    hi and thanks again for your tutorials, they are a big help! I recently decided to upgrade the ECU on my 9-5 Aero and must admit was a little daunted with the process/difficult access/losing those nuts, especially the two securing the unit itself - I could see those disappearing so quickly.
    So I invested in a Battery Terminal / Wiper Arm removal - took less than a minute to get the arm off, plus an extension for my 1/4" socket set and the all important 1/4" Universal Joint tool which made accessing the nuts so easy it was a dream. Another thing I did was fill the 10mm socket with thick leather balm before I started, which did an excellent job of holding the nut in the socket - I didn't have to worry about dropping it.
    This made the whole process of getting the ECU out and a Stage 2 replacement (from Scott Rowntee on EBay) so easy and fast. No stress, no worry about access or losing the nuts.
    Just thought this might help others who might be contemplating this upgrade but feel it's too hard. And it saved me several hundreds of dollars doing it myself.

    Is it ok to just swap them or do you have to code them in some sort of way? I bought a already tuned ecu from another saab 95 and want to switch but would be nice to know this before i switch the ecu. Thank you.

      Did you ever get an answer? I heard you can disconnect your battery for 30 mins, plug in the new ECU, turn your car on (not started) let it sit for 5 mins, turn your car off then start it. I'd like to know as I'm thinking I may need a new one. Don't have the $$$ to have it programmed, but if that trick works, I'll definitely pick it up from the pull & pay

    this might sound stupid but my electronic controls are all backwards, was hoping I could maybe clean the contact on the ECU and hope that it may be a quick fix? But does the ECU only control engine functions or is there another one for other things like ABS/TCS, radio etc?

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  7 лет назад

      When you say backwards, do you mean your car is a right-hand drive?

    • @thisislorn
      @thisislorn 7 лет назад

      Trionic Seven no... I'm not THAT stupid, haha.. I mean my electronic controls. like volume up goes volume down, heat up setting puts the heat at the feet ... etc.

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  7 лет назад

      Hm...not exactly sure I understand. First, what car and model year? Does it affect the steering wheel controls, or does this happen on the controls on the dash? Also, volume controls and ACC redirection are separate systems so I really wonder what could be causing htat.

    • @thisislorn
      @thisislorn 7 лет назад

      Trionic Seven it's a 2001 9-5 aero sedan. yeah the steering wheel controls are indeed affected. For example volume up changes from tape to CD and volume down puts the volume up. it doesn't always happen though, I'd say that 1/10 times I start my car the steering wheel controls are affected. The heating is always broken, however. now it only shoots air from the main face vents regardless of the setting and if it is very cold outside I can't change the temperature, it only shoots out very hot air.

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  7 лет назад +1

      Hm...my wife's 9-5 has a similar problem where the steering wheel buttons get weird. Think it's a grounding issue but I'm not sure. Re. the ventilation, try holding auto+off. This will show any fault codes in the ACC system. If it says "0 0" there's no fault code.

    Hej! Tack för en mycket detaljerad och informativ video. Jag har dock en liten fundering, det är inte så att man måste ha tillgång till TECH2 och "gifta" den nya boxen med bilen?

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 лет назад +1

      Jo, för att en box ska passa måste både mjukvaran vara anpassad till din hårdvara och koderna måste stämma med bilens. Det har jag dock inte tagit upp i filmen eftersom jag bara visar själva bytet. Filmen hade blivit så lång och krånglig annars. Har inte tech2 själv men kodar boxar på annat vis (se min opensid-film), men jag tror tech2 kan gifta in boxar

    • @kiddevajs
      @kiddevajs 8 лет назад +1

      +Trionic Seven: For Saab Enthusiasts
      Aj fan, det var det jag befarade... 😧 Det är jordningen till ACC-relät som inte funkar och vi misstänker att det är den utgången på boxen som lagt av. Jag får väl hoppas på att det inte är själva styrboxen det är fel på utan brott på kabeln som går ut från den. 🤔

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 лет назад

      Konstigt, aldrig hört om det felet. Styrboxarna är det sällan fel på, Saabs boxar tål massor av misshandel (tro mig, jag vet!)

    • @kiddevajs
      @kiddevajs 8 лет назад

      +Trionic Seven: For Saab Enthusiasts
      En Saab mekaniker jag talade med igår sa samma sak, att det högst osannolikt är själva styrenheten det är fel på. Anledningen till att det inte finns jord till relät är kanske så enkelt att ECU:n får fel info från t.ex tryckvakten och därför inte ger något på den kontakten. Tror jag får gå vidare med att först provtrycka systemet och se om det är i ordning, det kan ju helt enkelt ha sinat sedan sist vi fyllde på gas.

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 лет назад

      Kolla i WIS och se felsökningsguiden för ACC, där står exakt vad man ska titta efter (behövs tech2)

      +Mohammed Illiyash You probably have the same idle vibration as I have, it's probably bad motor mounts. I know that the torque rod busingis completely shot, so I will start with that one. Biopower conversion is very good for your saab, except for the fuel pump. If you want to go off the deep end, check out our community at trionictuning.com, and you'll learn how to do tuning and biopower conversion on your own :)
      Thanks for your comments and kind words! The saabs are very upgradable, and there's a ton of stuff you can do without breaking the bank too much. I would start to take a look at suspension and maybe upgrade the shocks, springs and bushings. Good luck!
