & 2016 (vs Germany the reigning WorldChampions) Italy were better than the eventual winners of that competition (Portugal) it's just Italy kept having to play the best teams every round while Portugal avoided everyone (Italy, Spain, Belgium & Germany) and were still unconvincing.
the reason England don't win shit is because of the fa.
they are men running the team who have never played the game.
they need a coach with passion, balls, leadership, good knowledge of the game and who is well respected.
the only reason why we have the best players in the world is because the clubs want to win by any means so they get the best coaches.

mark my words England won't make it out of the group and again as an English man I wouldnt give a shit.
With you bro. Until the yes man ting is done, so are we.
The federations in Italy or Germany are not exactly run by competent men either.
Made it to the qf but will mostly likely get knocked out by the Swiss hopefully Southgate will get sacked I’d like to see Poch or Potter in the job

Who is here after England lost the finals?
Read my mind
😂😂
England needed a better right-back, Walker was at fault for both goals.
saying that the Premier League has never been conquered by an English coach in its history, then talking about 1966 is a bit misleading, considering the Premier League era only started in 1992. An English manager won the top division the year before with Leeds, nevermind legendary English managers like Brian Clough or Bob Paisley.
Not really misleading when it’s a fact.. the PL hasn’t been won by an English manager 🤷♂️

The press hype some players so much, they believe there world class and there not,,
It’s largely because in England they believe that being English automatically means they are somehow ahead of everyone else at the start gun. Everyone else is against them or they are unlucky. It’s actually because other nations teach the kids to play in technique from a young age not just kick and show physical prowess or passion. Same in business too.

Fair point!
Great stat! Every other WC winner wins in different generations

Who’s here after England lost again in the Euro final. Seems like it’s never coming home
It was never home
@@richarda3514not true. Yall can want to hate us as much as you want but fact is that statement is wrong.

Well obviously.. but a nation like England should have at least won the competition by now
@@YourFootballZone Not necessarily, only one nation can win the tournament. They only come round every two years, I always thought if international tournaments were played in a league format England would have won more. It doesn’t really have anything do with hype or the media, other nations do exactly the same. The Spanish for example had players who hated each other and their media is worse than ours. They still had 4 years of success.
@@businesssecretsofthepharao8901 hmm there’s still been plenty of opportunities to win tournaments. England are consistently ranked amongst the top 5 nations in the world yet are still stuck on 1 WC from 1966. Will see what this year brings anyway
@@YourFootballZone Of course there have been opportunities to win it, but that’s where the luck part comes in. Spain won 75% of their trophies in a 4 year spell. Germany historically have been like Real Madrid in the way they are not the best team at the tournament but find a way to win it, Italy’s trophies are sporadic and usually by being superb defensively. There have been some very very poor England performances over the years, but sometimes your luck just isn’t in.

@SKa-tt9nm
Yeah, that's cos it's not muppet friendly.
Afterwards their manager Karl Rappan said, ‘West Ham cheated they didn’t play English football.’
Another fact that is not often appreciated by English critics is that other managers are successful because they have a lot of really talented players at their disposal, and a manager cannot do a good job without the necessary resources in terms of human material.
@Ruda-n4h
Clough was able to win and retain the European cup even with his alcoholism which by the way, was not that uncommon at the time.
Greece didn’t host Euros in 2004. Portugal did
@@EliasRoy I think he means that England winning in 1966 was as much of a fluke as Greece winning in 2004. While I don't necessarily agree, I do think that England are clearly a level below the absolute top nations historically
And now England will be versing the Netherlands 😢

Mbappe wasnt the 1st
Jordan Pickford has been great for England! no don't play both saka on each wing, Foden is shit on the wing and it is a waste. Southgate has brought team spirit to England, that he learned from Euro 1996, the only thing he does wrong is he waits way too long for subs.

England is too overconfident, which leads them to fumble when going against teams that are far better than them.
I say this as an England fan. We are really cocky.
@@caspy-fnnot at all. The fans you’d have a point. But our team’s issue is the complete opposite. They’re not confident at all and don’t try to take and chances or risks because they’re scared of it backfiring. And it causes our players to practically just stand there as a result
@@MsMorningstar000 Especially Saka. He is a great player, he lines up perfect goals, but doesn't commit and ends up fumbling them. I see what you mean, but overall I think it's a mix of both. We don't challenge ourself, and we also think we're better than we are
Because they're not as good as they think. That's why 😂
So dumb to have a go at Pickford - England's best keeper since G Banks - 100pc Fact .
Read the comments 😅
England have won the Euro in 2022 ... just not the boys ...
huh?
@@YourFootballZone Oh come on, now you're just being mean ... The ladies won the final against Germany.
@@dnimlarebil Had it been the men's England team against women's Germany on that final... Probably Germany would've won 🤣
The reason is average players simple as that
But that’s not true. God I wish it was because it’d make losing hurt less. But fact is the team has great players which is what makes the losses so tough
@@MsMorningstar000 😂😂😂😂😂🙂🙂
It's an elegant combination of self-sabotage and bad luck.
And arrogance… If they actually realized there was much to improve they would get better and maybe win. Keep blaming self-sabotage and bad luck and things won’t ever change.
