I have been watching this band perform this song for 30 years now and the last couple of years it has become an almost religious experience. It has transcended everything it has ever been before and ascended to a plane of pure sonic joy for me that nothing else has even come close to. I'd say that in its current incarnation, the live version has achieved perfection, but that doesn't do it justice. It's perfect, but it's perfect even for a Pixies song. There is simply nothing to compare to the experience of standing in the middle of a dance floor in a crowded auditorium, eyes closed, gently swaying to the calm-before-the-storm bass groove, knowing that with each controlled-chaos verse, hell is going to break a little more loose. It's like three notes bro.. you want to hear a good baseline go listen to some Duran Duran. This is hilarious. They're on the same level as the smashing pumpkins which is pretty low. There's just so many better bands to listen to from the 90s. It's a bummer blind melon's one album that was called soup has 12 better songs then anyting these guys ever wrote. They kind of remind me of a poor man's social distortion in this song. Also connects chicks stop breathing into the mic?
Also can the chick stop breathing/mumbling into the mic?
@@kane00000 Duran Duran and pixies are complete polar opposites lol you cant compare their music that's dumb
@@joechapman8802 No. what I'm saying is the pixies suck and Duran Duran is God.
@@kane00000 what ya doing commenting on this then you dumb dumb
Absolutely BRILLIANT
David at the end was my fav part of this particular rendition. 🤘🏻
tame at Brixton or hey on that English tv show - probably the best 2 live performances if I had to choose, although gigantic with a giggling kim deal is right up there too - this effort just doesn't compare
Lol it is great.
@@broken1394 this tune is always great - cos its so easy to play - easily structured. but that's the beauty of the pixies. what im saying is - its those magic moments in their prime that have now sadly gone. but that happens with every band their age. every band passes its peak. but we still love them - and im dreading the day they stop touring
Absolutely lovable music full of emotions, great reverbs, great melodies, bass lines, interrupting vocals, extraorinary harmonic tricks, key changes within the song and all the stuff that I just adore and appreciate. There's no other band like YOU! Long live Pixies! You age like a fine wine :)
Love the groove ❤
Pretty awesome and intelligent..don't underestimate the time of the nineties rock the world 🎉
Listened to this a couple months back, I had a dream today where I was playing this intro with my bass. Felt happy like I haven't felt in years. This performance is out of this world.

Saw them play last night in Bexhill too! Great performance.
It certainly was!
Agreed - A cracking gig.
Did they play a lot of songs off their new album?
The balance of that bass, damn...gives me goosebumps!!!
After building the tension for over two minutes that chorus really comes crashing in bringing a wave of relief.
Good comment finally
Exactly. Pixies are all about contrast between bassy calm verses and noisewall choruses
Nah, bro. It brought a wave of mutilation.
Pretty good version of my favourite Pixies song.
i know right
franks voice definitely has gone... but this means some new pixies material will have a more "bluesy" quality to them
just stumbled on this a couple of days ago. Superb !!! The drummer is the star of the show...
Saw them in Cardiff two days ago, went out for a cig quick came back in only to hear the last note of this song. Long story short, I've quit smoking.
Dude, that sucks. I'm seeing them in 2 days at Leeds!
Who the fuck goes to smoke during the show, Ive been smoking for 10 years and have never done that
Malaysian_ Asian were a lot of the songs played off their new album?
@@ojasvipatel1281 setlist.fm is a great site!
Maybe just try and quit being dumb as spit. Leave during Pixies. Maniac.
Masterful performance. Best Pixies song, period.

Literal shivers down my spine! - unreal!
Still some of the greatest music I've heard and it came out in 1988
I'm in love with that bass tone.
Bass is absolutely perfect and hypnotic
The Pixies , brilliant. Saw them in Curitiba Brazil around 2005 when they re-formed. One of my fav all time bands..
Pure, strong, simple. Ageing well. Definitely one of my all-time favorite. Love you Pixies!
They are killing it still huh?
Elbow, there are several of your ditties that move me in an unusual way. All the hairs on my body prickle, like I am cold but it's warmth. The back of my head feels like it's tight, the skin pulled taut. This reaches a point where I have ti smile. Both my face and the back of my head smile. Sometimes I cry with joy. This track, The River, Tower Crane Driver etc. your band chemistry move me beyond self control. Thank you Elbow ❤
The texture/lyrical/musical genius that Charles and Joey created together is lightning in a bottle that won’t be seen again in anyone else for a long time. Can’t forget how much Kim brought to the table either.
Surfer Rosa - Doolittle - Bossanova is a three album run that most bands can only dream of. This performance is simply perfection. And Joey Santiago is one of the most underappreciated guitarists ever.
Ever ?
No
Literally NO
Trompe le Monde is no slouch of an album either....
I was 16 when this song was first released and a
young punk rocker at the time, after 5 or 6 pernods and black currants we would love dancing to this because it's so catchy❤
Paz is so cute and talented! I like her playing and her singing! She compliments and improves this song! I’m so glad they found her! She has reinvigorated and revived this band! And they are making good music! This late in the game that’s a minor miracle! And she can play the violin too! I’m glad they are still touring! One of the last great indie type bands! 🔥💥🎸😎
agree and I think paz is a great fillin. but we cant kid ourselves - she aint kim. but this is far better than nothing
@@pudboy123456 What happened to Kim?

Paz is the bearer and guardian of Pixies spirit!
Are you Joking? i hope so...do you even know this band?
Vraiment envoûtant, excellent

aaahhhhh pinches Pixies! That was a superb performance! See you guys on your 2020 USA tour!
pinches putos pixies alv
CHINGONES!!!...
I watched/listened to this 50 times at least. Love it.
I saw them open for U2 in Pittsburgh around 1992
I love Paz, hey, I LOVE PAZ!! But nothing brings a smile to my face like Kim Deal singing a PIXIES tune...
I have followed a few bands since my childhood and Pixies have been the only band to not let me down. Consistently Pixies while ever evolving
Gouge away, you can gouge away
Stay all day if you want to
Missy aggravation
Some sacred questions, you stroke my locks
Some marijuana if you got some
Gouge away, you can gouge away
Stay all day if you want to
Sleeping on your belly
You break my arms, you spoon my eyes
Been rubbing a bad charm with holy fingers
Gouge away, you can gouge away
Stay all day if you want to
Chained to the pillars
A 3 day party, I break the walls
And kill us all with holy fingers
Gouge away, you can gouge away
Stay all day if you want to
Merci 😎
Thanks 🎉❤
The raw simplicity of the video is fantastic… great song
Paz, Love you so! From Brasil
Diego Silva ??? Then ho’s you’re favorite football player Diego maradonna? 😄😂😂
Tamos juntos 🤘🏼💀🎸🇧🇷
I’ve only came across this song today ... absolutely incredible song I’ve listened to it on repeat over and over
Me too. I've heard of Pixies only "where is my mind" and "Hey" that's it. but this song is at a different level to me. actually sounds something new or from the early 2000's kinda.
@@fireeyes5399 they stuff is insane especially if u go and take the time to listen a looot of gems like this one
@@fireeyes5399 Black Francis is a visionary , he was always writing music that seemed before it's time.
Partly because it influenced so many musicians and bands after them.
Saw them first April '88 in Newcastle in a small club, they blew the whole place apart with their quiet.. build... and sheer propulsive NOISE.... loved them then and still now. thank you for this!
This sound amazing.......the band and Black Francis has still that voice... love it
