    One of the best, if not the best collegiate RB of all-time. His professional career is almost forgotten. If he would've went to the NFL after his Jr. year He and Eric Dickerson would've been battling for NFL rookie of the year. He rushed for 5,562 yards and scored 54 touchdowns in the USFL. Dickerson rushed for 5, 147 and 46 touchdowns during his first three years. Walker went on to rush for 8, 225 yards in the NFL. One of the most underrated RB's of all-time.

      Herschel ran for 2'411 yards in one which is absolutely unhuman. The NFL record is 2,105 by Eric.

    What an amazing combination of speed and power. He just seemed to have an extra gear when he turned the corner and outran everyone.

    In a head to head meeting at a college track meet Bo beat him by a hair. I'd still take him over Bo as a running back. Ive been watching football fo over 50 years and he certainly is in the top 5 I've ever seen.

      +David Mazzini I'm talking college here. If Herschel would have went straight into the NFL and went to a good team like Bo did, things may have been different. But back to college! MY top 3 picks for MY college team, Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, OJ Simpson. In no paticular order.

    His greatest run in his entire pro career was when he blazed down the sidelines some 75-80 yards (seen here) vs the Houston Gamblers at Giants Stadium. He said afterwards that he'd been working on his speed. Was that ever evident!

    Wished he'd played his entire career in the NFL was a good offensive line. He would have made the NFL hall of fame no problem. I think that Bo Jackson, during his short pro career, was actually better as runner, but Hershel was extremely explosive and durable, and also a good receiver. Hershel would have made a great addition to a team that needed a powerback with speed. Would have helped a team win a championship, with the right fit. Also, would have piled up more yardage and been remember as an all-time great top 15-20 back...or maybe, even higher. Super-talented, with a toughness about him. Just needed more time in the NFL with the right team.

    • @kenperk9854
      @kenperk9854 8 лет назад

      I saw both play in person several times. I would take Bo. He had everything Herschel had PLUS he had great instincts as a runner. Herschel was more of a "if I hit a hole, great. If I don't I'll get what I can." Bo could do it that way but he was also good at finding the hole and making people miss. He had better footwork and cutting ability also. Don't get me wrong though. If I couldn't have Bo I'd take Herschel in a heartbeat.

    Athleticism is more than size and speed. It also consists of coordination, quickness, flexibility, explosiveness, & reaction time. In no way am I saying Herschel is chopped liver I'm just saying Bo was the most coordinated human being to grace to grace any sport and I just think his combination of talents made him a better athlete

      I agree with you. Both are the greatest in our time. I use to play baseball, basketball, and other sports requiring eye hand coordination. I had incredible eye hand speed. I can only imagine what it would be like to be that coordinated and speed and strength like Bo. still Hershel wouldn't be the worst person to add to your team.

      The USFL folded in 1986 after they "won" their monopoly lawsuit over the NFL, but only got $1 in damages, which was trebled up to $3 dollars and 76 cents. Which doesn't even buy you a gallon of gas in most places.

    Better than Bo, strength wise and speed wise.
    many people don't know he held the world record for the 60 yard sprint at one track meet. A man named Carl Lewis broke it in another heat about 15 minutes later.
    If you don't know who Carl Lewis is you can look at him on youtube.

      Herschel was and is clearly the better athlete. He was stronger and faster than bo and to this day he is in much better shape

    • @WeAreXpros
      @WeAreXpros 10 лет назад +1

      thatguytate Bo ran a 4.13 40yd dash, which not even the fastest of runningbacks today have accomplished that, but the thing about BO was that his athleticism was God-given. I feel if he didn't brake his hip he and Herschel would probably work out together. Herschel (to me) is the better athlete because he is in the best shape for a 52y/o i've ever seen

    • @thatguytate
      @thatguytate 10 лет назад

      You are aware that the world's fastest indoor 50m runner crossed the 40 yard mark at about 4.3 seconds. (Donovan Bailey). So if any running back could come even close to that time you would see them winning medals at the olympics and world championships, but none of them ever do.
      40 yard dash times are completely exaggerated.

    • @WeAreXpros
      @WeAreXpros 10 лет назад

      You are aware that not all athletes make it to the Olympics, right? Especially football players as they're usually to big to compete against Olympic sprinters. The only event that football players could be in is Bobsled. Why do you feel that the times are exaggerated?

  • @dlogan1616
    @dlogan1616 10 лет назад +1

    I see some of you saying Herschel was stronger and faster than Bo Jackson?? Bo has the fastest 40 time ever recorded in the NFL! I'll admit there's no telling the stats Walker would have gotten had he played his entire career on a good team in the NFL but when recall using my eye test, Bo was even more polarizing than Herschel if not the most polarizing back besides Barry Sander that I have ever seen. As pass catcher Herschel is extremely underrated and he belongs in that category with complete backs such as Priest Holmes, Marcus Allen, LaDainian Tomlinson, Roger Craig, Payton and Marshall Faulk. BUT, If I needed a back to help me with the Play-Action more than catching the ball out of the back field... Bo would be my choice over Walker every day!

      Depending on who had what nagging injuries, both were extremely fast at any given time, just came down to who was healthier.

    • @dlogan1616
      @dlogan1616 4 года назад

      @@brianroberts6127 Walker was better, that's a fact... hahahaha; that's not a fact, that is your opinion. Saying Herschel Walker is better than Bo Jackson would be like telling "Me" Herschel Walker was better than Adrian Petersen. During Walker's career from 86 -to-97 I'm thinking he's not even top5 in the 80s and definitely not in the 90s. He might be the greatest collegiate running back but he only made two Pro Bowl appearances in a 13yr career. He has some nice highlights but probably any back over 7k yards rushing has impressive highlights. In 1988 during his best season... Dickerson and Craig were still better. I grew up watching Herschel Walker and at the time I couldn't tell he was as fast as everyone was saying he was because he only had that spin move and he rarely juked a defender. Herschel Walker is one of those running backs you'd have to put in the what if discussion. If he hadn't have gone to the USFL, if he'd been on a solid team for most of his career, no injuries etc. etc. but I'm wondering if he'd even make top10 in that type of hypothetical discussion.
