Your video is amazing. I just got my potters wheel and I am going back to pottery after 15 years. Your video is amazing and very informative. It has helped me a lot.
HI! beautiful video. I like the little shelves for the small pieces but then you added a bunch of glazed pieces piled up..how does that work without clumping and sticking together... was it a different kind of glaze?
thank you for this, I was so lost and confused about the basics of this haha but you cleared it up! your video is so calming and love the pieces by the way , you earned a new subscriber !! xx
i really like this videos like that. Because i learn about pottery and i really want to do home studio like you. I hope you can make a lots of video like that more and more
I love how you live in the middle of the city and fire in your bathroom. You learn to make do with whatever space you have. Congrats, that’s so awesome!
thanks very much! there are definitely limitations - like not being able to glaze and fire bigger pieces, but it's a good start for a hobbyist potter :)
i am usually home when i fire, just for safety purposes. however, as it is a digital electric kiln, i don't need to watch over and adjust the kiln like you would need to with a gas kiln.
Hi Audrey, congratulations on your videos and your beautiful pottery. Can you please share hat kind of wire you used in this video, is there other wire you recommend besides the one you use. Thank you so much for sharing, I hope to see more of your work. Sincerely, ilse Angel from Texas.
i fire with an Olympic MAS129E and throw on a Shimpo VL lite! i've just uploaded a video on tips to set up a kiln at home, do watch it if you are interested!
yup its single firing/ raw glazing. i've not tried it but it is possible. a lot of precautions to take in ensuring the clay is completely bone dry before glazing and firing. from what i heard, some glazes don't take well to single firing because the organic matter in the clay does not burn out completely and reacts with the glaze and more likely to cause problems like pinholing, crazing, running. i know mayco's stroke and coat glaze series is specially formulated just for single firing though!
omg it's so adorable! should follow your channal :3 have one question about the kiln. Could it be possible to let me know the model of product? Also, some material of kiln or glaze(釉藥). coulour looks so nice
thank you :) it's an Olympic MAS129E, and i got it from clay-king.com (if you are based in the states). the glazes you see here are mostly from mayco stroke and coat series!

Do please install a carbon monoxide detector near the kiln. Firing in the house and sleeping is pretty dangerous, although you vent with a system and/or windows
@@nikitamorrison2528 it uses a nema 5-20 plug. many apartments have this outlet, usually in the kitchen and bathrooms where they are more likely to be 20 amp and above. see link for image of the outlet: cableflux.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/p104784d.jpg
@@AudreyCCeramics also for the stilts, my studio told us that we shouldn't put peices on them bc they may form together. Have you ever dealt with stilt pieces sticking together? Second question: do you think it's safe to leave kiln in open area, I have a studio so wondering if this small enough for me to not worry about?
@@nikitamorrison2528 i used to use stilts for firing half-drilled beads and yes i do sometimes experience them sticking onto the stilts if i apply glaze too thickly. i've since made my own stilts with clay and thinner kanthal wire and when i glaze i minimise them especially around the holes. as long as glazes do not touch the stilts, they do not stick. i do not recommend leaving the kiln in an outdoor area as it will be subjected to elements like rain/ cold weather etc which will age the kiln prematurely. unless it is a sheltered area relatively away from these elements, then that's fine
Hi Audrey! I'm happy I found your channel and I love your videos! Just 2 month ago I bought a small, 40l kiln and my first firing was a success. But I am hesitant to do the second glaze firing because I am scared of the hazardous Gases. Do you think I could do it in my kitchen with closed doors and wide open windows? Greetings from Germany Mai
congrats on your first firing! 40 litre sounds like a mid-sized kiln. i would encourage you to get a vent for that since the gases may be quite substantial. is there a possibility to do the firing outdoors? if not i think it's possible to do a closed room firing with open windows, but try to minimise entering the room for the first few hours. kitchen might not be a great idea since it's also where you cook :/
Thank you for your answer it helps a lot. My manual says I shouldn't use it outside, so I won't. I think I will maybe use it in the bathroom with the windows open then.
Please continue your journey. Your narration is almost ASMR in its delivery.
I am a beginner potter too. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing.
I have no idea how I ended up here because I don't even make pottery, but this was such a soothing and mesmerizing video.

Beautiful work! Do you use the olympic MAS129E kiln? I'm wondering which small kiln I should get for my hobbies.
Hello!!I LOVE your videos. Wish you had more!!:). Just wondering if you input a preheat time on your glaze firings?
Do you have to be there during firing or is it safe to go out and let them run by its own?

Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
which kiln are you using? where can I buy it?
Oh my God, this is so cool! How much did you pay for this beautiful kiln? I am looking for one about the size of yours :)
i am in the US and got this on clay king: www.clay-king.com/kilns/olympic_kilns/medallion_kilns/olympic-mas129e.html
Hi from Malaysia, hope to see more of your video.

Beautiful! Those mugs are really nice. I love the white glaze that covers the blue and the green glazes. Would you share your recipe?
hi ann, thank you! i use commercial mayco glazes. those are from the stroke and coat range.
@@AudreyCCeramics Thanks.
your voice is so soft ;-;
And how can i know how much hours the firing can take? For the first and the second

hi ilse, not sure if i got your question correctly - do you mean the wiring plug for the kiln?
Well done!
thanks!
Can you please link the website for the kiln

Can you link what kiln you have? And what wheel if you have one? Thanks!😊

do you know what cone you bisque clay at and what cone do you go to for the glaze?
i bisque at 04 and glaze at cone 6 at home

yes! i do have one near the kiln when i fire. thanks for the tip :)
Can this fire larger pieces such a salad bowl or vases (height over 6 inches)?
this kiln is an olympic medallion MAS129E and measures 11.25 in (diameter) * 9 in (height) so yes it can fire bigger pieces but 1 at a time!
