Every time I go to wedding or any banquet , we almost always get this as our dessert and I love it.
I don't think I have dried tangerine peel in my cupboard but for now I'll use fresh orange peel until I go shopping again.
Thank you for the recipe, Francine,

Yes, this is a traditional dessert that is quite sweet when served at Chinese Banquets. One thing I love about making it at home in my Instant Pot is that is very easy, and you can adjust the sweetness to taste. Fresh orange peel will add a nice citrus flavour. I bought a big bag of tangerine peel at T & T, and that is going to last me for a long time. :) Thanks for watching and commenting Eddie!

If I don’t soak it and start cooking it raw but doing it say 35 to 40mins of pressure cooking - would this achieve the consistency that u have? Appreciate a response, thanks.

Hi Susan, I haven't tried pressure cooking dried beans without soaking. But if you pressure cook them longer, they should be soft enough. I hope it works out for you!

Hello! I did pressure cook it from raw beans, ie, without soaking. I did 35 mins together with the lotus seeds, plus the orange peel.
It did achieve the softness required and I used the soup ladle to mash it up a bit before adding another cup of hot water n cane sugar. It was delicious.

@@susanng7298 that’s great and saves time if you don’t have to pre-soak the beans! Thanks for testing this and letting me know!

Hi Francine, thank you for sharing your recipe. However, your voice is too soft. You have to speak louder. After making a video, don't you check the audio? If you had done this, you would have known to correct the audio. I already have it on 100% volume, still your voice can hardly be heard and I am not deaf.

Sorry about that! This is one of my older videos, and I was very inexperienced at video making at that time. My more recent videos have much better audio. Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it!
