"She seriously say gonorrhea?" > "King Ghidorah should be well-preserved - sea water's cold!"
Seawater also acts as an acid. So there's even no way King Ghidorah's body could even be preserved at the bottom of the ocean. The Titanic site has no dead bodies for the exact same reason.
So.... The scene between the businessman and Godzilla. I had a theory on that. As the guy was the last to see Godzilla, before the bomb, he felt a connection there. He felt remorse. "Yes. Yes, it's me. We messed up and you suffered for it. You can kill me, I understand. I am sorry." is what I thought.
That's pretty much the scene itself😂😂
when i watched this scene i had the impression shindo wanted godzilla to kill him. you even see him nod.
I always thought it was seppuku. He nodded to Godzilla and Godzilla helped him with it. You know, the old Samurai thing.
There's actually a pretty good fanfic about Shindo and Godzilla about how Shindo regrets just leaving the Godzillasaurus behind on Lagos and he accepts that he's one the people to blame for Godzilla's hatred toward humanity.
10:55 the Japanese guy and Godzilla saved each other in 1944, then Godzilla kills the every man who saved him in 1991.
Ironic, he can save others from death, but not himself.
Ghidorah was giving Godzilla a run for his money until the computer was destroyed thank you very much lol. All in all good review
Fun fact: This is one of the first Godzilla movies I saw as a kid. Not even kidding. Though I respect your opinion about it, it still holds a place in my heart as it has some nostalgic value.
Nostalgia is something I understand, and I can certainly enjoy this movie in a so-bad-it's-good way (couldn't have done the review otherwise).
Well at least you don't need to watch this one to continue with the Heisei films (ignoring the prologue of MechaGodzilla II, and Godzilla standing at 100 meters for the rest of the series that is).
You know, there's an interesting way that might fix a lot of issues. Not all of them, but some. And that's going with Tanaka's original idea for this Ghidorah's origins:
Originally the Dorats were created using the cells of a dead space monster found on Venus. IE, an alien King Ghidorah similar to the original Showa one. This is actually used in the novelization of the film. If this was indeed his origin, it provides an out: Emmy did agree with the plan of her fellow Futurians, but using King Ghidorah's cells in Ghidorah's genetic makeup backfires and Ghidorah goes out of their control to the point it would destroy everything in its path like its genetic parent. They can't go back in time to fix this because now they exist in the past and can't overlap with themselves. Thus the need to make Godzilla AND Emmy's sudden turn: she was fine using Ghidorah as a threat to force Japan into not becoming the biggest superpower and maybe causing some small destruction to hammer in the point of how strong he is, but none of the Futurians wanted this.
That wouldn't fix everything, but it would make Emmy more sympathetic and remove some of its unfortunate implications.
That kinda reminds me of how Emma's plan went off the rails in KOTM.
Regardless, I definitely like this idea a whole lot better.
Duane Eddy
1991: The movie cuts from a fight between Godzilla and King Ghidorah to focus on the human characters doing things to advance the plot. No one bats an eye.
2019: The movie cuts from a fight between Godzilla and King Ghidorah to focus on the human characters doing things to advance the plot. Everyone loses their minds.
Jurassickaiju14 yep it's honestly annoying keep saying "the fights of 2019 have so many cutaways" when the toho movies have been no different.
@KaijusaurusG2K In all fairness, even when the Toho movies cut away, the monster scenes still go on for much longer at a time.
Godzilla vs King Ghidorah is one of my favorites since it’s the first Godzilla movie I can remember ever watching all the way through. It through me into the fandom for life. It still remains up there for nostalgic reasons, but this review makes a lot of sense and has me rethinking the caliber of this movie lol
Time travel should never exist in a Godzilla movie.
I have yet to encounter a time travel story that doesn't have at least one plot hole, but for there to be this many problems...the mind just boggles.
Thanks to that trilogy of videos I have come to call this movie the Godzilla Paradox
Time travel could work in a Godzilla movie it's just that this movie did it horribly
Funny that terminator 2 and Godzilla vs king ghidorah came out the same year.
