Some years ago I went to Paraguay, close to the Brazilian borderline cities Ciudad del Este/Foz de Iguacu, which are basically a huge mall! Most of the salesmen were Lebanese and Syrian, all the shopping centers had arab names and falafels/shawarmas/kippes were common to see in most restaurants and street vendors. I remember there was a very popular huge restaurant called Rafain, where brazilian steak was popular food option (rodizio).

When the Lebanese first arrived the Brazilians mistook them for Turks so even today some people call them “the Turks” even though some of them don’t like it. But in general I think there was a great integration, nowadays we can’t even tell who has Lebanese descent or not, if you don’t check by the surname. In the last presidential elections we had a candidate with Lebanese descent. Nice to hear you speak Portuguese btw! Very good!
