  • Ranting about AI, art/writing/ and what's going on with Webtoon. if it isn't obvious, I'm not pro AI. but I want to have an open conversation.
This is regarding the status of AI as of April 2024.
And lol sorry about the camera quality, I used a webcam this time.

I’m appalled by the people who use AI and make money in any creative field.

I think the best future for the use of AI in the arts is that it's just to be used as a tool/assist, not do the whole job for you and be trained on materials that are either public domain or permission has been granted and compensation given. Still going to be something tricky to figure out.

"I've always wanted to make a comic but my art isn't good enough" NOOOO never say that! Every amateur drawing will be better than any ai "drawing" by a long stretch. Why? Because you can feel the passion and creativity that went into it

My webtoon series titled "The Gate". It's an action adventure. Character named: Drey. 😂
    It has 3 episodes already.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but recommending creative partnerships as future proofing over using AI is mental. The chances of a partnership surviving are abysmal, and even though AI comics will probably fail eventually, the odds there are better for the creator. In established comics like DC, they're all getting paid to do their part and nothing more, it's not a partnership, it's a contract.

Thank you so much for the very informative video. I’m very interested to see how AI will develop in the future. I feel when digital art hit the market a lot of traditional artists we’re similarly concerned. Im curious if AI could be used on the artist own works and trained to create new original art for the artist which would streamline the process for webtoon creators, creating a more balanced lifestyle. TBH I learned so much in this video and I’m curious to hear more of your unfiltered opinion on this as it develops.

I consciously held back my opinions for this video 😂😅 because I wanted it to be easy to listen to and digest for new creators who are wanting to use AI. To share our perspective without just being angry. But a lot of us are angry! Overall, I'm worried and disappointed.
But yes I am so curious too to see what's going to happen. It could go in any direction. But I expect that it will be pushed as far as it can go, since we tend to do that with new tech. So I think it'll get scarier for creatives before it gets better.

On a totally unrelated note, was the Christopher Paolini book any good? I read his inheritance cycle when I was in elementary and have recently been looking at his recent publishes but am unsure of weather or not to jump back into his books 🤔

Wish I could give you a recommendation but I didn't read it either! It's hard to know what the true average review is of the book, because so many people gave it a bad review for having an AI cover, and others are giving it 5 stars to balance that out. But check out the reviews on good reads and see what you think!
