Loved your narrative tutorial style, I’m about to buy a laser and need to know how to create multilayered svg files. This is a perfect starting point . Loved how you left all the mistakes in, I will be making many and it’s good to see someone making them and rectifying them. I have used Inkscape for making single layer svg’s but hadn’t realised that you could do the multiple layered ones, I had almost abandoned my need to create original files but now I can see that your video will help me achieve my goal. Best wishes from England 😊

Excellent tutorial, well-paced, and thorough. I watched it 3-4 times to be sure I didn't miss anything. Used it to take a 2D image of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks logo and make a 3D SVG file that I post-processed and printed with my 3D Printer. It was a Christmas gift for a grandson who is a senior there. This process will be used many times in the future for all kinds of special gifts and personal items, including our grandchildren at NC State, Ohio State, & Syracuse.

You can restack (change the order of the objects) all at once by going to Extension > Arrange > Restack and then choose Radial Inward as the direction. I've not tested other directions but I assume other ones may work too.

@@ashleefalco I replied with a link to a video I made but doesn't look like it's here anymore so I'll explain it. At 6:16 you Break Apart the Trace Bitmap. Then at 7:00 you drag the teeth over to the solid black Spongebob object. The teeth object is behind the solid black object so you reorder. What you can do, after you Break Apart the Trace Bitmap, is select all of the objects created from the Break Apart. Then go to the Extensions Menu, choose Arrange, and then choose Restack. Another window will pop-up. There is a dropdown where you can select different directions. Radial Inward typically works for me, but I tested it with Top to Bottom and that worked as well. After you choose your direction, click Apply. Now the order of all of the objects created from the Break Apart will be reversed. For example, if you did a restack of the objects you wouldn't have to manually bring each object to the front of the solid black Spongebob object. If there's a better way to send you a link to the video I made please let me know. I'm sure you would understand better if you saw it in action.
