- Main Street Electrical Parade is celebrating 50 years, so we decided to rent a ECV and head on over to Disneyland! This was our first time back since Kitra broke her ankle.... and it was a very interesting day, from learning to use a scooter for the first time, navigating massive crowds, eating not so great MSEP themed foods, but in the end it was all worth it to watch one of our favorite Disney parades of all time!

My wife and I spent our 10th anniversary at MK (since that's where our Honeymoon was). She was a few weeks away from delivering our daughter and the doctor advised her to take it easy due to a health condition that popped up during her pregnancy. As such, I pushed her in a wheelchair all day.
While the folks at Disney were great in terms of accommodating us, behavior of other guests towards her was truly eye-opening. I can't tell you how many people just cut in front of us like we were invisible. Had one guy that barreled right into her and almost knocked her out of the wheelchair.
It’s shocking how others don’t see the disabled, I’ve had the same experience

Back in '96 my family and I were on the Haunted Mansion when the lap bar got stuck. We couldn't raise it to get off so they had us go that same back route. We got to the loading area and they told us that the cast member who could raise the bar wasn't on the floor yet so they asked us if we wanted to just ride it a second time. It was a ton of fun and when we finally did get off the ride one of the cast members said, "I guess today is not the day you become a permanent resident, is it?" It was awesome! I'm glad that you're healing up, Kitra!

For those people who love Disney stuff, I know some things about Disney. First of all, Jolly Holiday is a song in Mary Poppins, in the parade the boy is Mickey and the girl is Minnie. I think my favorite float if I ever go to Disneyland is the Alice in Wonderland float.

I was at Disneyland in 2019 when the parade was going on and watching this video brought great memories and my heart swelled with joy. I was laughing along with Kitra watching her dance and play with the sipper and popcorn bucket. How cool are those! I want one now. LOL.
We totally aren’t popcorn bucket or sipper people but these have converted us!

Thanks in filming the electrical parade. It made me smile. I totally got why the crowds were excited and felt it. This is going to age me, but the first and last time I ever saw this was way back in 1981 when I was a teenager. The happy uplifting music is still the same but obviously the floats are much more sophisticated due to advanced technology. Since then I’ve been to WDW in 2011, DL in 1989, 2013 and in 2018 but there was no electrical parade. The great news is my husband and I will be visiting DL this summer. I would LOVE to get those adorable popcorn buckets Kitra has but doubt they’ll be available by August as they’re probably super popular. Anyway, thanks again in sharing this! I’m also glad to see Kitra zooming around on a scooter. 🥰
Kitra, I hope you gave yourself a huge pat on the back or a huge hug for getting out there and conquering a fear you had. It is good to see you getting out and enjoying the things you love again!

We took my grandpa who can't walk well in a wheel chair to Disneyland and did Haunted Mansion! So nerve wracking getting on and off, but everyone was so understanding and nice! So glad to see you were able to get out and about! Get better soon!

Kitta, I have been using the ECV for 5 years now. I used to rent them at the zoo but I got my own last year. I love it. I found out using this has its advantages we get to skip lines . The down fall is I am watching out for adults they don’t watch what they are doing. Kids are great.
OMG that parade gave me all the feels. I saw it years ago at Walt Disney World, and it brings back so many memories!

I did get to see the Main Street Electrical Parade in 2019 when it returned and I bawled the whole time. It too was my first parade I ever saw with my mom and dad back back in the 70’s and it holds such special memories. I’m so glad you got to go to the park and have some goodies and see this parade again, you did great Kitra!! Loved the shots of you “speeding” away. Wonderful video!! 💕❤️💕❤️

It was the first time taking my parents out to Disneyland since they closed and they had a blast for the most part. They enjoyed the rides and the parade. Didn’t enjoy getting coughed on by someone and mom got a little spooked by someone backing it up on her. The new disney experience.
You can do it Kitra. I’ve had to rent them several times due to blistered feet. Glad you got to go to Disneyland. ❤😊

I remember first seeing the Main Street Electrical Parade in 1992 when I was 4 years old. I loved it. My parents bought me the VHS and I recall seeing it many times over the years, both in Disney World and even when it was in operation over at DCA. I generally don't care much for parades, but this is the one I am willing to take time out of the day to watch. It has always held a special place with me, and seeing the joy this brought to everyone actually made me emotional.

