Its the fact i have been watching youtube videos For a while 12 months And still couldnt Grasp inkscape... i watch your video and its EVERYTHING I NEEDED thank you so much for takin the time to make this thank you.
I am so glad it helped. Hoping to make some more tutorials soon just been swamped with other things. Let me know if you need anything else in particular.
Thank you for your helpful and informative videos! I was using Inkscape to change a JPG into a DXF file and there were two types available , DXF 12 and DXF 14, I wasn’t sure which one to go for so I didn’t dare risk choosing the wrong one as I’m in the process of opening an Etsy shop. Thanks for your help, Tanya, - it’s much appreciated.
Can you show the whole process from making the svg to placing it in an etsy store? How does it get from Inkscape or canva to etsy for sale? Thanks so much!!
Thank you so much for this video! I am trying to learn how to make my own SVG files and this is helpful. One thing i'm trying to figure out is, where do you get the clip art used to make your own files(like the american flag)? Can you just incorporate other JPEG and PNG files that you buy? I see a lot of SVG shops that make these detailed files that seem like they use other files to make their file. I hope that makes sense! lol
Great question. I do not recommend using purchased clip art or images to use in your projects unless you modify them to the point they cannot be extractable. I am working on a video about licensing and proper use. The American Flag I made so I use it often. It all depends on the licensing terms of where you purchased as well Some allow use of their elements for digital but most do not Does that make sense?
Thank you. I try to show people you don't always need to use the pre made shapes to make things and can use basic shapes and manipulation to create items!
Thank you so much for all of the help and support you give to the creator community! You have been a huge help! I have been slowly learning Inkscape what would be the reason why my Inkscape SVG would not upload into the Circut program? I made sure everything was updated. I can not figure it out?!? I would appreciate any guidance you could give! Thank you!
Hi Kasey most SVG files are small in nature (or should be) if you have specific examples of what you're trying to do it may be a good question for the FB group and we are happy to help there!!
thank you for such clearly explained video. I am interested in creating digital art and selling it somewhere somehow, I have only created my first vector design in inkscape so i dont know much. Could you please explain why do you show your design in Cricut and Silhouette at the end? whats the purpose of these two programs?
Hi AJ these are the most commonly used die cutting machines for the purposes of cutting SVGS though some people will use them for print on demand if the license allows Hopefully that helps!
Thank you for this, Tanya! I know you've used both Inkscape and Affinity. In your opinion, which do you prefer with regards to the learning curve and ease of use? :) Thanks so much!
love this do you have a video on how u made your flag. I am in scotland and tried a scottish flag and it would not do the intersection thing that you did with your flag and heart
i notice you have design space on your inkscape tool bar on the side how did you get it linked like that. Thanks for these great easy tutorials also i dont see the link to the font the flag dont work either im so frustrated thanks for the tutorial
how do you open your svg file in silhouette studio, i have to use my dxf file to do that, silhouette shows an error when i try opening a svg from inkscape and says "file type in unsupported"
Thank you. Very helpful. I don't think I ungrouped my text before all the path, union steps etc. Will it prove problematic for my designs if I haven't done all of those steps please? x
If it's a regular font and not a script font it should be ok I would test it out though to make sure it uploads to the program for cutting correctly or have someone test it for you
@@ShootingStarSVG Thank you. It was a design that I used to use on my wooden signs. I've sent them to my Cricut and my Silhouette after saving them in Inkscape and they cut okay for me. It's hard to find people who will test designs, I don't really know anyone who could test them for me. It's just a little daunting because I know they work okay on my computer, I just hope they work for others. Thank you so much x
@@Sooz3112 There are plenty of lser groups out there on the socials I am sure someone would be willing to test files for you! I do that with my SVGs when I don't have the time to cut them
Thank you so much for this video! Super super helpful. Question, I usually use Silhouette so I’m not as familiar with Design space. When I make a design with multiple different color pieces ,for example text where every other word is a different color, on Inkscape and open it on design space and go to “make it,” the words are just all in a row, not spaced out as they appear on the design. Is there a way to fix that in Inkscape? Or would the customer just have to fix it in design space after purchase?
I recommend creating compound paths of the similar colors in Inkscape and then try bringing it in to CDS. It's either that or the customer needs to know how their software works (some do some don't) So if you have the work LOVE and the L and V are pink and the O and E are red you would select the L and V in Inkscape and create a compound path and do the same for O and E and then group them before saving. Try that and let me know how it works for you.
Hi Tanya, I have tried this 100 different ways and everything works until I get to the red part of the flag and click intersection. Any suggestions cuz it’s driving me crazy. Thanks for your great videos.
Hi Eva sorry for the late response holidays and travel has been preoccupying me. It may be helpful to show me what you're working with. If you;re not on the FB group join up and we can help you through it
If we don’t use Cricut or silhouette, are there any issues we should watch for in Inkscape to make sure the svgs are compatible if someone wants to use them for that? I was creating svgs for clip art, but if someone wants to use them for printing it would be helpful to keep formatting tips in mind. Thanks
Thank you so much for this video! It was very helpful and you are really good with your technique and designs. I wanted to ask, when you list on etsy, do you use the inkscape svg file or do you need to convert it into a regular svg file? If this has been asked already I apologize for missing it.
Glad it was helpful! I do use the inkscape SVG no need to convert from there just make sure you test the file in Cricut Design Space or Silhouette to make sure it opens properly.
@@raisabaiker114 I could be wrong, but I don't believe you can. You can, however do an export to .png, and if you want that converted to a .jpg, you could do it in something like Paint.NET .
I'll be making a quick video on this but you would go to export menu using CTRL+SHIFT+E and when you choose your options click EXPORT AS and choose JPEG from the drop down in the save window. Hope that helps
Watermarks are a waste of time. I don't recommend them. If people are going to steal your work they're going to steal it (and karma is one mean lady) Unless your design is hand drawn and crazy original I wouldn't bother with copyright either. Waste of money.
