- In this video, we talk about K2 Black Panther, which is being tested in Romania. Romania has ambitious plans to procure approximately 300 new combat tanks to modernize its military capabilities. Poland has also inducted this MBT, and Romania is interested in both the K2 Black Panther and the K9 self-propelled artillery, as both weapon systems meet NATO standards. With the growing threat from Russia, NATO states close to Ukraine are increasing their defense capabilities. The demand for Romanian Panthers will be met through the plant established in Poland. Equipped with a 120mm smoothbore gun, superior protection, and advanced fire control and sighting systems, the K2 Black Panther is a formidable MBT.

Well Id say this tank is probably superior to the Leopard 2 and Challenger 2 or Abrams.

@@helloareyouthere Well don't want to be rude sir. It still has to prove itself. The comfort would mean nothing if it would break down in wartime situations for it being overly complex. I do have some trust in it however since Hyundai has a lot of experience making rugged industrial vehicles. So I presume it not just to be a technical marvel.

k2 is a 4th gen tank. newer concept than the old 3rd gen leopards challgengers and abrams which are heavier concepts from cold war era.

I say, Romania go for it! Good choice. Diversifying the sources for the suppliers of military equipment is wise. To rely on USA only is risky... not saying that they are not trustworthy but the political situation right now is uncertain so finding alternative suppliers is critical.

We bought a batalion of Abrams(50 something) and the waiting list for Leo is very very long. Plus only Korea is interested in manufacturing and sharing technology in Romania, which is one of the procurement requirements.

There's already methods to counter drones. Including electronic jammers and automated assisted RWS. It's one of the reasons why the Abrams X prototype mounted an M230 autocanon. And KF51 Pather feature a Rheinmetall Natter station.

South Korea uses a Korean-made engine, but the transmission is German-made.

The Turkish Altai is a k2 copy model made by Korea transferring 50% technology to Turkey. Precision parts are still purchased and used from Korea The engine is also made in Korea
