Looked like you decided to put the battery in the back after all. Sorry to hear about the TH400 I do appreciate the content you put out. Hope to get a new build series with the new transmission build. One day I will be going to an automatic with something I build.

I tried my best to keep the battery up front!!! The turbo hot side decided for me, just not enough room. Thanks for watching, there’s more content coming with S10 build and porting heads etc!!!

I know the feeling. I ported some heads a couple years ago for a project. Sat on the shelf til 2 weeks ago. Finally decided to swap them and tore the sprag out of the trans in the garage just moving the car. So I got to go through the trans and do a head swap. All good now though.

You need a junkyard 4l80e from a van 6.0 liter and you can do burnouts all-day
the 4l60 can not handle the turbo
I over-revved my 93 blazers and split the aftermarket torque converter ' I ended up putting a 700r4 torque converter in my 4l60e in the driveway and it worked perfectly

You are right, a 4l60 won’t handle a turbo, but you forgot to mention the most important part of that statement. It won’t handle it if you have an incompetent builder and/or stock parts. However, your statement is definitely false if the right parts are used and a good builder, builds it. Mine has been going for over two years. I’m not dure what my hp is, but I’m running 20lbs of boost on a built, ported heads and cam 5.3 in a 3800lb gto. The 4l60 won’t last in a 5000lb truck making the power I’m making tho. In a blazer, no problem. It’s lightweight.
Also, the th400 has causes many many problems for a few friends of mine that have run them.
Just simply buying a junkyard 4l80 and it being able to handle burnouts all day sounds like the ignorant, regurgitated, false statement circulating the internet. A 4l80 is magic. It’s not bullet proof. And if you buy a worn out one from a salvage yard, what good did you do? I just had someone bring me a 4l80 to build because they went and did what you just said to and guess what? The forward clutches were smoked and it would not move when the fluid came up to operating temp. I would NEVER throw a trans in my car without a rebuild first.

Is it time for a new trans?

This transmission has maybe 500 miles on it, which is why nobody can figure out what failed, or rather why it failed. I think we’re all curious to autopsy the transmission to figure it out! I’m thinking maybe lip seal in the direct hub. JD

I can’t believe I hurt this one, heck it doesn’t have 1000 miles on it maybe 500?! Crazy
