This stuff is stolen not lost
I was robbed by plane staff. They are evil and it's absolutely theft.
I wonder how many folks are watching this and are mind 🤯blown cause they just saw their stuff on TV thinking they'd never see it again
Seeing the antique violin crushed my heart! Omg someone lost their baby 😢
I find it very hard to believe the owner didn't move heaven and earth trying to get that item back or that the rightful owner couldn't possibly be found, something stinking to high heaven here and it's not a wayward piece of cheese smuggled into the country on a lost piece of luggage.
That violin looked old but it did not age well. Probably not valuable
This is wrong. The airlines should be ensuring that every stitch gets back to the actual owners.
After passengers are compensated for their lost luggage. they no longer want to reclaim the lost luggage if it were found.
Once a claim is filed and the customer gets their money I guess they don’t want the stuff back! Hence will have to give back that check.
And #CBS has the balls to post this as some happy shopping story 😡profiting off my stuff from their incompetence
@@quesadilla79I totally agree. There are too many sentimental/valuable items for the airline to be so negligent.
Just imagine if that was your bag! Give it back!
How is it even possible to have sooooo much unclaimed luggage? WTF!
It's possible that the owners didn't want to be bothered by their loss. Or those are smuggled goods.
Bro that doesn't make sense@@SingleAndAlmostBrokeinSurrey
THEFT
Well if your luggage was suppose to go to Kansas, and it ends up in London….. Somebody put an air tag in their luggage, and found out that’s what happened.
I smell something very crooked!!! A huge percentage of these luggage pieces have identification in them which I bet is promptly thrown away!!!
back up your 'fact' about the identification
Exactly! This doesn't incentivise these TRASH airports not to constantly lose your luggage, which already happens quite frequently enough. Bad idea. 👎🏿
@@daveydudely9954...What? That's the dumbest thing I've heard. Clearly you don't fly very much- as they don't give a rat's arse about your identification in your luggage or wallet. I know from experience. Even when you call and tell them exactly where you left your items, they STILL often don't bother to send it to you.
If you've ever worked in an airport, especially post pandemic- you'll know that they do absolutely NOTHING to get your items back to you. Will even have you pay to send it to you, and still not actually send it to you. If they even admit to finding it. Lucky you if you've never had this happen, because it literally happens dozens of times a day per airport I've worked in. And those are just the ones that I'm made away of, out of the ones that just so happen to occur while I'm on shift.
I lost my luggage in mexico and got back to me in 2 days. Lost luggage in in Florida and it is gone forever smh
More like stolen luggage
The airports sell the luggage. It’s just like if you don’t pay for storage so they sell the contents. Either way it’s going to either end up in the dump or someone selling it on eBay. You’re given 90 days to retrieve it (aka you know or otherwise are looking for the luggage) and you don’t come get it or make a claim on it.
Is it just me or does somebody else think this would be worth a 10-hour drive to see
Yeah, lets go!
This feels really wrong.
This is not loss, this is theft. Imagine this was a car valet that is somehow able to lose your car after you give it to them, only to then sell it for profit when they later 'find' it......
Exactly!
if you were compensated how is it theft?
Ffs the owners are given 90 days to come get the bags. They are told they have the bags. After 90 days it gets sold to people or put in a landfill. Better to be bought by others than a landfill.
@@OneStubbornLass If only this were true. I've seen news stories where people have tracked their luggage with airtags to an airport and the airlines are still denying they have the bag.
@@imisstoronto3121 If someone wanted to buy something from you but you didn't want to sell it and the person just took it and later sent you some money. It would still be theft.
I remember hearing about a place like this several years ago but I think it's in Arizona or some such place. It does seem fishy in this day and age that an airline can't get bags back to passengers with all the ID tags, Airtags, etc. It's especially troubling to see artifacts that clearly belong in a museum or that gorgeous violin that obviously belonged to a professional or musical instrument collector.
Seems very fishy. Another scam like when they take
cash from people at airports claiming the person
carrying cash is doing something illegal.
Those items should be returned to the original owners.
I wonder how they get rid of the iCloud lock on the Apple devices
does a factory reset not take care of that ?? should I be doing something more than just a factory reset ??
@@mychellevanschaick4321 it does! but in order to do a factory reset, you need to have entered both the device’s passcode and the Apple ID password. This shop wouldn’t have either
@@mychellevanschaick4321 No. A factory reset does not erase the serial number of the device.
@@mychellevanschaick4321not with Apple
Why should a sad loss for one person be made into a bargain find for another? Its a perverse thing!
Ah yes so it’s just better to add to the landfill when they’re able to give it to others.