This movie falls in to the Its So Bad its Awesome Pile. Fun to Riff on it anyway....
Emmy is one of the hottest female characters in the Godzilla franchise.
what was altered in the timeline was that godzilla got the power from the nuclear submarine, and that cured him from the anti nuclear energy bacteria, thus allowing him to continue his destruction that he started in Godzilla vs biollante.
Also it was not a stable time loop, it was that godzilla still turned into godzilla, but instead of turning into godzilla from the atomic bomb on the island, he turned into godzilla from a nuclear submarine, and all the events in godzilla 1984 and vs biollante still happened exactly as before, but what changed was like what I said earlier, was that the submarine filled with multiple powerful nuclear missiles gave godzilla power and cured him from the anti nuclear energy bacteria, thus changing time, until mecha king ghidorah stopped godzilla and kept him in the ocean until an asteroid woke him up in 1992, and then again he was stopped.
"I'm spinning!"
At least Anakin Skywalker's line made more sense than this.
wait a minute the Earth Union has time travel tech, yet They can't defeat Future Japan.
Perhaps they see the use of time travel as immoral and far too dangerous to use?
@@megalodon7916 But weren't the time travellers agents of Earth Union.
No, they stole it from them.
@@megalodon7916 Well no wonder future Japan rules the world, the earth Union are idiots.
Pretty much.
My rewrite, gonna be splitting it into parts due to the word limit, check the previous two parts on the first parts of this review
Act 3
With both monsters convinced, Mothra heals them and they all headed to Japan to defeat the 3 sadistic beasts. Shindo and his team then go to the Bio Major base where Miki is being held. They brake in, letting Jet lead the way in fighting through the guards. They managed to rescue Miki, yet Emmy leaves the group behind to draw the attention of the guards so her comrades can get out alive.
Eventually Emmy is gunned down by Glenchico, and in her dying moments they share a final moment, Glenchico giving a look of regret and Emmy giving a look of forgiveness. The group then give a moment of silence for Emmy in their fleeing helicopter as they travel to where the monsters are converging.
The monster trio of Godzilla, Anguirus and Mothra arrive at Hokkaido to witness King Ghidorah, Ghiuron and Ghiyunian seemingly enjoying themselves killing the wildlife and destroying the area. Godzilla roars out to the three. King Ghidorah seeming to recognise this creature roars back and spreading his wings out in a form of intimidation, and with that the battle commenced.
The battle ground was a circus, Godzilla, Mothra and Ghidorah firing they beam attacks across the area, causing explosions to surround the area, Ghiuron striking her opponents from the air and Ghiyunian carefully targeting his ramming attacks. The human spectators took note of how only Ghidorah's middle head is showing consciousness and the metalic device on top fused to it. Then Miki realised what Glenchico said earlier.
They all realise that the middle head used the device that is now fused to his head to fully control the other two heads. Realising this Miki requested the helicopter to land and told her teammates her plan. As this was happening Ghidorah and his teammates were winning the battle, Ghiuron and Ghiyunian pinning Mothra and Anguirus down respectively, all the while Ghidorah wrapped his 3 necks around Godzilla and began suffocating his enemy.
Just as Godzilla was about to lose conscieness two of the neck fell limp, the middle head confused checked what was going on and was shocked to see the other two heads moving about on their own free will, before he could use the device on them again Jet Jaguar fired a laser from his hand to destroy it completely. The team congratulated Miki to use her telepathic abilities to awaken the other two heads.
As the other two heads were snapping at the middle head for essentially imprisoning them Godzilla used this opportunity to use his nuclear pulse to get Ghidorah off him. He then fired his atomic breath at Ghiuron and Ghiyunian to free his allies and they quickly formed a quick attack plan.
As Ghidorah was getting up Mothra flew towards him carrying Anguirus curled up into a spikey ball, she then threw Anguirus at the middle neck and sped towards Ghidorah, using her wing like a blade on his neck, adding to the damage. Godzilla then fired his atomic breath at the neck severing it.
