GREAT OCEAN ROAD, AUSTRALIA - Today we’re going on a tour of the iconic Great Ocean Road, and we’ll be eating some of the best Australian seafood along the way.
The Great Ocean Road is a historical highway that connects remote coastal towns along the southern coast of Australia. It was initially started as a project to create jobs for soldiers returning from WW1. The construction began in 1919 and was mostly completed when it was handed over to the government in 1936. When I visited Australia, I was excited to drive this iconic road for the majestic natural beauty - the rugged sea cliffs, the windswept coast - and probably most of all - to discover some of the best local seafood restaurants along the way.

When Mark doesn’t actually like a part of the dish..his way of wording it is so professional and polite 🙏🏼
It's a simple hmm, as opposed to his OH WOW 😆 And Lean back
I love his positivity. We all need to experience more.
I've been watching Mark Weins for around 10 years now. I'm still amazed at how much food he can eat in one day 😂😂😂
I agree and not gain any weight. I wish I had that metabolism.
I'm so happy to see Mark so radiant, healthy, happy, and full of his amazing energy!
I waned to say thank you Mark, Micah and Ying for all you do I get to travel the world with you guys learn all about different cultures, food, traditions. Although I always get hungry when Mark describe the food. He opens your eyes to so many things, food brings people together, brings smiles to your face and happiness to the heart, this is what Mark has taught me.
Hes not doing you a favor or traveling for free😂😂😂😂 don't thank him, you're paying for his unemployment
@@anonymouse540sounds like a sad and miserable human that’s jealous of Mark being able to travel and make good money. Cope
its not just about how mark shows the fodd its also about how he shows the culture
ya its great watching someone a 1000 times saying the same thing over and over lol o yum so great crack face
He's showing stolen culture from Europe which originates from criminals lol
What culture? It's Australia, unless you're hanging with aborigines then whatever culture you're experiencing is stolen from other countries
There is no culture in Australia. Unless you're a leech
Food
Love how at 14:01 Mark says the fries are just outstanding and then right after his son goes “but the fish is better” 😂
😂😂😂
Growing up in Melbourne, and now 60, Fish & Chips on Friday just wasn't just a Good-Friday thing (though to it we owe the legacy), it was a cultural thing, every Friday! Affordable tucker (in those days) the whole family looked forward to. For generations prior, innumerable families, across the suburbs, Fish & Chips were an intro to the celebration of the weekend. It is our culture and hasn't faded or been written over as yet. We didn't invent Fish & Chips, but boy did we make it our own, refining it and honouring each mouthful as an Aussie thing to do.
Hey Mark! As a devoted fan, I'm thrilled that you've experienced the amazing seafood and fish and chips in Australia. It must have been an incredible culinary adventure! I'm eagerly awaiting your next video, and if you get the chance to explore New Zealand, I'm sure their cuisine will amaze you as well. Safe travels and keep up the fantastic work!
Yes as an Australian myself I am just gobsmacked at the prices being charged by restaurants and takeaways these days, and wonder how on earth anyone affords it. I never eat out. Love my seafood but i'd rather cook it at home. If you can catch it, clean and fillet it yourself then you are laughing. Everything is exorbitantly expensive in this country and it's one thing I will never come to terms with. Just glad I am a good cook and can prepare yummy packed lunches and dinners, coffee etc without needing to pay these prices.
Agree there, the way this Country has taxes upon more taxes is ridiculous along with costs of everything else going through the roof. The average Aussies can only dream about eating these foods these days. Seafood in Aus was a bargain 15 years ago and very affordable, now it's for the rich only.
Especially in Melbourne everything is ridiculously expensive
Justo, estoy pensando en, cuántos de cara es la comida en ése lugar.con este comentario, queda aclarado.

