hmm not sure it could be in a group, compound path or clipping mask double check and turn the fill off make sure it's in gradient mode.

Hello and thank you for this tutorial. I had a question, is it possible to assign the gaussian blur to only one part of the shape?
Often when I draw I add gaussian blur but sometimes I'd like it not to overtake another shape.
In the best case, is it possible to cut out part of the Gaussian blur?

nope, you can only do a clipping mask to hide rest of shape
