I enjoy all of your episodes so very much. I sit in my craft studio while you talk to me from my iPad and I relate to your feelings quite often. You don’t know this, but we are friends. 😊 You inspire me on every single episode and I wish to thank you for sharing yourself and your crafty adventures with me.

Thank you for chatting with us even on a low energy week, I agree it is important to talk about our hormones and cycles cos they can be pesky things in our lives. When I was young no-one spoke of them and so I always felt I had to try and hide how it affected me, which made me grumpier and even harder to live with! My husband must have been very patient as we have been together 50 years! I love this hinterland dress and it’s so nice to have a light floaty dress when it’s so warm.
I have been following @earthtonesgirl for shadowwrap instructions and she is very clear and a lovely lady like you. Enjoy a sit with your knitting by your fan and we will see you again soon! ❤

Oh Sarah, every woman is right there with you about female cycles. I am long past my menopause journey but i remember it to well. No fun was had by me. I also had terrible periods all the time so I had 3 good weeks out of every month and one week of no energy. When I got through with periods and hot flashes it took the sting out of getting older because I no longer lost a week out of every month. Hang in there! So happy you decided to share with us.

I don't like the heat either!! Your current challenges, you are human! It's okay. It's refreshing to see in real-time that women all over the world share similar challenges in day-to-day life.

I used to get very bad mood swings and behaved very badly during that time. I just could not control my anger! 😡 I am so glad that time is over! Thanks for your chatty and informative videos. Good luck with your sewing and sock knitting.

I feel the same way about the heat. Especially when it gets humid. I feel terrible and I can`t wait for cooler and dryer weather, preferrably with some refreshing wind. 🙂 I had fainting spells four times in the last few weeks. In Germany it is unbearable right now. It is over 30° Celsius and so humid. We had been having terrible thunderstorms and floods. Many people had horrible damage to their houses and we had deaths as well. This morning, when I had to drive my son to his apprentice work day, we had to drive though flodded streets and roads. In one town, the water, which was all brownish in colour, came up through the drains in the street, just like a gysire. People were standing in front of their houses, watching the floods with fear. Fire brigades were all over the place, putting down sandbags.
Last year it didn`d cool down until mid October.
I like to sit in front of my fan too, lol. I love to look at autumn and Christmas books too. There is a custom in the USA, they call Christmas in Juli. When I was residing in the USA from 1991 until 1995, I always thought that it was so cool. In the midst of the heat and the sweating and the misery, we had Christmas sales and Christmas ornaments for a few days to look forward to cooler times. The psychology of it really works. I know, it is probably just a sales pitch and promotion, but it worked for me. 🙂Now, back in Germany since 1996, I still love to dabble in the spirit of Christmas in July and browse through my magazines or look at old podcasts. I am of course alreay stashing away presents. I pick them up all through the year or make them. It takes time, to make all the presents.

You're dress looks really good on you! I was hoping to see full length picture of it. It seems very comfortable, something we women enjoy more as we get older, but better at being in our skin. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your day.😊

A delightful episode and oh so true of many of us. I love knitting socks as my easy project and have learned so much from watching videos by Earth Tones Girl and Crazy Sock Lady as well some excellent videos on fit by Roxanne Richardson. Winwick Mum produces some great patterns. Normally I knit garments when I am sitting quietly at home. 🇬🇧

You look so good in your dress...it looks like you did a wonderful job sewing! Your sewing muscles are really growing! It's nice you talk about menstrual cycle....it's part of life. Take some time for yourself! I really love that shawl...the colors are what I enjoy too. I don't feel comfortable in bright colors...I have alot of black in my wardrobe. Take care! ❤

Oh Sarah! The song bird skirt is perfect! You are right women should talk about it all. I have long finished menopause. But It can be hard if you think is this happening to anyone else? You look really lovely in the your hinterland dress, by the way. And thank you for sharing and chatting!❤ I hate the heat too. 🤎

Hallo Sara. I love your podcasfs and watching everyone of fhem. I am from Pretoria in South Africa. Perhaps you can translate handwerk perikelen with handcraft adventures or needlework adventures. For making dresses you kan perhaps translate the stikken to sewing. Alta ( when using your sewing machine).

This was a wonderful, encouraging episode, Sarah. Thank you. I'm watching this as I'm sewing library book bags for my granddaughters. I have been knitting all my life but have never knit a pair of socks. Rrecently I felt the need to learn how, and I'm using The Crazy Sock Lady's Vanilla Sock Pattern. There is a wonderful tutorial to go with it, and she makes it very easy to understand and follow along. They are top down socks. I'm almost finished with the first one and am looking forward to the second one so I can wear them. Then I'll learn how to make toe-up socks. They are much more fun to make than I had imagined, and I encourage anyone to give it a try. Happy Kintting, Sewing, and Crocheting!!

The skirt pattern made me smile. In the mid 70s that style was very popular ,although shorter, and I made several for myself .A friend asked if I would make her one, That was fine, but I was quite small and my friend was not fat, but a much taller so it took far longer to make.
In fashion, 'what goes around ,comes around'
On the subject of hormones, I have 2 granddaughters who live near me.One is 12 , the other 17 and somehow their cycles have coincided. Most of the time, I have 2 funny ,affectionate girls who love their family and love their Grandma. BUT for about 5 days every month it is like walking on eggshells in their house.
Hot weather and hormones are not a good cocktail at times.
Despite that, Sarah, it was still a very enjoyable video, as usual.

I love your Hinterland dress! I have the pattern and some fabric, but finding the space to cut it out is difficult! I will get to it soon. I also dont do well in the heat. I have Finnish (my dad is Finnish American) blood and I blame that for being a Winter Person. We had temperatures close to 100° last week and I stayed in the house in the air conditioning. I'm so glad you are making the Anchor Shawl in fingering weight! I am participating in a Shark Week knitting challenge and I have searched for a fingering weight shawl that I could complete in a week. I will be knitting an Anchor with you!

I have psoriasis on the bottom of my legs and even though I try not to be I am self-conscious 🙈
It’s really what other people say - sometimes they don’t think before they speak!

Real life.."dogs and kids". 😂 I never thought I could knit socks, but last year I saw a tutorial on socks by Very Pink Knits, Toe up, provisional cast on and German short rows. And I succeeded ! I've since made a few pairs of vanilla socks by the Crazy Sock Lady, both patterns are different, so it gives you a chance to decide what style you like to knit. I highly recommend both tutorials !! It's like sitting next to someone while they guide you through the process.
Dealing with monthly periods as you age is not a nice experience for some women. I had to have a full hysterectomy at age 37 because of severe endometriosis. I think it's a good thing women are prepared to talk about a once taboo subject, as it does affect your physical and mental health. ❤

Hello Sarah, we are very much enjoying your daily episodes. Of course it's a lot of work to do it in both Dutch and English, and balance your time with your house chores, crafting, and time with your family. Don't worry about the video editing, what we enjoy most is your chatting and stories -- just you sitting in front of the camera and talking. Your sewing muscle is really growing! Your lovely new Hinterland dress looks gorgeous on you. Question: Since you now own 6 Hinterland dresses, could you talk a bit more about your dresses. Did you just follow the pattern or made modifications to suit your body & taste?
