A very promising run! Laura has historically been blighted by both injuries and naive tactics. Hopefully she will achieve the massive potential she showed a few years back this year. GO G.B!
I have always thought Brenda Martinez is phenomenal and so consistent, but why does she always seem to throw hands/trip/trip others in her races? It looks like she hits Muir at 1:37
@@Shevock ah okay, well if she didn’t hit her then my point is mute, but I’ve rewatched it a few times and don’t see Laura do anything that would elicit a slap. But obviously I’m not there so🤷🏼♀️
Yes, Martinez did hit her. When the video switches to the head-on shot, you can see Muir move abruptly inside and runner #5 is forced to move over and brake. IMHO Martinez committed a foul because she has clear room to her right and Muir is in a very tight position. Martinez should have either sped up or slowed down to move inside. Forcing Muir into the congested lane could have caused a chain reaction accident taking out several runners.
Tracey seems to get herself blocked often enough, but hardly got a mention during the race. Finished ahead of Reekie & Muir about a month ago. Muir's time about the same as the winner's, Hodgkinson, in Ostrava (which is the fastest by a Euro Jnr since '87). Muir does not have the most natural talent either. She's of average height and average build for a middle distance runner but she simply trains better than almost everyone else. She pushes herself all the time.
@@mikebarnard7957 😂 Laura has said that her small veterinary work is purely a way to keep grounded and give her a second relaxed way of living, absolutely nothing to do with training, just mentioning it in ref to Laura is a complete disservice to her hard work in being a top five world 1500 and 3000 meter champion. I didn't see it. It looked like Muir was moving left and then right to find room to make her move. But 800s are always a little physical.

I like the tall chubby athlete who ran slow in the race. Maybe she was nervous. The way she was dressed I thought she would be faster.
Better than my 800 jeez
I can run a 1:58 800 too. Who here would like to see me do that in a youtube video sometime?
