    I took everything mechanical apart and found nothing wrong with my dryer. None of the pulleys were bad and the belt was still in good shape. I did find a couple of penny's and a dime in the bottom of the dryer. After putting it back together there was no more squeaking and the dryer is operating fine. This makes me think the problem was that a coin had gotten stuck between the tub and either the back of the dryer or the front panel that holds the door. I'm not the kind of person that purchases things over the internet I don't need so I took the dryer apart before I wasted my money. Good Luck with your Dryer, Don't throw it out because it squeaks. Thank You Joe for sharing your knowledge with us! God Bless

      It's still holding up.. the pulleys are in the cart, however it keeps blowing a fuse after so many dries.. 10-15 then stop. I think the fuse should have a higher temp limit... Any suggestions? These are small fuses, pack of 20 for $15.. I've change each one in the back but it restarts after the lil white fuse is replaced

    • @Doityourselfwithjoe
      @Doityourselfwithjoe  4 года назад +1

      @@cherokeemckinney68 I wouldnt change fuses.Its because the pulleys may be binding. The fuses are doing there job. changing them ncould cause a fire so i dont recommend changing them to a higher fuse.

    Had a nasty squeak from a stubborn idler and tried the WD-40 method and it lasted 4-5 months... took it all back apart, removed every single pulley and cleaned them up as well as the shafts with brake-parts cleaner and a rag and took the time to clean the extra lint out of the shell and exhaust. Lubricated the shafts, retaining clips, idler and tensioner pulley bearing surfaces and the “path” of the belt on the drum circumference with Sil-Glyde brake grease and haven’t had a chirp yet! Hope it lasts, the dryer has always had a chirp and is currently running the quietest I’ve seen yet.

    Good tutorial on taking apart the dryer, mine is a different model but came apart just as easy, the noise on mine turned out to be one of the rubber wheels that keeps the drum rolling which was becoming seized so I just had to apply some oil and it was back to normal use. Thanks!

    Have an identical sound, though more intermittent. Opened it up and found a multitude of durrent pulleys and wheels, not sure where to check first. Hopefully this does the trick. **** I do think it's important to remind people that anytime you're inside your dryer housing, it's important to vacuum it out as much as possible. That lint buildup is where dryer fires come from. Every 2-3 years is ideal for piece of mind, doesn't take long.

    • @Doityourselfwithjoe
      @Doityourselfwithjoe  2 года назад

      You are correct! Thats how mine started on fire! I did clean it out after i replaced the pulley, with in a year my dry caught fire. My problem was the dryer hose to the outside plugged up and thats why the dryer caught fire.

    Thanks for the video. I did some vacuuming prior to praying the pulley wheel. Mine was a white pulley. There were to roller wheels towards the back on mine one on bottom left behind the round bin an the other right side too behind the bin. I sprayed the center of those two wheels too after cleaning them. So far driers back on squeak free for now. There was massive lint under there. Whirlpool 13 years old now. I’ve had the replace the temp sensor on it a few years back also but still going.

    Hey is there a specific idler pulley I need to buy?

    • @Doityourselfwithjoe
      @Doityourselfwithjoe  5 лет назад +1

      You should definitely look up the one that goes with your dryer. Google the name of your dryer then search for idler pulley or tennsioner pulley .

  • @lizc988
    @lizc988 Год назад

    So this pulley will def go out or does it just need to be oiled?

    • @Doityourselfwithjoe
      @Doityourselfwithjoe  Год назад

      It sill definitely go out. This will just get you by until you get a new part. I oiled mine for three weeks before the oil didn't work anymore.

    This is super helpful, but isn't WD40 flammable? I don't think I would use that in a dryer.

    • @Doityourselfwithjoe
      @Doityourselfwithjoe  2 года назад

      Oil is also flammable. You don't need to spray an entire can, just enough to quiet the pulley down till you get a new one. Use it sparingly and if you have any that drips down, wipe it up. That pulley is far enough away that it shouldn't be a problem. If you have flames reaching that area of the dryer, you have a much bigger problem. Hope this helps!

    I did WD-40 back in 2015
    To buy time, then used chain saw old, lasted way longer then regular oil.
    But after that started buying much older used appliances that could be repaired with basic hardware off a shelf. Modern appliances have turned into a cash grab.

      That one way to look at it. I would get tired of taking it apart every two weeks, however I would be curious how long before it goes out completely.

    Last week on Thursday, my dryer started making a faint screeching squeaking sound, probably from the motor and the bearing starting to get worn out.

    • @Doityourselfwithjoe
      @Doityourselfwithjoe  Год назад

      I doubt it is the motor. I thought mine was as well. I just replaced my pulley again. This time it made a different noise, and I thought it was the motor. after taking the dryer apart it was the idler pulley again.