At least tipping is not a thing in Australia 👍

Access to good food makes life worth living
What an incredibly beautiful trip! Thank you for sharing your adventure with us, Mark!!
I can always hear Micah in the background. It would be nice to see more of him, especially if he's trying new food
Absolutely Incredible scenery and delicious looking food!!! Awesome video!! Thanks for sharing Mark! Cheers!!
Welcome to Torquay, Mark! My hometown. Glad you enjoyed the food and the locations. We’re very proud of our part of the world and you presented it beautifully. Happy travels and buon apetito 👍🌶️
Torquay is my hometown too !
In the UK that is 😆
Hope your enjoying VIC! So many good places! Never thought you'd make it down under!
even the dirty river water from the local creek was "@_@ WOOOOOOOOOW AMAAAAAAZING"
I thought the same but summer time is so different
Hi Mark! The orange part on the scallop is actually the roe (scallops female reproductive system - if grey in colour, it’s called “milt” and is the male part)
very delicious, but not often seen as they’re usually removed.
Came here to say this
Yep. I laughed at the tongue comment. That would be a big tongue!
I was just about to say this! Funny how he corrected Mark but then said it’s the tongue 😂
Welcome to Australia! These places are truly beautiful, and you covered it so well. It makes me want to go on a road trip again.
All I know is watching you eat makes me feel so deprived of delicious food and how much I'm missing out on beautiful places in the world. I'm living life through you! Thank you so much for talking time to share all this with the us!!
Mark, you visiting my home state and exploring things I’ve been to a million times makes me appreciate my humble home that much more! Thank you and enjoy the rest of Australia

Hi Mark, welcome down under to Australia - so glad you could make the trip. I knew that our stunning scenery would not disappoint, but I am so happy that our fresh and naturally grown and farmed cuisine made you happy too! Enjoy your time here mate, all the best. Cheers.
Been loving this aussie series, I've got to say very proud that you put the time to learn all the names of the towns and to pronounciate all of them properly, very hard for most people. Keep up the good stuff mate 👍 🤙
Beautiful! It's always the seafood episodes that make me extra envious 😅 Love this wide open landscape as well. Another point for Australia!
Great to have you here in Melbourne! Can see you’re enjoying your time, so much amazing food down here.
The quality of these Australian food videos is on a different level, amazing job Mark!!
Man, Mark is living his best life eating all this food, welcome to Australia!
I love how Mark takes his time and gets to not just eat the foods on his vlog, but gets to know the people that prepares his food. We learn about the people, where the foods come from and how it's been prepared. Love the vlog, Mark.
You need to make a stop to Bondi in Sydney and try some of their restaurants. My Auntie went there and said every restaurant was wonderful and the seafood was the best she had on her trip to Australia.
even the dirty river water from the local creek was "@_@ WOOOOOOOOOW AMAAAAAAZING"
The Melbourne Government paid this guy to do these videos. He ain't going to Bondi or anywhere if ain't getting paid .
Mark it is amazing how you always improve your videos with you great energy and charisma. Always pleasure too being able to travel distant places through you channel after all this years. Please keep going and never stop.
What an adventure! Beautiful fresh seafood and the scenery of the breath-taking landscape. Wow Mark! Drop-the-Mic!! 🎤🎤🎤☺️
I love our good in Victoria. Fresh seafood beautiful places to go and the best coffee in the world. We are so lucky we are multi cultural we eat the best of all worlds
I'm from nsw and agree. Victoria's coffee Is so so good
Welcome to Australia Mark, I'm glad you're enjoying the food and the great scenery.
The ocean view is beautiful I love discovering new places with you and your family. Is just so amazing to me. Keep doing what you're doing you're doing a beautiful job exploring new things new countries. It's just so wonderful.
This food review video is a feast for the eyes and the senses! The high-quality visuals and close-ups of the food make it incredibly tempting. The presenter's enthusiasm and genuine enjoyment of each bite make me want to rush out and try these dishes right away. Fantastic job capturing the essence of these culinary delights!

we have good food but its expensive
eyes and the senses! Not the ears. I wanted to slap him for chewing with his mouth open. Alot os slurping and open mouth shots nobody wants to see or hear. Pigs at a trough make less noise.
@@mentalasylumescapee6389 you almost post this comment of yours every comment section if you dont like the way he reacts then dont come to his sections, thats pure jealousy😂😂
@@strings2wood No he didn't. What are you talking about?
Once again thanks Mark for bringing & show us a different places , exploring food is a plus!
The fun of the presenter and the real enjoyment of each meal made me want to try these dishes right away. Great job capturing the essence of these delicious foods!😄😍😍
Love the way Mark show cases an area. So proud to be an Aussie, I think Mark might like to live here too. Great content, looking forward to more.
The orange pieces attached to the scallop are the reproductive organs, often referred to as 'roe' or 'coral', often discarded, however I personally believe it to be the best part of the scallop or atleast in line with the meat, so sweet and delicious. Not liver, and definitely not the tongue 😂 I don't know where your friend collects his information 😂
someone likes eating repoductive organs lol

