We are Brian & Jessica, a married couple who started on a life-changing whole food, plant-based weight loss journey back in June 2018. In June 2022, our lives were flipped upside-down when Jessica was diagnosed with Stage 3 (possibly 4) ovarian cancer. We continue to share our adventures (highs, lows, struggles & everything in between) in following a plant-based diet while keeping you up-to-date on Jessica's cancer treatment.

I'm only part-way through... but why is surgery not happening? Drs don't think it's necessary? I don't think I've ever seen someone's cancer treatment so up in the air on how to treat it! Hope you get some answers and peace of mind soon. The confusion has gone on for too long! x

Have you considered therapy? Although friends and family are extremely important, they’re also not trained to help someone deal with a very serious life situation. I suggest that not just because you said you’ve been depressed lately but this cancer journey is a marathon as you know, not a sprint, and your mental health needs supporting over many months, as does Brian’s. And knowing that someone is getting professional help for their mental health needs helps alleviate that from his and your family’s shoulder. You are seeing many different professionals for your physical health, don’t forget there are professionals to help with mental health too. Lots of love and wishing the best for you going forward.

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer just over a year ago. I have been involved with NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition) and OCRA (Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance) and they have been very helpful. NOCC has monthly support group online-we’d love to have you with us for one! Remember that roller coasters unexpectedly go UP, too! Take care! Hugs!

Do you know Jesus, Jessica? He is always there for you and he loves you very much. Spend some alone time in God’s Word and get to know Him better. He will take all of your burdens and give you a wonderful peace in your heart. I said a prayer for you! Also, start taking vitamin B17. 😊❤

As a breast and ovarian cancer survivor, I understand what you mean about thinking this might be the last time you do something, trying to make every minute count, etc. You're right - it puts a lot of pressure on you. It's exhausting. Chemo and the flu...kind of hard to be festive, I think. Hope you get some answers and clarity about your next steps very soon. Remember - there are so many people thinking about you and praying for you. Allow yourself to feel all that love and positive energy. We're all here for you.❤️

🫂A hug for you. 🫂A hug for Brian. And much healing light and energy sent your way. May your angels soothe and protect you both during this emotionally overwhelming time.

Sending you much strength and love. I have survived 2 different cancers…and have a dear friend who like you had stage 4 ovarian cancer….15 years later, she’s doing well. Stay strong. One day at a time…❤

Breast cancer survivor here, please let go the image you have in your head of the "cancer fighter" and just be yourself. It's so hard to go through everything AND feel like you have to be an inspiration all the time. Also there's no shame in taking meds to sleep, the anxiety of that diagnosis is a LOT to deal with 💕💕💕 sending lots of hugs and I wish I could send extra white blood cells too 😂 (my numbers were always so low!)

The constant pressure of ‘seizing the day’ is exhausting. Take it slowly, get some rest and just hold each other close. ❤️

I'm so sorry your surgery got cancelled and you're down in the dumps. It's 100% ok to seek another opinion. I know you are happy with Mayo. Not saying you need to switch but it's always good to get another opinion! Stay strong Jessica!

I am so sorry that things are going as planned. I am a cancer survivor and still I can’t imagine the mental and emotional roller coaster you are on. May I suggest that you look at this as God working in the background and perhaps He isn’t ready for your surgery yet. ❤️🙏

If Mayo ever gets you down, I know they are big and fancy but their docs completely wrote off my son as hopeless (totally dif medical issue) and a local dr found him perfect solution and hes happy, healthy and lives on his own in a condo now. So nothing wrong with local sometimes 🥰🥰
