This gave me an appreciation for the stunt coordination because most of the audience can see how they made Moon Knight and Mr Knight's fight styles different but you guys broke it down into smaller details to really highlight the work done there. Steven as Mr Knight only just leveled up in his fighting skills by being able to pull from Marc's experience, plus Steven is staunchly against truly hurting anyone (and is vehemently against killing). So things like those blocks and attacks which weren't the platonic ideal from a fighting perspective make 100% sense from a character perspective. Even the one you point out which risked hurting his hand is perfect characterization since MK infamously prefers to take a blow rather than dodge it (which you can see the stunt coordinators remembered in other fights as well, like the one in episode 3 when Moon Knight lets himself be stabbed so that the weapon goes through him and hits the attacker behind him). I absolutely love these kinds of detailed breakdowns and agree that Moon Knight is the best of the D+ series so far, so thank you for the insights in this video!
We told you we aren't going to stop doing full length breakdowns! Shorts are just going to be uploaded in between longer breakdowns. The team is starting to get into a groove, so you can expect longer breakdowns more frequently while weekly RUclips shorts remain on schedule. With that being said, this is our first double stick breakdown so this was a fun one for Logan. As always, make sure to subscribe, share and let us know which fight scene we should breakdown next! Also, Did you enjoy Moon Knight?
Speaking of Sinawali (I hope I spelled it right) theres a ton of it done by the character Gannicus in the show Spartacus, only he's doing it with swords lol
Glad to see a full video. The breakdowns are flowing quick and are humorous too. Keep beating up Chad, I really enjoyed this breakdown. I'm curious if the director wanted inferior roof blocks so the audience could follow better. A step away glace off roof block may come across as a swing in miss and appear "sloppy" on camera.
I think we have to take into account certain aspects depending on the show or film's lore and context. Like the initial punyo strike WOULD be a fight finisher for Moon Knight or Mr. Knight because he/they have a pretty high level of superhuman strength, as we see when he can jump 40 feet and kick Harrow through buildings and stuff. So a superman jab to the throat with a metal rod would probably crush that guy's windpipe into juice. But as you pointed out at the end, you weren't taking into account his powers and only were speaking on the actual technique so this comment is kinda pointless, but I love chatting with you guys regardless. Amazing breakdown as always. Poor Chad's face.
Honestly, one of my favorite aspects of this show is they do acknowledge that in the fiction superpowers exist and could change context, but that they're rating on "real world" application. It's nice seeing it acknowledged instead of being a constant point of complaint because a super powered person incorporates superpowers into their fighting.
@@Deliriumend 100%. Chad and Logan and now Pak(the Judo Black Belt) are all amazingly skilled and now how to explain things in detail. And they're all big enough comic fans that they can blend the reality with the fantasy and fiction. It's a crime their channel isn't 10x bigger than it is by now. I'd subscribe more if I could lol.
Okay but if a stab with a metal pipe could end a guys throat then a hit to the hand would break the guys wrist and he would drop the weapon. They show his strength in different ways the elite jumpers can jump 4-5 feet, 40 feet is 8 times the strength of those elite people so if he hit him with a metal bar theirs a good chance that every hit would be a ender.
I haven't watched the show in a while so maybe im wrong and should be corrected but Mr knight also doesn't try to kill in the show, as it's Steven fighting, i think his goal was just needing to get to harrow. Marc on the other hand probably would have done more finishing blows if he was in this fight sequence, not after
@@LordMorpheus This is also correct. Steven is mainly a pacifist on account of he's the "kind" personality, but he can throw down. And when he does as Mr. Knight, he is easily the least lethal between him, Marc, and Jake.
Incredible! I was hoping that a professional would break down the FMA in Moon Knight, and this video and the explanations were done beautifully. Thank you both for it all!
I really like how this breakdown helps emphasize the Character they're working with, how he can get away with an Inferior Roof Block that wouldn't work "Unless you're super powered" or how his instinct is to fight defensively even if it's not optimal, also how non finishing moves become finishers because of his superior strength. Thanks for the breakdown, love your vids and always glad to see you guys.
As a guy who is trained with Escrima I loved seeing this and funny enough didn't know that stabbing was called Ponyo also, and seeing this was a lot of fun. Excited to see more!