@@OneStubbornLass return it all to rightful owners. One month is not enough time. Change the silly rules!
Welcome to the United States of America.....
@@OneStubbornLassor make a real effort to get it back to the original owner 😕
@@sonalvora7933 How long would you wait for your tighty whites?
My husband had something stolen by TSA come back 10 years later.
So, let's start at the beginning.
You pack my bag, with personal items but are prohibited from locking it in case, according to the airline they have to go inside it. Its not being locked would be an opportunity for someone to go inside and take whatever they want.
The airline refuses to allow you to carryon items that are too large to fit on board the aircraft. Ok, fair enough. But then it gets "lost," by someone in the airline or airport after you trustingly hand it off to airline employees.
Eventually, your "lost" item makes its way to the "lost" baggage store.
Understand that from the point you hand it to the airline until it gets sold to the store your item is never lost.
Case in point. The reporter opens a suitcase inside the store. This suitcase would have been tagged. What happened to the identifiable tag?
4:07 I had never heard of this store until today, and I used to live in Georgia (next to Alabama).
So what happens if you find your own stuff in there? Do they have to give it back to you? Disgusting
Also, what the f is going on with the blue dress presenters hair? I've never seen anything like it?!?!
I was wondering that, too. It looks like a hat.
It would be funny if the person that owned that bag was like, hey! That's my bag! That's my stuff!"
Basically you can make more money when you buy a unclaimed suitcase
Right at the end, luggage donated to foster kids.
This is the best part because foster kids hate schlepping their stuff in trash bags. That luggage is actually good for their self esteem. Well done!
If the airlines ever lost my luggage this is the first place I'd look! But then again, I don't ever fly so have nothing to worry about 🤭
I lost some luggage back in 2015, I wonder if it ended up there. I’d left some damp clothes in it so it probably wouldn’t have been fun to open. 😅
Nope. I think this is disgusting.
Do you think anyone cares?
@@chairmanofthebored8684 , Because you can’t shop there? Get over yourself!
I agree with you. Oh my goodness, the violin killed me
90 days is obviously not long enough to return luggage to its owner. So they know who the owner is, and through the FAULT OF THE AIRLINE they fail to keep luggage with the customer.. then give some cash amount to customer which cannot possibly restore sentimental value. And then sell to these guys who keep making money on it.
They should at least try to contact the rightful owners to see if they want to buy it from them intact.
IT IS DISGUSTING.
Airlines, do little to return lost luggage and will fight you to actually pay what was lost back to you.
Also if you lost a bag maybe travel down and have a look around!! Wow it looks like a big place! 😮😊
Makes me sick to see this. It should be returned to the owners.
Basically someone thought "hey wouldn't it be a great idea to sell other people's possessions that someone lost at the airport?" ......
I got separated from my suitcase while flying on frontier. After 3 days and 5 canceled flights i found it in room with glass walls. found the guy working the room and got it back. What a joke.
think they report all the drugs they find to the cops? me neither.
Nope: they sell that on the side😂
@@ceciliaalvarez97🤣🤣🤣
I saw a news bit on this 30 years ago and wanted to go ever since and have told many people about it over the years. This is only the second time I have seen anything about it though.
Why does this sound like something a thief would do? Is that store not selling stolen property?
Wish they had this where I’m at!
I’m fortunate enough to live a short drive to visit this place!
Screwy to think the airlines are making money off our lost luggage. Thus is just a clear disincentive for them to find our stuff.
They should not be able to sell people stuff! They are thieves!
Why do not donated!!
WOW! I have never heard of this store! Now I NEED to go!!!! I'm 58 - so where has this store been hiding all my life?! LOL
plain dam sad people want and need their luggage the airport are stealing our luggage
I once saw a bag arrive in Albany NY, not only did they find the person who checked it, despite using a fake ID. But thry Also found the 2 people who never showed to pick it up.
It had drugs in the bag.
And they found the people without the other ones giving information
Just wonder how many lost items get "lost" again through theft?
Trust me I am sure there's identification inside the luggage...just plain stup#dnes on the part if the airlines
I have heard of this Store or A STORE doing this back about a decade ago. But never knew where it was. I think this is probably where my luggage went. But is this only from the Airports or all transportations places?
Imagine buying your stuff back
Sounds innocent but at the same time it doesn't.
Names are on bags/ tags on all bags..how are they unclaimed
I wonder what they do if the original owner claims something?
Wow...
Great idea!
Been there n bought tons of cool stuff. GREAT STORE!!!!
Is there a store like this in Canada ? Where ? And are the prices good ?
How are they reselling Apple products when there’s an Activation Lock from the previous owner ? There’s literally no way to remove that unless you are the original owner….