Roe is beautiful I love it
It tastes like the rest of the scallop. I miss the orange part, don’t see it on scallops in the US.
Another amazing vlog Mark, glad you finally made it to Australia 👍
Mark, you're driving us nuts showing us all that yummy seafood!! Great showcase of the food offerings on the Great Ocean Road. We are so lucky to have this wonderful place so close to home.
Hes driving the spectators nuts too because they hungry
Wow! All of the food in this episode looks fantastic! All of the fish looks amazing and that lamb Looks To Die For! You have a lovely life, sir!
You really showed up some of the beautiful and quality local food Australia has to offer and now I can’t wait to go try for myself!!🍴🔥
26:50 it's the ROE of the scallop.
Yes or sometimes referred to as the coral. It is the reproductive organ not the tongue. 😅
I love how Mark semi collabed with an actual chef. He was doing his yummy face while the chef was calmly tasting the same things and calmly storing those sensations into his memory bank. That is how cuisine moves forward. With people like mark and the Thai chef who experiences the same thing.
You're absolutely amazing I'm going through a lot so please pray for me. 😢😢😢😢
The Great Ocean Road is amazing to travel. Glad you experienced it in all its beauty Mark!!
Hi Mark
Thank you for sharing all the great food and culture.
I love Micah's commentary about the fish in the background, so cute :)
Mark Wiens grilled squid is absolute delicious and juicy. Fish in Australia is truly fresh, we make so many delicious dishes.
Whoever gets to meet mark, show him different places over here & eat with him is so lucky!!! Welcome to our land mate ❤️
P.S Torquay let alone the Great Ocean Road, the twelve apostles extremely beautiful place.
Our land, yet you look Asian 🤦🏼♂️
Outstanding drone footage! Apollo Bay has a low key hazy relaxing vibe to it which is perfect for dining on shoreline seafood. Im such a French🍟 fry lover so hearing the crispy crunch from Mark chowing down gets my dopamine kicking. The oysters look so fresh & clean! The batter fried fish looks insanely tasty but I drizzle hot sauce on mines. My wife loves fried calamari so she would've definitely indulge in those. Thanks Mark for another phenomenal uploaded treat! So anticipated for the next virtual gift you spoil us food lovers with. Cheers Mate!🍻 Loving the special shoreline footage & cockatoos. 🐚🐦
The crunchy sounds of that 2nd spot is making me buy a ticket to Australia.
Proof you can eat for a living & not become obese 🤗
Depending on genetics and metabolism
Mark I usually don’t make a comment, but the way you eat that fish the food was so succulent It was extremely painful to watch because I couldn’t have not one bite and wolfing down my hot coffee and my stomach is growling watching your show. What a great show.
Everything looks so delicious!! I loved this Mark! 😋 I’m a seafood lover so this episode really made me excited to see.
I'm afraid of heights, and can't fly. Thank you SO MUCH for taking me dining/traveling with you!! Now, PLEASE send me a doggie bag! :D
Lol he don’t care if it’s hot he still gone eat 😂😂love it❤
Mark Wiens, the ultimate likeable travel food guru. Thank you for this great video production.
Loving how you are showing where we live in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 you’re doing such a good job and the food is obviously awesome 🤩 👏🏻
beautiful sceneries~~~~beautiful shots, and music~~~~ well done!!!!!
Awesome Mark. This is definitely on my bucket list. I've been following you for years your content just gets better and better.
Welcome to Aus, Mark. I have watched you for years and it is great you are now enjoying my home state :-)
Hey, Mark! Regarding fish-eating, there is a place in Holland. Hoek van Holland, where the Maas flows into the sea. There is a small round restaurant with glass windows, where you could eat wonderful squid rings and salad, while watching big cargo ships going out to sea. In the background refineries, and cranes show up on the other side. Wind is always blowing, sometimes raining, sometimes snowing, sometimes it is sunny all within an hour. Wind blows the sand particles in the face. There is also a huge WWII fort with three stories that can be visited. Hell, there was a manhole cover blaring out light music also! This was long time back, but Hoek van Holland is a unique venue that needs to be experienced!!!
OMG THE BEAUTY!!! That sunset @ 31:47 💖 I can feel the peace from that environment!
Very different in the summer. The GOR is a gridlock of escaping Melburnians. 😂
Great Ocean Road is the best, glad you enjoyed the scenic tour and the food! Nothing compares, in my opinion!
Wow. What an incredible seafood experience in Aussie paradise
So good to have you here!, so great to see him show casing Australia and its beautiful rich food culture we have, Australia should pay you for representing Australia as so many I know want to head out to venues we haven't been before which helps businesses, Hoping you can travel up to Northern Suburbs, a global variety here too.
One of my favorite videos ever, thank you for sharing the scenery and the apostles sunset absolutely amazing!!!!!
I'm so excited that you're here is Australia!!! I love your videos and have been watching for years,I even show my kids the adventures you've been on! Welcome to Australia 🦘🌏

