We learned about Fairhope and we love it, and we wanted to be near the beach. But our realtor found a 4 bedroom brick ranch with a big fenced yard in Foley. The price was much lower and it is close to downtown, not in a Subdivision. Pros and cons to that. Homeowners that really care about the upkeep of their homes and some that don’t. Fewer night spots and the town closes early, but Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are close and they stay open much later. I like it because it’s centrally located. Pensacola and Mobile are 45 minutes away.
Many native Alabamans but tons of upper midwesterners. Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin. A good mix.
If you’re from the northeast….probably not for you and I know. I grew up in NJ but then lived 30 years in Atlanta, so pretty easy for me.
Culturally, not a lot but Fairhope has more of those kind of things as well as Gulf shores and of course, Pensacola. But you get a small town feel. It depends if you want that.
You have to visit and make up your own mind and it’s easy to make friends if you’re willing to try. Like anywhere else.
Haha! Love the rant! We currently live in California and have 3 years left on our sentence here lol waiting for our youngest to finish high school and then we are escaping. We are super conservative and vote/live that way too. I grew up in a small town and wifey grew up in Eastern Europe. We were originally looking in Florida (and still are in all transparency) but we came across this area of Alabama through another couple who are also looking to escape California. We are intrigued! I think wifey and I will be making a trip to the area early next year to check it out.
Before you come to visit make sure to reach out so we can create an itinerary! Baldwin county is very big (larger than the State of Rhode Island) and can be overwhelming if not prepared! Sounds like you'll love it! 😁
I love living in foley. However that 10 mile drive to the beach has never taken me only 18min
Wishful thinking lol
We live in Gulf Shores. The drive to Foley, (Tanger Outlets 8.6 miles) is at least 25 minutes in the Summer.
Traffic sucks! @@BoydsofParadise
I welcome your “rant” and appreciate it.
Im in North Alabama me and my other half so wanna move to foley
You've come to the right place!😁
Nice job!
Thanks!
Great video as always!
Thank you!! 😁
Hey Friends. I'm enjoying your videos. I'm looking for a small acreage, 1 to 3 acres to build a home on. Prefer a place I can put a small trailer on while I build. Foley would be idea. Do you have a website or email where we could communicate in more detail?
Hey Tom! Yes, of course 😊

I heard that Foley has higher than normal crime and high insurance and utility costs. Is that true?
I guess it depends on what you consider to be "normal"
The national average
We wanna know who said this@@jimagent1826bc they're full of it!
@LivingInLowerAlabama a resident of Foley as a comment on another RUclips channel. I looked up the crime stats. The FBI, as of October 2023, had Foley as higher than the National Average at 116 versus 100. This was mostly due to property crime. They were lower than the national average on violent crime, which is good. I also looked up the cost of living, which was lower than the national average in every category except utilities, which was at 122. This was the reason for the question. I'm not knocking the area. Overall ratings are good.
I wish everyone did their due diligence like you!@@jimagent1826
Foley is OVERCROWDED and traffic is murder. It was a great place to live and now it SUCKS !!
We can help you move too !!😉
Love the area but I need to live very close to civilization as much as possible like Maryland, Washington D. C. or Northern Virginia.
This is where u go to get away from that lol maybe some day!!
Be professional. Take your sunglasses off
😂 The sun is so bright in Lower Alabama I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes open. Do the sunglasses make my video less informative? 😎
@@LivingInLowerAlabamanot at all. This guy must live in a cave. 😊
