  • I bought this watch over 10 years ago, and because I over paid, I put it in the safe and forgot about it. During the Covid lock downs I got it out and came to the conclusion it might have been re lumed - partly because it is in such good condition. I recently offered it for sale as original and a viewer pointed out I had called it a re lume a while back.
Judging relumes is a skill that is acquired over time, and experience is everything. There is no machine we can stick it on to get a valid Yes/No answer, it is all opinion based on experience. Most re lume work is done to improve the watch, without trying to deceive. The problem comes when we have a very fine watch, where a re lume will affect the value.
Here I go through a close and forensic re examination and take you with me.
See what you think, and if you agree with my conclusion.

William, I've been reading "Moonwatch Only" and getting really interested in vintage Speedy Pros lately, and your content is invaluable. Please keep these great videos coming!

Thank you very much for the detailed informations and for the fantastic comparisons in this video. Actually I am still not confident enough to buy a vintage Speedmaster (but I enjoy your videos very much).

Intersting vid and thank you for your continued education on Speedmasters. How do you feel Omega applied lume on these vintage pieces? Was it done by hand or by machine?

the rallye strap orange relumed watch.......the minute register has a fault me thinks? alignment of the hand to the counter and it clicks over and then does a backward step in relation to the central second hand

I notice one photo suggests you have a lot of your watches on very nice alligator straps. Would it be rude to ask where they come from? Advance thanks!

I have a 105.003.65 that I the markers does not seem to have any lume as they are more white/grey than one can see on the two watches shown in this video and which are not relumed. Could someone have removed the lume? Maybe it “fell off”?

I sent my Speedmaster 67 to a highly recommended watchmaker who took it upon himself to badly blob some white paint on the hands. Never again.
