    Your pair of hands can cook,can bake,can make plate,can build shelf & play cello !
    What else you can't accomplish ?
    You're really good in everything.
    All the work you had produced are so delicate.

This channel teaches me to pay attention to process and the rest will follow :)))

      Most universities have classes in making pottery, in the arts department. I remember taking the class many decades ago. I liked the old fashioned kick wheel, not an electric powered one. In an empty peaceful pottery room, with the silence and the rhythm of the kickwheel controlled by one's own energy, it was like meditation.

    I'm reminded of how pottery class always stereotyped as some boring couple activity, but this looks like really satisfying work. I really like to look of these plates, but I'd imagine they're not cheap, don't know if making them yourself is any cheaper or if it's just for the personal touch.

    • @fishbonesinc
      @fishbonesinc 8 лет назад +2

      Bobby White
      Luckily I'm not in great need of vases, would you say it would cause a problem for a bowl though?

    • @bobbywhite5319
      @bobbywhite5319 8 лет назад +7

      Hmm, depends on how deep the bowl will be. If beginners try to make a big salad bowl, you'll be in for a challenge. Start small, but the most challenging part of ceramics is centering. Even after you pat down the clay as round as you can, it will never be centered which is why you need to do that.

    Beautiful work! Though I must admit, I'm a bit jealous of your little glaze ladle for painting the clay. When I took ceramics at my school, it was so messy with the glaze and it was difficult getting the stuff out of your nails even when you love working with clay! Great job, and you got a tasty-looking salad on top of that, too! ^^

    "Yes! I trust you chap. This is going to be a beautiful plate."
    and then that parting away with satisfied look, you both had. :-)

    You know you're good at turning when the only way you can tell the wheel is on is by the square piece of wood that's spinning furiously below the plate

    Hi Peaceful Cuisine. Your plates are beautiful. You are very talented. I am making some pottery , not functional pots and not on wheel. Thanks for giving recipe of clay and mica. I am wondering how you prepare your natural ash glaze. Do you only use ash or add some more ingredients? Lots of love from İzmir, Turkey.

      What's the purpose of the mica, please? First I thought you added it for the glitter, but since you covered it in white slip, I suppose it adds some desirable property to the clay body?
