What I took away from it is that people are all complex networks of the self and the things around them. There are so many connections to account for in people's lives, we can't just pretend that this person spawned out of the ether or fell out of a coconut tree. There are families and communities that also need to be accounted for when moving forward with making the world a better place. The message is that she doesn't want to fix the surface problems, she wants to improve things on a broader scale and listen to the needs of the people who really understand the complex situations.
