I've made this last night with a few adjustments and i made a dipping sauce. It was awesome. I think i found my new favorite fried chicken recipe. Thank you for sharing this. 😀
I followed all your tips for fring chicken, but used my own recipe, it turns out great, really it is the crispiest children ever, my whole family enjoyed it very much, thank you so much.
I just transformed into vegan diet, after watched this, am goin to break my vegan one day and try this receipe. Just because bi heard the crispy sound..hahaa. thank you spice n pans
I like this recipe and will try it soon, you always show great tutorials and recipes. I've made several of your recipes and my Chinese wife enjoyed every dish.
Another simple and excellent recipe from my favourite chef. Will try this during this Puasa month. Lazy to pound the ingredients so will use the ready off-the-shelf ground stuff. Hope it turns out as well. Thanks Roland!
This is an ideal recipe for people craving fried crispy chicken. Best than Jollibee, KFC etc. Cook it at home, you are sure using clean oil and you know what was used to make it tasty.
The first time I tried making something from your channel was the "Chinese beef with ginger and spring onion" recipe and it turned out perfect 🥰 A fan of your work, attention to detail, and entertainment.
It looks delicious!!! I have only found coriander roots one time, and it was just one in the bag with the bunch. Would the stems give it the same taste?
Hi Roland ( I hope I get your name right?) thank you for sharing your recipes. Many thanks from Australia! Your fried chicken, Alamak, makes me hungry now!!!!!!
In the video you showed only one tsp of the pounded spice to mix with the water & sauces to season the drumstick, is that enough to season the drumstick ? Or do we use up all that we have pound ?
Thanks so much, Gail. Coriander roots are commonly used in Thai dishes and this ingredient is what that gives Thai dishes a unique taste. But we reckon that without coriander root, this chicken will turn out just fine as well. Happy cooking!
@@spicenpans wow, thank you so much for the swift response. Very excited to try this recipe. Got all the ingredients from the store yesterday. Thank you!!
It definitely looks super delicious. Would it be fine to marinade overnight? What can substitute for the self raising flour? Thanks for the great recipe.
Errr no. Freezing after the first fry will introduce icicles into the batter n meat. it wld be better to freeze the marinated chicken n then proceed to thaw n follow the next steps altogether
Hello chef! We love fried chicken we and I wanted to try yours, but can I use APF, cornstarch and baking powder ? That's all I have for the breading chef. 😊
Hi Judy. You can use that but the crust will look like the one in this video ruclips.net/video/ULwlg5GzS5w/видео.htmlsi=d42KSlseOh6GylT5 APF and baking powder in the right combination will become self rising flour and cornflour will create the lift even more. If this is the crust you are looking for, by all means use the combo. Happy cooking!
🖒🖒🖒It has been a while since I deep-fried chicken with spices as the skin always got burnt before the meat is well cooked. Your tip on butterflying the drums is great and so is the ratio for the batter. Thank you so much for sharing and I believe my family can enjoy deep- fried chicken henceforth...😃😃😃
Oooh I just cut up a fresh chicken! Tomorrow I gotta try this. Hey! You could give the Colonel a run for his money. Roland’s Thai Crunch Chicken trucks, like Amazon but tastier.
Hi Meli, Teenie Weenie is right and also this is a wet batter recipe. You may want to coat it with more flour or crumbs to make it less wet otherwise they won't turn out right. We have other crispy chicken recipes using air fryer. You can use our airfryer technique with the marinade used in this video. Hope this helps.
Hi Choc Choc, you'll need to change up the steps a little because I believe wet batter doesn't do well in air fryer. Please watch our airfryer crispy chicken video to see how to make crispy chicken in an airfryer. You can mix the steps together to make this chicken. Happy cooking!
This fried chicken looks ace. I will be trying out this recipe soon on chicken and mushrooms. Thank you for the share. I have not had a decent fried chicken since the pendemic. My local KFC used to do good crispy chicken. It has been ages since I make copycat KFC fried chicken but yours is crisper.

It looks delicious!!! I have only found coriander roots one time, and it was just one in the bag with the bunch. Would the stems give it the same taste?
Yes you can use the stems but they may not be so fragrant. But overall, it'll work. Happy cooking, Sauzalita!
@@spicenpans thank you

thank u for the informative video!
Definitely looks good and tasty, I will have to try it.
Happy cooking, Anthony!
Would toasting the whole dry spices before grinding yield a more fragrant marinade?
Hi Brian, yes surely but you don't need to do that. They're fragrant enough. Happy cooking!
Perfect fried chicken Sir it's so yummy
Thank you so much, Renea!

In the video you showed only one tsp of the pounded spice to mix with the water & sauces to season the drumstick, is that enough to season the drumstick ? Or do we use up all that we have pound ?
Didn't have the Chinese coriander root but this was delicious even without it's presence. Another winner!
Thanks so much, Gail. Coriander roots are commonly used in Thai dishes and this ingredient is what that gives Thai dishes a unique taste. But we reckon that without coriander root, this chicken will turn out just fine as well. Happy cooking!
I like your mixing bowl, I will try your fried chicken recipe. Is it okay if I skip the coriander seeds and Chinese parsley?
Technique wise yes but flavour wise it’ll not be the thai street fc if u r ok w that
Teenie Weenie is right, Edel. Happy cooking!
Hi, love your channel. May I know which brand fish sauce would you recommend?
Hi Clarice, we used knife brand but it's better to get fish sauce from Vietnam. Happy cooking!
Thanks. Very yummpy. Will try.👏
Can i make this amazing chicken in an air fryer?
This Fried Chicken Recipe look so good. I will be trying😋😋😋

@@spicenpans thx!
Hi! Just wondering.. is it corn flour or corn starch? From the video it looks like cornstarch because here in the US our corn flour is usually yellow?
Yes you’re right. Please use cornstarch. This is according to my google research. Happy cooking!
@@spicenpans wow, thank you so much for the swift response. Very excited to try this recipe. Got all the ingredients from the store yesterday. Thank you!!

Hi Family C, you can use 1 tablespoon of plain flour and add about 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder. Happy cooking.
Will definitely be trying this. Ty 😊 🙏 chef
I love it ❤️ I’ll try it while watching thank you chef✌️✌️
Thank you so much, Pinky Rea!

Hi.. can I single fry in a larger batch and freeze or chill the cooked chicken so I just do the second fry at a later time? Hope I make sense.. thanks
Errr no. Freezing after the first fry will introduce icicles into the batter n meat. it wld be better to freeze the marinated chicken n then proceed to thaw n follow the next steps altogether
Hi Alec, Teenie Weenie is right. Happy cooking!
Looks so yummy! Just wondering if it will stay crispy after a few hours?
Hi Alicia, unfortunately not after a few hours but within 30 mins should be okay. Happy cooking!

Can we do this with an airfryer?
Hi Derek, this is a wet batter recipe which I think may not turn out well if you use an airfryer.
I am going to try this later, will be cooking lots of rice and sambal to go along 😁 my family love fried drumsticks. Thank you
Sounds awesome! Thanks so much for using our recipe, Ken!

I think if you add fried garlic and fried onions for toppings, it would be a good combinations.
Can have more steamed recipes?? More healthy 🙂
Yes most definitely. Thank you for requesting :)
Can we toss all the marinate ingredients into a food processor instead of pounding n grinding them ?
Thank you so much for your recipe. However I replaced drumsticks with chicken wings as I couldn't get any drumsticks from the market.
You’re almost welcome. Chicken wings are perfect. Thanks so much for using our recipe, Julian.
