I replaced the belt in mine 40 years ago when I was a young single Mom,pre internet. I was quite proud of myself and couldn't have afforded to pay someone!
same here ! i live alone since 17 and fixed mine the other day thanks to him 😎 felt very rewarding ! my belt snapped and it needed a good cleaning that's for sure (i pulled 2 wood nails and 4 screws out of the lint catcher)LOL
@@JohnSmith-xu7ev I also used grease, chassis and bearing automotive kinda grease. It started squealing again after maybe a year or so. Not a very long-term lubricant for this application. @@ProleDaddy Im going to buy the better oem replacement parts from this one website. Those kits on ebay only last a year. The other problem i had is with the rubber. They would vibrate too much, sounds like you are drying a pair of shoes
I got a dryer for free a couple weeks ago because of this problem. I took it all apart and had a great time learning how everything inside works and then found the problem and was able to give it to my sister! Lots of fun . Lots of good information on an electric dryer repairs from guys like this
You are a great guy, going from your videos of course, and I truly appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge and congratulate you on having made something of your life and finding purpose, helps those of us that haven't found it yet feel better. 👌
Great video!! Just fixed my daughters dryer with some silicone oil…one of the wheels was stuck.. cleaned and lubricated everything.. pouring like a cat!! Thanks for your video, Sir!!
Been watching these videos for the last few weeks, I just love them. Went to dry clothes last night don’t hear the gas igniting! I want to fix it before my husband gets home on Monday. Not sure where to start, my laundry room is tiny, so it’s hard to move it around to take the back off… smh
The most common thing is the gas coils, at least on older models like mine (which are the most reliable). They're electromagnetic coils that actuate the gas valve. They're dirt cheap from my experience. You can test them with by unhooking the wires and using a multimeter to ohm them out. RUclips knows all about it.
it's a laundromat for you. great side hustle for you because you'd have only your time in maintaining it. that's 1 big chunk of overhead. since it would always be in great condition you'd get most of the area's business. 💪 GOD BLESS YOU 🙏❤ ALL
Silicone, got it. Thank you so much! I had to repair a dryer where the rollers were squeaking, and I didn’t know what to lubricate them with, so new rollers. I ALMOST didn’t watch this 😅.
Totally went through my old Roper about 10 years ago. F & R bearings, belt, idler, rollers, everything but the motor, still have the new element just in case. Still runs smooth and quiet, 40+ years on. Just wish I could buy a new timer, it's usually the first NLA part.
I had a late 80s Maytag belt-driven dryer(yard sale,$10) that was fantastic.I had to replace the belt twice, cleaned the open areas yearly and it lasted YEARS.
Thank you. I had bought a belt and lubricated one of the wheels and thought it was fixed. There was no noise for three loads. But then the noise came back. I hope this helps 🤞🏾
Total Rust restoration and roller belt kit. I put silicone on the roller shaft and it was quiet for a while, but then soon after the shaft started rusting then squeaking loud, I’m guessing since I saw the light rust. So I cleaned and put car axle grease lightly and no noise but got a slight rotating thump or knock. ??? So I went out and bought a new dryer that matches my new washer, was so happy cause it matches. My restored dryer works, just don’t know when the noise will pop up with new parts, come and go squeaks, thump, weird noise, then goes away… oh well destined for a new one.
Those dryers are easy to work on... just recently upgraded from a 28 yr old GE gas dryer to a Smart Samsung dryer... belt, coils, igniter, seals were replaced at least once, rust got the best of it....
I have one that was in a laundry mat they removed and replaced them with new. The guy who removed them tuned it up for me and I’ve had it since 1975 and I have an extra belt extra motor for it when it goes out. Best of all, I can take this apart and fix it myself.
I had a Whirlpool washer dry set from 1987 last till 2013 the rollers went out I temp fixed them with 2 inch washers and a old spark plug socket , till I could get a set , took 10 days . not 2 weeks after the washer pump went out, Both are still being used today . I been fixing stuff from age 17 . lot of people have no clue that things can be fixed .
This was just a band aid for me. Worked for a few months then started up again. The kit that includes both wheels, a belt and the tensioner was only 24.00 on Amazon. Easy to replace too.
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen, but it’s really quick. Do you have a longer video little more in-depth? I don’t have that much space do I have to take out that whole drum?
I like these little videos I saw this one the other day so I took apart my dryer you wouldn’t believe how much stuff is left over between the length and the change and everything else that thing catches let me tell you what your dryer is nasty I cleaned it out man it runs like brand new now
I cleaned mine out replaced the wheels and replaced all the liners on the drum and the ones in the back where the vent cover is idk what you call any of that but the dryer works like new again… I tell people at least once every 6mths or once a year clean out the dryer and clean out there washer machine Doing so will give the appliances a longer life span
Hey Love these videos Thank you Can you tell me wtf is up with front load Electrolux dryers Brand new, just installed in July, it takes 84 minutes to dry a load Spent a fortune on it Totally disappointed Thanks in advance Jules
I have replaced the belt and a roller on a Whirlpool- Kenmore dryer. One time me and my dad replaced a water pump and belt on a Kenmore washer. A lot of work but a lot cheaper than calling for service.
Had a repair tech replace the felt thing on the drum. He charged me so little by my perspective that I tipped him an additional $50. Knowledge is valuable. He was able to do something within 30 minutes that would have taken me hours and that’s if I didn’t fuck something up just getting to the problem. This was in the 90’s and internet was non-existent in my world. RUclips didn’t exist yet.

Why would my dryer not shut off when it’s done and all the lights shut off. The only way to shut it off is by opening the door or unplugging it. And then out of no where it starts working fine again until it does it again. It’s happening more frequently. Thank you very much for what you do.
How about a video on replacing that felt strip that lines the edge of the drum. Oh and how about when the dryer casing that seemed to serve as a coin bank?
my dryer is from maybe the 80's . No noises. I only end dry n fluff. save lots a energy line drying. just put up a wire shelf and some clothes lines if u have a laundry room. some things dry outside for the great air smell.
Tell me how to flip appliances when you turn a 1994 Kenmore elite washer for a 1300 profit. Rebuilt with milk stool, trans, brake, clutch, motor, and drain pump.
This is why I prefer basic washers and dryers. Easy to work on. Everytime I go to Lowe's and see those fancy-shmancy washers and dryers, I'm like "F*ck that!". And I prefer my appliances not to be made by companies that also make TVs, tablets, cell phones, Etc. The worst, in my opinion, is Samsung! 🤪
i know it might not be the best video to ask, but...how can be clean up the washing machine tub basket? (the outside too where we can't clean without taking it apart).
Question. Is it bad to leave your dryer squeaking? It doesn’t bother me and I don’t really have the desire to take my dryer apart to “fix it.” I’m ok with leaving it like that if it doesn’t hurt it.
how long does the silicone lubricant last? Should it be applied on a regular basis? I am about to change the rollers on a Whirlpool Duet that I bought used. I was told the rollers are making a horrible noise. Thanks

Just learned something! Silicone over graphite. Thank you. Got one eating idler pulleys.
Ive tried grease, it was a mistake. It gummed up and it makes the wheel want to seize up
I mean like graphite is pretty commonly used in lockpicking, works alright