Haunted Mansion Nightmare Overlay stopped for awhile while we were in the ballroom. Loved that! Thanks to whoever made that happen with their on/off needs.

So glad to see you both back at the park. As Hubby and I are both in scooters when at Disneyland it is great to see that you have it figured out. Our last trip in January was so much fun. We can walk a bit but all day is not possible without the scooters. Kitra, you will get used to driving it, I know we did and Disney makes it so easy.

Visiting a Disney park and listening to the ambient area music, and the music in the queue lines, and ride exits, are what keeps the nostalgia going and the people coming back. That is why I refuse to go to Disney World during the holidays. I can hear the exact same Christmas music on the radio. But during the summer, you can hear the music and the insects in the trees. I could almost go to Disney, without riding anything, just sitting on a bench and listening. We went to hear the park opened and I did not go back until I was in my honeymoon. I remembered everything about the Magic Kingdom, especially the music.

First of all, I enjoy watching all of your videos. Also I really want to thank you for showing examples of how the disabled can maneuver around a theme park like Disney & even get on the rides. Me being a recently disabled person 5 years ago at age 38 (Multiple Sclerosis), your adventure made me a little less apprehensive if I were to personally make a theme park trip here in Florida. I pretty much had the same concerns as Kitra as I use a portable power chair for ease of mobility. Your video instilled my faith in the all-out inclusiveness that is Disney. Again, Peter & Kitra thank you for showing me that I don’t have to worry about much if & when I do make plans for a theme park visit. See you on your next adventure 😉
Awwww I’m glad we could help. I will also add that after this visit it got easier each time by a lot. The first time is stressful but once you figure things out it gets easier.

I just became a fan of your videos a week or so ago, just subscribed to your channel today and I wanted to say I freakin LOVE you guys! I am preparing to take my two daughters to Disney World next month for the first time. I have not been there in about 17 years, when I last went with my wife. I have no idea about any of the new areas of the park (ie galaxy's edge) but your videos have helped me prepare and plan my trip.
Thank you for all of the work you do and all the time it must take to film, edit, post and monitor your videos. It's helping the peasants like me! I take notes of things to try and things to buy and things to maybe avoid. I appreciate you.

Years ago when I was a teenager, the electrical parade was one of my favorite memories at Disney. A little girl got lost about 15 minutes before the parade was scheduled to start and the mother was frantic and asked everyone around her to help look for her. Announcements were made, and they said they would have to cancel the parade if they couldn’t find the girl in time because they wouldn’t be able to turn out all of the lights. When I tell you that everyone helped look for her, I mean EVERYONE. Honestly, it was so special because we didn’t see a single person that was upset about the parade potentially being canceled. Everyone was genuinely concerned about the girls well-being. Just before the parade was scheduled to start they announced that she had been found and we could see the mother holding her little girl in her arms. That made it even more magical and special because everyone was so happy she’d been found. I felt the same kind of energy from the crowd in your video and I am so grateful I got to relive it! Thank you so much Peter and Kitra for what you do!! 💜💜💜

Glad to see Kitra out of the house and go to the most magical place Disneyland for the Main Street Electrical Parade. I saw the original way back in 1995. Watching the revamped version brought me back when I was there with my stepfather and he passed away 5years ago and I teared up. Love you and Peter, keep getting better. 😎😎😎

I know the situation isn't ideal, but I think it's awesome that you can now showcase a side of Disney that a lot of people don't think about. This is such a great resource for someone who is temporarily or permanently disabled who is thinking about taking a trip to Disney. I don't have any restrictions, but I know I would have the same fears and anxieties as Kitra regarding stopping rides, so it's refreshing and comforting to see and hear someone else's experience. Another reason why Ordinary Adventures isn't your average RUclips channel. Great job guys!