How come they didn't show all the "personal pleasure" objects they find?
My dad was Station Manager for the new Eastern Air Lines terminal at Idelwild ( later JFK) airport. People would bring roast pigs to New Yorknfrom Puerto Rico for Christmas. A certain small percentage of these roast pigs would end up in unclaimed baggage. After a week or two.......
Interesting story !! Wow !! 😮👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
"Unclaimed Baggage" That sounds like what my exgirlfriend was suffering from.
😀😃😃
Put the information inside de luggage
Everyone puts tags on their luggage so whats going on? Profiting on others misfortune.
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
As someone who was robbed as a child this pisses me off.
I never heard of it. Is it really that difficult to recognize Roman armour? Have people never seen a movie with Romans in it? That has to be one upset reenactor.
Apple AirTags is this store’s worst nightmare.
Lesson here...NEVER travel on a plane with anything of value. You may never see it again.
An airline has ninety days to compensate the traveler who lost their property. CBS doesn't indicate if the compensation is fair value or what percentage it is. Too bad real journalists didn't do the story.
Anyway, it begs the question:
If an airline has access to the owner/passenger's Personally Identifiable Information, or PII, then how is it the airline is unable to get the property back to its rightful owner? Even if the airline refuses to ship or pay a courier to deliver the "lost" item, it could give the owner an address at which the owner could then go to get back their item.
If you've lost a $20,000.00 Rolex or an antique violin or movie props are you going to not return the airline's calls? Throw up your hands and say c'est la vie?
How much of a cust does an airline get from the sale of a lost item? Do airline employees get bonuses for maybe not trying so much to reunite property with owner? Especially after the pandemic when so many flights were cancelled or grounded airlines are looking for ways to recoup their losses, even though this shady practice has been occurring for decades?
This is some serious BS! This is theft plain and simple. What is the name of the owner?
It's not the owner who's a thief, he paid fair and square for everything. But the airlines, on the other hand....
@@wolfc8755 That one thinks Alec Baldwin is an innocent man.
But do they ever check to se if there is a name or tag? I think this is supposed to be a feel-good story, but it really mak6me mad.
iPads or any Apple product could easily be traced back to their original owner. Seems like robbery to me.
If your luggage is missing, ask the cabin groomers first. Most likely, they brought it home already unnoticed by fellow cabin groomers. I know it. Speaking for a friend.
Is cabin groomers the cleaners?
@@randolfo1265 Yes.
Where has he been? I heard about this place over 10 years ago.😐
Someone PLEASE get that blonde to hair and wardrobe. Total redo needed.
The ROLEX WAS MINE....
Did they find any illegal drugs?
If they do they have they have the F.B.I. return it with cuffs in hand.
"Unclaimed" makes it sound like you gave these people the opportunity to recover their personal items and they simply chose not to... that doesn't seem to be the case here. At all. 🤔
That's my Rolex watch and I want it back
Wheres sam brinton? 😂
Things were more expensive there than you could buy them in the store new! Not worth going there!
WHY NOT IN BELGIUM??😒
If there were illegal things in the bags I GUARANTEE YOU THEY WOULD FIND THE OWNERS
This doesn't incentivise these TRASH airports not to constantly lose your luggage, which already happens quite frequently enough. Bad idea. 👎🏿
The passengers get paid for their lost luggage. If it is truly valuable, passengers would have it insured or better protected.
This is theft.
This is terrible. Donate the stuff instead. Or try to give it back to the rightful owners.
Sounds awesome but still not worth going into Alabama for.
Grow up!
@@MrFirstone23 pfft
I’ve been here plenty of times and it’s nothing but junk.
If they have one of my bags, can I get it back for free?
I have been in this store. It is no thrift store you can buy new for what they sell this junk for.
😢👌🤐💔
Why would a man keep his wedding ring in his suitcase? Hmmm
Airport workers be stealing period. They keep these things on purpose
That is a horrible story. That luggage belongs t people. It has identification tags and the airlines are responsible for your luggage. Every measure should be made to return it to the rightful owner.
This store owner is a thief.
Stolen property
This is criminal. This stuff belongs to people. Who deserve it back. A lot is airlines fault it got lost. Now making a profit off peoples lost dreams.
What is with the blond's hair?
That guy anchor is very irritating.
The virginian Kelley nimoy
I DISAGREE! -_-;
i understand the concept bad this is strange!! imagine wearing someone elses bad bitter frustrations with lost bags and hopes and dreams around your neck with pride.. not for me!!
Who gives them the right to sell someone's belongings?
No difference than buying a storage locker!!
The storage lockers are considered abandoned due to non payment. That is different.
