My dog might not be Royalty but the little mutt is treated like a prince. I cook for him weekly. This week’s menu is Ground turkey, chicken liver, peas, carrots and pumpkin. I’m not only his chef but also his chauffeur, maid, butler, trainer, gardener, bodyguard, photographer, accountant, nurse, masseuse and occasional hairstylist. He’s almost 13 now but he’s still my much loved puppy; just slower and with sophisticated gray hair.
My dog was fed minced beef with rice and peas or veg most days. Sometimes she had tinned sardines and sometimes poached white fish (only the cheap frozen sort). She had a carrot every day and loved raw broccoli. She lived to age 20 bless her heart. Miss her so much.

Chef McGrady is such a fantastic storyteller. 👍 Haven't thought about the Royal Corgis in ages but this reminded me of the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony with the Queen, her corgis and 007 James Bond. 😀
You made me cry again, talking about the Queen and her dogs and the photos of you carrying them. Thank you for sharing such lovely snippets about them. My dogs eat freshly cooked food - chicken, eggs (hard boiled, soft boiled or scrambled), gizzard, liver, fish, beef, ox lungs, cabbage, carrots, spinach, pumpkin and plain yoghurt. They're rotated. The meat and veg are diced too, to make sure there are to bones.

“the corgi room” it’s not like I didn’t expect the queen to have the space and funds for an entire room for corgies, but hearing it said so casually really throws you off
Having two Welsh Pembroke Corgis I know what they like to eat. They love cheese but they don’t get that except as a small treat. I routinely cook a “meat loaf” consisting of 1kg chicken, Turkey or beef mince combined with a cup of Rolland oats soaked in milk, a couple of eggs, a cup or two of riced mixed vegetables such as green beans, sweet potato, corn, peas and carrot and zucchini. I bake this mixture in the oven and slice it and dice it. The dogs love it. I have done the meat with rice and vege and they don’t love that as much. The other thing they like between meatloaf batches is basmati rice with slightly mashed sardines. It does tend to stick. Hard to get offal from a supermarket here but they don’t mind diced chicken hearts and chicken livers with vegetables
I'm I'm happy you can order a cute stuffed Pembroke Welsh Corgi from the Buckingham Palace Shop. I got one because it matches my Corgi Pearl uncannily lol
My service dogs eat chicken and rice with vegetables that I make for them. They are spoiled rotten, but they do so much for me idc what other ppl think (my adult kids!) They deserve it. I live alone now & I’m disabled so my pups help me and love me so much that I’ll do anything for them. I love this channel btw. Nearly cried watching the shortbread recipe bc my mom was a cake decorator/baker and I haven’t made shortbread since she passed away from pancreatic cancer 22 years after my dad died from pancreatic cancer. I’m definitely going to try the recipe. Love your channel chef I was an instant subscriber too.
I cook for our old dog every day. We love her, she’s a senior toy Pomeranian and doesn’t like much any more. I cook chicken and beef for her. Sometimes she just wants peanut butter. 😊
Or just give them raw meat. Dog and cat are carnivore. And in their real habitat, they don't eat processed and cooked dish. They also sometimes eat grass and herbs. Or just mix rice with meat. Asians doing this since.. idk. Some of them give cats with a mix between cooked fish(without or with seasoning) and rice. Even I too.. giving my cat this mixture of rice & fish/chicken.
I feed my babies ground turkey, brown rice, cooked carrots and peas with a little unsalted chicken bone broth. It's not expensive, and I told my vet what I fed them, asked him if I should change it, and he said no it's fine

Well, you gotta start somewhere, Chef! Love your tales (tails?) of the Queen's corgis. I've never had a dog, but I had a cat named Sam who mostly ate "Kitty Queen" canned beef or chicken. However, Sam would beg for food from our plates, and one time he got up on the table before we were seated and knocked over a 10-pound turkey onto the floor (we wiped it off and ate it anyway) and of course Sam got some, too :) He lived to be 23 years old.
Thanks for sharing these memories. Our Welsh Pembroke likes rice, tinned dog food but her favourite is raw; beef, chicken, liver or a mix bought prepared. Certainly helps with a healthy Corgi. (The Swedish Vallhunds like it too) Thanks again. 🐕
