    Usually, one can watch shoulders and elbows... but with this, even a flick of the wrist can inflict a lot of damage --- and there is no way to react in time. The stick has a lot of reach too. I have no clue how one defends against this (other than run). Awesome martial art.

    I do like that they return the "sword" along the line of the original strike, but its a rather flowery form of fighting. Many useful tools no doubt, but given that he doesn't emphasize the importance of the center as Musashi did I do feel that the methodology behind his training is not nearly as efficient as the late samurais.

    • @ZeroFucksLeft
      @ZeroFucksLeft 7 месяцев назад

      He also doesn't emphasize (at least in the footage you've shared) the importance of targeting the hand/wrist/ arm of your opponents weapon hand in a fight with melee weapons.
      I'd say to level up someone as fast as possible when it comes to any kind of combat but especially combat with melee weapons, you must start them off with center line attacks and a focus on controlling the arm/s of your opponent.

Take 3 months off and do Tai Chi, or maybe pick up fencing, something completely different. None of it matters, but it's just another fun physical activity that your body will enjoy doing. Tai Chi though was a blast, look up your closest school.

However that being said kali isnt perfect and i stress doing live drills and respecting and acknowledge what works and what doesn't unfortunately there was a kali master at least thats what they claim maybe just a normal black belt who knows but he was stabbed to death during a robbery i dont know if he had a weapon on him but id assume he did.

      It’s not chaotic at all. The FMA dude blocks a huge percentage of the hits, hits Jeff a lot and is in full control. Not being able to see the subtleties, is not the same as it being chaotic. But of course a point fighting match with two of similar skill set will look chaotic. Not weird at all, as it the most points that wins. It becomes super fast. Remove the protection and change the rules to a fight where you can allow tko/Ko incorporate dumog, panantukan, sikaran, kadena, they will change the tactics 100%
      There are reasons why such competitions are very rare and possibly illegal, though.
