Thank you...thank you...thank you! I was having the same issue with my 2001 9-5. I checked the blend door and the arm and everything was fine, but there was a lot of play in the stepper motor. I followed your directions and my motor looked exactly like yours! You saved me from buying a new one. Thank goodness for the Internet, RUclips and guys like you willing to help out us laymen!!! Thank you again!!!
Good bless you Sir ! I was able to fix my car after I was watching your video. I was surprise to see that I head the exact problems that you posted on this video. I'm really thankful for your effort and for the few people that post all kinds of issues and how to fix it. Keep up the good work ! Thanks again for saving me a few hundreds or even a thousand I dollars for this problems.
Almost bought a very expensive new blend door motor. But I could fix it, thanks to your video. I Had the exact same problem. Gear protruded too far out of the motor. Gently hamered it back at the right position. Super, thanks !!
My 01' 9-5 Estate does EXACTLY the same thing. I took apart the driver's side and the plastic part fell out broken just like yours. Tight working space!
I am glad it was helpful. It is a pretty long video, but it covers a variety of problems that can be encountered, which is probably more typical than not with an older car.
Hi. I am trying to fix my brothers 2002 9-5. When the blower motor is on, only air goes to the feet or the face but does not go to the windshield. So perhaps the gear is also misaligned and does not engage because it is up like in your video and has to be tapped down. Where exactly is this stepper motor located? I wish you had shown detaching it but you pointed in the space under the glove box. Is this error code 11? I will check the SAAB site to as you mentioned. Thanks a lot for your video!
Thank you for your kind words. I have also greatly benefited from the online community of folks who like to share how they fixed various things. As far as having the exact same problems as in the video, that does NOT surprise me. Some designs prove themselves over time, and some unfortunately prove to have flaws.
Thanks, I believe there are other manufacturers that do have on-board diagnostics for the climate control, especially if they have "automatic" controls like this car. It automatically defrosts the windshield, blows the upper/lower vents, and especially, switches between heating and cooling.
I recall paying about $30 for it, but I also bought a few other things at the time. It is a relatively small piece of aluminum, but it does have to be precisely machined to the correct dimensions to work. It was worth it to me to buy it, as I do not have the machining tools to make my own.
Thanks! I have been lucky and not had another significant repair to document and upload since this one! I did put in new wheel bearings last year, but that was done with the help of a friend at his place and I couldn't really capture it.
Thanks for your video its helpful. Ihave code 21 appears in my control Can you please tell me how to know what it mean or how i can find it myself Thanks again
Advise against using the aluminum/metal arm. The Swede engineers made it plastic so it would be the weak point in the system if binding occurs. Going into the heater box is man-hour intensive indeed!
Dear, i have a Saab 9-5 2.3T 1999, my fan is not working from one day to another day. iff i make a dianostic ill see, 1 - 08 so i think its the stapmotor left(driversite) but was at your car the fan working ore not, so that i dont have to replace a whole motor.
Just subed, my 9-5 the acc and fans inside just turn off while driveing what could this be pleasee and also the fans cone on full blast when I start her up ? Please any help would be greatly appreciated
how much is that lever run on the saab site??? i would think that this is a common enough problem, that to have a replacement made, it would be profitable to fabricate and sell...
Sorry, I know it is difficult to see from under the dashboard, but the essence of this repair is to prevent having to completely remove the dashboard to get to the heater box, even though the manual might direct the repair to be made in that way. It is difficult to see and you kind of have to do it by touch, but since I did not have to strip the interior of the car, I do not have a picture of the side of the airbox. There are drawings and pictures posted by others on the Internet, but none of my own.
+ehab yousef Hi, sorry but the only images I have are on the video itself. I did look at a schematic drawing online at the time that showed an exploded view of the airbox, but I didn't have one of my own. I may have found it on "the Saab site" if you search for it online, too.
@johnstonb I recnetly got error code 13 and so I checked my left stepper motor yesterday and found out it wont move properly and it kinda has a rough time moving, and when I calibrate the AC it just wont point upwards and center properly. Got any ideas on how I can fix this and is it DIY'able?
+Man Oat Hi, if the motor itself is having trouble moving smoothly, and it's not the mechanical connection to the gear or the lever, then most likely it's the stepper motor itself. It sounds like it "tries" to move, so it must be getting power if it is moving at all. It would be possible to DIY the stepper motor itself, if you can locate an affordable replacement from a wrecked car that would be cheapest. I don't know what the motor assembly would cost, but I imagine a bit more expensive than used.
creo que solo tienes que subir la tempereatura de los dos lados pasajero y conductor. presionar la flecha hacia arriba. pasando los 75 F se siente mas caliente el aire.
