    • @brosemkj
      @brosemkj 2 года назад +36

      That depends on what you defines as "rich" and your economic priorities. The base Spot sell for $74,500. That is without the arm. To put that in perspective, that would be the same price as a Tesla model Y (short range all equipment). That is about the middle of Tesla's price range. $49k-$147k. Cars drop in value quite quickly so this robot might actually be a better investment. Though, prioritise buying a house first

      The toolkits that are used to choreograph Spot are pretty refined now. They do not hand code movements. They can motion capture a human dancer and map the geometry onto Spot very efficiently. @@egoequus6263 The robots of Boston Dynamics don't use mocap to capture movement, they actually do code the individual motions. The magic comes from the way the machines are programmed to maintain balance, not from precise motion on a flat and level surface, but from dynamic stability routines that can compensate for slippery, uneven and unstable terrain (hence the "dynamics" in Boston Dynamics). So essentially, they DO program the robots to move, but the dynamic subroutines determine HOW to achieve the movement.

      Painted? You clearly have no idea what you are talking about, but y'a cgi most likely, although they never pretended otherwise... robot model are just simpler to make and rig in general... and artistically they can vary more and do more unique move.

      @@Dafuq777 Yeah but buying cheap and replacing often is still more convenient than paying western prices. That's why Chinese companies are still at the head of so many markets.

      @@AlexanderSama no, you have no clue what's going on, in China the government Subsidizes the export sales, so it's a no brainer for Chinese companies (or non Chinese companies to contract out to Chinese manufacturers) to pay for shipping, materials, slave labor, etc, when the government is basically paying for it.
      How do you think it's really cheaper to produce an item and ship it around the world otherwise?
      (This is the dumbed-down version of how it works, but still accurate.)

    The next step is to make the Robots' arm to mouth the words of the songs they dance to.
    I'm 51 & seeing the progress from the 80s, into the 90s, into the 2000s, into the 2010s, & now into the 2020s just blows my mind - simply because I remember a robot moving from left to right & up & down & they called it dancing, but alas it was simply movement.
    This video Was dancing.