What remained of Ghidorah rolled around in pain and tried to fly away, only for Godzilla to fire his atomic breath at one of the wings, while Mothra fired her Antenna Beams at the other wing, and with both wings shredded Ghidorah plummeted down into the ocean.
Ghiyunian and Ghiuron soon got afterwards, more than willing to continue the fight, Shindo however, brought out the two remaining sealing statues and held them out towards both monsters, the magic working and both monsters being sealed away. After this was done, the statues took on the likeness of Ghiuron and Ghiyunian, much like the statue Ghidorah sealed was in resembled him.
The greatest cost of this however was that it costed Shindo his life, much like legends say the unknown person who sealed Ghidorah away had died doing the same thing. Godzilla looked down at the deceased man who saved him all those years ago and gave a gentle roar. Godzilla and Anguirus then decided to head out to see together, having gained respect for one another.
Mothra then grabbed the two statues in her mandibles, Lora and Moll translating Mothra would place them in the artic so they could never be reached and unleashed. And so the team of humans watched as all 3 monsters headed out to their respective destinations having left victorious.
I honestly don't understand why fans considered this movie to be one of the absolute best films within the franchise. Sure the monster scenes are good and there is a decent cast of characters but there has never been a movie that completely fucked over the continuity of Godzilla (1954) harder than this!
Godzilla X Megaguirus came close when it chose to remove the Dr. Serizawa subplot from its timeline, which had quite an effect on the rest of the film...but that's a video for later.
Omni Viewer But at least that was just a simple what if plot.
Xavier Productions not really the Godzilla in this film is completely different from the original in fact even if they got rid of the dinosaur on Lagos that wouldn't get rid of the original Godzilla this explains how they remember Godzilla of course Spacegodzilla later screws that up by mentioning Biollante but what can you do?
Xtra Product I think people hold it in high regard because James Rolfe said it was one of the best
3:55 Actually, the 54 and 91 Godzilla are different creatures. The whole time travel thing only started the heisei series, creating the 84 Godzilla. The original is still the creature who was awoken and slightly mutated by the atomic bomb testings and died in 1954
I absolutely agree with you!
GvKG is one of my least favorite Godzilla movies as well.
I don't understand why people like this one.
It's definitely my least favorite Heisei era movie.
Okay, I don't know if others really saw this, but when in the last shot of the movie when wakes up, when he raises his hand he kinda does the Spock Peace sign, which I find funny.
Well, Godzilla does have pointy ears...
Omni Viewer Ha, your right. Plus, I think he trying to say, "Peace out Japan and viewers, I'll be back."
My admittedly hacky plot patch for this film (which I first saw in the late 90s on a rogue VHS), is that the plot was meant to explain why the Heisei series exists INSTEAD OF the Showa series. The plotting is still horribly buggy, but it explains why the Futurian leader was expecting Godzilla to protect Japan and why he's surprised (but pleased to see) Godzilla is much larger and more hostile.
So, kind of like X-Men: Days of Future Past, but with kaiju instead of superheroes. I could see that working. It would certainly be better than the current film.
Of course the best part about the film, hands down, is that it sets up for Heisei's GvMechaG. Easily my favorite of the Heisei Era, with GvMothra and GvDest not far behind (though vDest is just about indisputably the superior film per se.)
The Red October made Godzilla, thats why we couldn't find it, we just found Legendary Godzilla
Great Video Omni!
I'm glad you explained that I was worried I couldn't understand the plot of a godzilla movie

The "I spinning" line and "Make My Day" line are not in the Japanese language version. They were added in the English Translation.
unclepatrick2 the make my day line was in the Japanese version, it was even said in English
5:20 LMFAO thats hilarious
There is a way that the time travel plot actually can fit with what we see with Godzilla. I don't actually believe the movie was going for this although it would have made for a better story but it would also have required a level of savvy and awareness that Psychic Miki never seemed to have: What we see with Godzilla and the Lagos dinosaur makes sense IF Tersawa was wrong. IF the Lagos Dinosaur was NOT the creature they knew as Godzilla and originally the dinosaur did die of its injuries, then Godzilla as seen in Godzilla 1984 and in Godzilla VS Biollante was, infact killed or neutralized by the antinuclear bacteria.