Chad getting the full Kali treatment was hilarious. Great breakdown as usual. Especially as this sequence is so short and packed with great moves. Looking forward for Chad's "revenge" in the future.
I agree with your assertion @4:50, but I honestly think that his choice communicated more about the character. At this stage, he was still evolving as a combatant; learning to accept his power while also letting go of the fear of violent engagement. This is an important aspect of the arts in Martial Arts as well; letting the character or essence of the individual shine through. Great breakdown as always
I'm not saying Chad got beaten up too much, all I'm saying is he'll be afraid of brown pool noodles for the rest of his life. I'm with you, Logan, they did pretty good justice to the comics (and they filmed most of the season within 30 miles of where I live, so that gave me an extra reason to fanboy over it). Marvel has teased a second season on twitter since then and the crew and cast seems eager to continue with it, so... fingers crossed!
after finishing the vid i’m actually surprised how grounded the action piece is. even though mr knight is a super human he is not pulling off crazy shenanigans what not, that’s amazing
You know, I'm starting to think that the main purpose of this channel is for Logan to take out some frustration on Chad. And whenever it comes to grappling, Chad gets some retribution. :-)
I think one of the main things that makes moon Knight so interesting, is how during fight scenes, he leans more into the attacker because he knows that he'll heal because of the suit. This gives him more freedom to "beat up" the other person because he one less thing to worry about. I really enjoy your videos and how they break down each move in the fight
RIP Chad this has been the ninth video of you getting beat up by logan(or Pak) since you last choke logan. Seems that the team have found the secret to views and I definitely agree with them. Your expression when getting beat up is absolutely hilarious!! Please keep that up!!(I mean chad being beaten, not the expression. Well maybe the expression too)
_A:SD_:ASD I actually started laughing out loud when Logan slammed Chad to the face at the end of Breakdown 2 If I ever give up strength-training at the level I currently am, I would *love* to learn something like Filipino martial arts, like Kali
Recently rewatched Lethal Weapon, the ending fight actually has fair amount of BJJ, 6 years before UFC 1. It’d be great if Chad broke down Mel Gibson’s triangle finish!
Great breakdown as always. Lots of great insight. Moon Knight for me was a show with high highs and low lows but enjoyed it overall. Love the “I’m still a nerd but older” line haha.
You know, watching your breakdown of dual weapon kali techniques makes me wonder how effectively it could be applied to dual lightsaber fighting, given the forms of combat already in star wars for lightsabers itd need to be a new form but it would be hard to deal with

But impressive coolest video of Mr knight’s Kali stick combat skills. And feeling so sorry for Chad being a testable subject punching bag

I wouldn't have gone for the knee, unless I had a mace, or a bladed weapon. I think that the ellbow would have been a better target (if you can't reach the head)
Can you guys get a HEMA and Kenjutsu expert to analyze some sword fighting techniques from games like For Honor, Hellish Quart or Ghost of Tsushima please?
Literally just found your channel about 30 seconds ago and you already have a new sub. Great fight analysis!! Would love to see you cover some fight scenes of Jeeja Yanin from a Thailand martial arts film Chocolate (2008). Also some Marvel Netflix's Daredevil hallway scene would be a cool breakdown.
Sad to say I was hoping for a second season as well only to have to accept that the solid first season is all there was and will be. Hopefully, though, they incorporate Moon Knight in the MCU movies at some point. He definitely deserves that much at the very least.
That Punyo strike that you said wasn't a finisher is most definitely a finisher coming from him, he has superhuman strength. But we could also take someone out with a Kali/Eskrima stick with that Punyo strike. It was a blow directly to the jaw with momentum. That could be an instant nap.
Your technical expertise and attention to detail are quite impressive. My experience is not in Kali, but I see the truth in your explanations, and agree with your analysis. Lord help the fool that faces you when you're holding two short swords🤠. Try not to bash Chad too much (maybe just a little though 😂). Great video.
Love how eager Logan gets to beat up Chad since, lets be honest, there's far more hand to hand fight scenes in movies and shows than melee weapons (that don't require the power of "anime" or hollywood JUST to wield).