Victoria certainly has plenty to offer - great choice heading down the Great Ocean Road...hope you made it to Port Fairy, lovely township with great eateries too. Enjoy Melbourne/Victoria/Australia Mark and family!
You really need to come back during Summer, makes it 10x better

Mark this is awesome, not only you've shown the Australian food but also the glimpse of the place. I enjoyed watching from Canada 🇨🇦
Victoria is just beautiful isn’t it mark ! I’ve never been to the great ocean road even though I’m from Melbourne, but I’m now intrigued and have to visit. The seafood looked incredible 😍 thanks once again Mark for showcasing our beautiful country.
It's right on your door stop! Get out there 😅
Thank the Vic government for paying him to promote the place.
Thanks for visiting Mark. You gave a really genuine summary of our beautiful rugged coast. :)
Wow welcome to Australia! The Great Ocean Road is a great drive and has heaps of amazing Seafood. I used to surf there. You will love. Have heaps of fun. 💛💛💛💛💛💛
Love all the oooh’s and ahhhh’s at the pub!! There is no pub near me that has that kind of food!! Amazing!!
Yesssss thank you for coming here. I have lived here for fifteen years and I am still astounded by its beauty
Fantastic video and locations/food.
It is great to see links between Oz and the UK are still strong - so many names of places are based on British towns and locations. Also interesting to see that Australian winter looks like UK summer - some of the places look similar to locations in Cornwall, Scotland and Wales.
Fantastic place and food looks really impressive. You have got to love Oz.
Everything looks good Mark. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

not to mention the pinot and absolutely gob smacking scenery of the Sth
Later in the year perhaps for whitebait?
So many great things in NZ!
Fish & chips are cheaper in NZ too and taste way better...
Give titi/mutton bird, rotten corn and creamed paua a go too Mark👌
you can really tell Mark makes a conscious effort to pronounce Australia and Melbourne the best he can like an Aussie lol
Astraya, Melbun..

Loving the aussie tour!!!
Mark, please come to WA. We will love to meet you.
We have the best food to offer!
I agree.
This is where I grew up! I feel so nostalgic watching this, thank u for visiting ☺️
Great views and sights! This food 😋 looks incredible delicious 🤤
Hey Mark, glad you're enjoying your trip down under. One comment though. I was more than a little surprised that nobody knew that the coral coloured section on the sea scallops at Apollo Bay are actually the roe, not the tongue of the scallop. Keep up the brilliant videos otherwise. Love them 👍
Yesse my fave is the roe on the scallops
Unfortunately when you purchase Scallops they remove the roe the tasty bit.
@@vt1940 the Fishermans Co-Op in Apollo Bay didn't on this occasion, although a lot of seafood outlets generally do.
These prices are insane 😱
Magnificent narrative. Outstanding food , presented to us by the best in the business. Mark, you are greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work, Mr. modern day Marco Polo.
I love your channel. It's so much fun to watch, but I especially love seeing your beautiful family and hearing your little guys voice in the background. So cute
This is most likely the BEST JOB IN THE WORLD Mark has!!!!😂👍🏻
So mouth watering!!!
So hungry now!
😅👍🏻👊
Great video. PS, 26:40 those scallops are NOT local. Australia doesn't have scallops with roe that large.
They're most likely scallops from China. A lot of places sell those as 'Tasmanian scallops', but they definitely are not. The commercial scallops (Pecten fumatus) from Tasmania have a much smaller roe.
The main species of scallops in Australia are the saucer scallop (Amusium balloti) and commercial scallop (Pecten fumatus), not the one in the video!
What a trip! Watching this video now brings back so many memories! Looking forward to many more adventures bro!
Mark your expressions are very infectious. I am glad you enjoyed Victoria.
man i wish mark could keep touring australia forever
What a delicious Seafood! 😋