By moving the Lagos Dinosaur, the Futurians created a completely new Godzilla.
Here's the problem: As you point out, Miki says that she's SURE the dinosaur is Godzilla. IF I could only believe that Miki was aware and savvy enough to have been lying... IF I believed that the psychic girl sensed something was wrong with Emmy or one of her compatriots and deliberately lied it would have been a great move. But while it could solve the time travel problems by creating a stable time loop >>> New Godzilla appears in 1991... Fights other monsters in coming years such as Space Godzilla and Destroyah... Futurians want to eliminate Godzilla as Japan's apparent 'protector' >>> Futurians move Dinosaur that was NOT the original Godzilla and thus creating the New Godzilla...
It would make Miki a more complex character as well but I don't think that she is that character to lie because it was what was needed. I wish I did
YOU DONT GET THE FUTURE PEOPLE THOUGHT THE 1954 GOJI AND THE HESEI ONE WERE THE SAME WHICH THERTE NOT AND THATS WHY EVERYONE STILL REMEMBERS HIM
Well what’s made even worse is that Japan does have weapons that can be used against Godzilla. Remember the cadmium missiles from return of Godzilla? They never specified that the JSDF or the Japanese government ran out of the item. So for them to suddenly stop using them is absolute stupidity. Also it would be extremely dumb for them not to mass produce those weapons and have defensive measures on standby in the event of a Godzilla attack.

Great review er a roast! lol
I would like to see what your ranking of the Godzilla movies.
As terribly flawed as this movie is, I still have a soft spot for it. It's definitely a HUGE guilty pleasure of mine! This was one of the first Godzilla movies I ever saw (I'm not sure if this was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw, but it's definitely the first one I saw with King Ghidorah). While the plot has more holes than Swiss cheese, I will say that it does work fairly well as a standalone movie, in the sense that you don't need a whole lot of prior knowledge on Godzilla in order to watch it. This was the main reason why I liked watching this movie multiple times as a kid (In fact, out of all the Godzilla movies I've seen, GvsKG is the one I've seen the most amount of times). Ignoring the confusing and contradicting time travel aspect, I still enjoy watching GvsKG in that "So Bad, It's Good" kind of way. Even when the monsters aren't on screen, it never feels boring. The goofy sci-fi moments with the humans are delightfully stupid. I also just wanna say that the big fight between Godzilla and Ghidorah is easily one of my all-time favorite movie fight scenes. It left such a huge impression on me as a kid (Especially seeing Godzilla blast one of Ghidorah's heads off with his atomic breath!) and forever made me a long-time Godzilla fan. ;)
Thanks for the links omni viewer great video
Next time, the parts go up in order.

+Omni Viewer Exactly as you said, when I was a kid I was Blown Away by the Mecha King Ghidorah action figure. I had a VHS of Godzilla vs Biollante by this time I think, but I thought it was the last one until these toys and G-Fan opened up a new world for me. And this movie was hyped up so much, and then it just couldn't live up to the hype. It took all the scariness and majesty out of Ghidorah. Especially after seeing the Dorats. MechaGodzilla also fell short in my young eyes, but I loved Godzilla & Mothra, and especially vs Destroyah. Still every movie in that era made some great goddam toys!
@STEVE LE I think he means the movie
want one of these to rip apart? Godzilla Raids Again. Everyone has their favorite film, mine happens to be a tie between VS the Sea Monster and Biolante.
Godzilla Raids Again is an underrated underappreciated gem
Amazing review! What Godzilla movie do you plan on adding to your Atomic Roasts next?
I have a couple in mind. Godzilla's Revenge, Godzilla X Megaguirus, and Godzilla vs. Hedorah are definitely on the chopping block. I just haven't decided what order I'll do them in yet.
@@omniviewer2115 What about Godzilla and Mothra: Battle for Earth? I believe you mentioned something about "getting to that one eventually", and you more or less covered Hedorah and Megaguirus in a couple of your more recent reviews.
