  • How to apply your fall Prodiamine application.. Plus Prodiamine 65 WDG, it amazes me on how much I constantly talk about the benefits of applying this product and people still don't do it. This is the holy grail of preventing weeds in your lawn year round. this product is not a weed killer, it is a pre emergert herbicide that prevents weed seeds from germinating in your soil thus prevent weeds. now this Fall application is very important to prevent POA, annual bluegrass, poanna. this weed germinates in the Fall and survives through the winter and appears in early spring. hopefully this video will guide you to success. oh yea I almost forgot about using a marker die to help you see what you are doing, I use Liquid Harvest Lazer Blue Marker dye.

    As for the weed kill question, what ever on you are using you’ll have to follow the directions on the bottle but if you using a formula that says not to water in then I’d get something else to use because eventually it’s gonna rain 🌧 and most Prodiamines will say you have up to 14 days to water it in.

    BYD, Thanks for another great video. My yard was a disaster at the beginning of the year, it looked like one of your project yards and I got a late start this year. But it looks so much better. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! I put down Prodiamine last week. and it rained about a half inch two hours later. It was perfect .......... but then Mother nature pulled a trick on me and unexpectedly it has rained an inch or so everyday since. I haven't seen any obvious runoff. What should I do? Do you think it may all be washed out or could it still work? Should I put more down? Any advice would be appreciated.

      Pete Jameson if you went max then you can’t do anything, now if you see winter weeds at the very beginning of spring then hit it with Dithiopyr ASAP, if you half rated it then you can apply Dec 15 if it’s not freezing or you apply mid Feb.

  • @Troy-Echo

    I wish you had given people that don't know instructions on calibrating their sprayer so they know how many gallons of water to mix to get the application rate they need. Also, when I spray, I like to use a fan tip and walk along and spray beside myself. Spraying while fanning from side to side is not very precise. I run a roof cleaning business and I can tell you spraying in that fashion will give you inconsistent coverage. I sprayed like that once to show one of my employees how it turns out and you end up with overlapping heavy spots, then light spots with little product applied and it was apparent shortly after when the roof cleaned differently in a zig-zag pattern following how the spray pattern was. I just ordered my first bottle of Prodiamine and it should be here in a few days. I hope I'm not too late getting it down. I'm sure it will still stop most of the weeds, and whatever is green once my Zoysia goes dormant I can hit with some glyphosate in an envelope moistener container with a sponge applicator. My friend keeps on ignoring my lawn advice because my lawn didn't look all that great, but it was the first season really. He had not been here in about 6 weeks and came by yesterday and his jaw dropped and both he and his wife were really impressed with just how thick my Zoysia had grown. Trying to push a rotary mower through it is tough...I have a reel mower I bought for $30 to test out and it is SO MUCH EASIER to push, but it doesn't cut low enough for Zoysia. People think reel mowers are a pain to use, but with thick grass, it is easier. Thanks for the content Big Dawg! I'm not a Bermuda Grass guy, but that doesn't mean your content isn't still valid and great! There is another lawn care channel that was built by a guy that is (I think) a computer programmer. He put together a Prodiamine Calculator that does the math for you based off your grass type, square footage and the duration of protection you are aiming for, and it also includes the maximum amount of Prodiamine you can put on that turf type per year. For me it was something like 4.15 ounces for my 5,000 sq. ft. front lawn of Zoysia. I'm not going that high though. Oh, and that Spectracide product is AWESOME! I think it is one of the best all around weed killers for people that don't know what herbicides kill which plants. It has 2, 4D for the broadleaf, it has Quinclorac for the crabgrass and extra broadleaf control, Dicamba, which off the top of my head I forget what it kills mainly, and sulfentrazone, which is what kills the nutsedge. I had nutsedge coming up in my yard and this took care of 95% of it. That Specracide bottle is somewhere around $8-$9 at the big box stores and kills about 450 different types of weeds, including the bane of many lawns, NUTSEDGE!

      ThatGuyLoveGlocks the max for Bermuda is .83. In that video on that yard I went max, so in other words I didn’t do the spring app of Prodiamine. So let’s do the math. I did .40 in this vid which mean feb 15th I’ll come back with a .43. So if I did 4 apps I can do three .20 and one .23. So as long you don’t go over .83 in a years time you are good. Kisimkamara - A lot of weed & feed products sold in the late summer and fall claim they will kill crabgrass and a lot of people fall for the bait, but if you do the math on the amount of crabgrass killer, it is not much. Will the crabgrass die? Yes, around the first frost. Putting down a weed killer to kill crabgrass in the fall is trying to kill mature crabgrass which is difficult. You can sponge on some glyphostate on the exact weed without hitting desirable turf around the weed, or just put down your Prodiamine and prevent the fall cool season weeds and put down the prodiamine in the spring to prevent crabgrass next year, and allow the existing crabgrass (which is a warm season weed) to die off with cold weather along with the other warm season annual weeds. if I am not mistaken, this is a trick BYD taught me last year in another video.

      2steps69 I have a Ironite video out and as for Milo results it will just depend but Milo really needs plenty of water for best results.

    If I have dalisgrass, can I mix msma with prodiamine

    • @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral
      @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral  5 лет назад +1

      Smokey 6.0 if you are pacifically targeting Dallas grass then no, that way you can mix the right rate. If you had some Dallis grass, some crabgrass, nutsedge left over from a previous application you could but at reduced rate because your primary rate will be the Prodiamine.

      @@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral would it be wise to use msma this time of year or just use prodiamine

      Smokey 6.0 Target 🎯 6 plus works best in temps of 80-90 degrees,

      @@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral thanks. I'm going to do a prodiamine app plus a msma kicker. Yard full off dalisgrass

      Smokey 6.0 if yard if full of Dallisgrass then do separate application so you can get rates correct for both products.

    Sir on this video .4 oz with 1 gallon of water for 1k sq ft, but on next video .83 oz with 1 gallon of water for 1k sq ft???

    • @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral
      @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral  4 года назад

      That is correct, you-ll have to make the adjustments on your lawn based on what you are trying to achieve. I went straight max this season on the back lawn. If you go .40 you still can apply another .43 to reach the max yearly app. so by applying max i will have to wait a full 12 months before I apply again.

    hey BYD, how to with doc 's lawn Linda way better bro, come on mane! AND, he lived in Georgia. i think he's been watching you, there are some comets he made in his vids that are semi suspect.... just saying. but his lawn does look AWSOME. I'm with you.....

      Desmond Harris well here’s the skinny, most lawn care you tubers watch each other videos. We all kind of learn from each other because this lawn care stuff is forever changing. One advantage of watching lawn transformations in my lawn is that I have a common Bermudagrass which BYD plated himself and I have a Tiff-way 419 hybrid which is what most home owners have. So for the most part lawn and soil conditions are different. I thought 💭 you were my Ride or Die ( What U doing watching Doc ) 😂😂, Doc is cool though we both have our knowledge, it boils down to who you like or trust, I’m among for the Trust part 👊🏾

      2steps69 the Milo is great, if you’re asking about Ironite, it’s probably not necessary at this point if your not getting plenty of rain. If you’re talking about fertilizer then check out this video. ruclips.net/video/znL9d4KVcMM/видео.html