So if I get this right, this movie about giant radiation monsters has things that don't make sense?
If you think about it the timeline did change because of what was left of mechaking gidorah They create mechagodzilla who almost defeats Godzilla until he absorbs rodan and then later the event of Godzilla vs destrah happen so Godzilla dies
The 'I'm spinning' line could have been cured with a slightly better writing: the pilot only needed to mentioned the air turbulence in Ghidorah's flight slipstream causing a flameout.
So did the Hindenburg explode a year earlier in that timeline
or a script mistake?
In addition to that idea, there is another one requiring less fiddling to work: Emmy believed King Ghidorah would be a Sword of Damocles. IE, telling Japan 'don't get so high and mighty because now this thing is looming over your heads and will stop you if you begin to rapidly outpace the other nations'. The reason she changes her mind being realizing that's now how her partners intend to use Ghidorah, but rather they intend to use him to wipe Japan out and rebuild it from scratch because they believe that is the only way to achieve their goal. Perhaps adding a few lines of Emmy stating she still doesn't want Japan to become that global superpower, but doesn't want it wiped out either.
Just some ideas.
So. . . when are you gonna get to the Godzilla vs. Mothra review?
I mean. . . there's no rush. . .
The Secret Super Submarine is a Japanese Urban Myth that has appeared in both Science Fiction Novels and Magna and Anime. It the same as the US having Aliens flying saucers at Area 51.
You know, it can be a fairly easy way to fix the plot holes, the Future people come to stop Godzilla who doesn't destroy Japan but leaves it to where it's not as advanced as the rest of the world and needs aid from the Earth Union so the future people come back to prevent Godzilla from appearing and get Miki Seagusa to identify if the dinosaur is Godzilla, finding out that there was at least two dinosaurs, one of them becoming the original Godzilla from 1954, which will die anyway but it'll solve the problem of people remembering Godzilla, to a point but better than what we got, but the Americans are actually terrorists who want to prevent the earth union from forming and creates King Ghidorah, makes more sense than what we got at least
That would certainly have made more sense than what we got.
wolfmantheimpaler the dinosaur in Lagos island isn't the original Godzilla though it's the Heise Godzilla.
So which film do you think is worse? Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991) or Godzilla: The Planet Eater (2019)?
Godzilla the planet eater easily
@@Godzilla-jr5gi Literally, *anything* is better than the entire trilogy.

This is one of my least favorite Godzilla films, but I still love it, because Godzilla and because King Ghidorah.
They are undeniably the best parts of the film.
Well, seeing the Terminator, I mean M-11 run is at least one of the highlights of the film.
In Shindo’s defense, Japan has the 3 Non-Nuclear Principles, which forbids them from owning and/or harboring nuclear weapons. That’s probably why he hid it in another country. Just sayin’.

I suspect the reason this is sometimes cited as a favorite is Mecha Ghidorah's presence. The concept doesn't show up in any other movie, and while it doesn't do anything for me I can see where it might be really appealing to others, enough so to excuse the film's numerous other flaws. I have the same issue with Space Godzilla - objectively the film's only okay, but SpaceG is one of my favorite kaiju designs ever and bumps the whole movie up into my personal Top Three just for being there. Unless Toho comes out with (say) Orga & Space Godzilla vs Godzilla that's not likely to change. :)
I think the biggest reason is because the whole origin story thing, but yeah mechanics king ghidorah is pretty awsome
can't say the same for the script thou
orga deserves a comeback so badly
This is kind of why I'm starting to rally hate time travel based movies. They set a rule and then break it first chance they get. Time travel by it's very nature debunks itself so the story is forced to come up with it's own rules that if you don't follow cause a shit load of problems.
11:19
I have similar problems with Godzilla vs Monster Zero, a deeply insulting and stupid movie. Except for the jingoism part, actually I'm in strong agreement with Monster Zero's basic message, but only a hopeless ideologue would enjoy a movie for those kinds of reasons.
Please, enlighten me as to why Invasion of Astro-Monster, one of the best films in the Showa Era, is bad.
